  1. We have the WPL Diamond DMS2 which was installed in 2010 and hasn't been any bother. The original Secoh EL100 air pump packed up in August this year so had a good life and was replaced with the newer JDK100 which uses less electricity.
  2. I have used this PU glue with damp wood successfully but I haven't tried it with damp concrete. https://www.axminstertools.com/titebond-greenchoicetm-polyurethane-construction-adhesive-311ml-952217
  3. Sorry if I'm not understanding correctly but are you talking about half round mouldings like these. https://www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-Pine-Half-Round-Moulding---18mm-x-8mm-x-2-4m/p/121180
  4. Apparently it causes the rubber to harden over time.
  5. Gripits?
  6. We used 12mm HardieBacker in our three bathrooms and it was a sod to cut and drill. I just couldn't bring myself to use Marmox although I considered it long and hard.
  7. I have found our KCC Footpath Officer very helpful in having footpaths reinstated when land owners have tried to block them. There are maps of rights of way. https://www.kent.gov.uk/waste-planning-and-land/public-rights-of-way/rights-of-way-map
  8. I have something similar to this sort of thing for when I run into that sort of problem. https://www.amazon.co.uk/LHKJ-Flexible-Magnetic-Handheld-Reaching/dp/B07QVKD2X4
  9. I was spoilt when I did a complete renovation of a Victorian cottage forty years ago. The local builder and his son were truly excellent. They allowed me to help where I could, showed me how to do jobs and listened to exactly what I wanted and delivered it. When I started this build I naively expected the same. Unfortunately my builder had retired and I took a recommendation from a friend for a carpenter to fit the soffitts. The work was awful and I let him go after the first day, he couldn't understand why. I have found some good workers since but it's very difficult so I ended up doing a lot of the work myself with Wendy to help.
  10. I considered thin joint mortar when I was looking at different construction methods for my build. This looks like a modern version. This paper might give some more details. https://images.ffx.co.uk/documents/R_RPP-MORTAR ITB Approval 15_9752_2016_GB.PDF
  11. I would probably use Soudal Fix All Crystal Clear. https://www.platinumchemicals.co.uk/products/soudal-fix-all-crystal-clear
  12. I made one out of heavy duty bubble wrap for the front door when we had the Icynene installed as they were dragging heavy flexible pipes inside.
  13. The pipe ends should be chamfered so they don't push the seal out of it's housing and a small amount of silicone grease applied to the seal. The pipe should be fully inserted into the fitting. Using washing up liquid will damage the seals but is a lot cheaper than silicone grease hence why builders use it.
  14. Welcome to the forum and good luck with the project. We built a timber I-beam portal framed house. It was the second of the type built in Kent, the first being an art studio. https://conker.cc/projects/passivhaus-artists-studio-canterbury/
  15. Three small electric towel rails and an EASHP that warms the supply air from the MVHR.
  16. We had this for a few items, and they all were happy with a copy of the planning approval notice.
  17. Excellent, like the style.
  18. Phew, at least I haven't missed out on that one then .
  19. Never owned one so never tried, but are rimless toilets easier to keep clean?
  20. I didn't put anything up unless I had deep holes in the front and then I hung rope around it with a laminated piece of A4 as the sign.
  21. I couldn't remember what the spacing is so just went out and measured it at 300mm and they're in a straight line. You can just about see the plants behind the wire mesh. I prefer hedges to fences and I just put a rabbit proof fence in front of the hawthorns and blackthorns. In the past I have found holly to be very slow growing and we grow Trachelospermum jasminoides (Star Jasmine) up our posts and trellis. It is covered in flowers in the summer and smells gorgeous.
  22. In that case I wouldn't change anything and if there are no problems leave well alone.
  23. Around here it would be time, cost and aggravation.
  24. Hi, welcome to the forum. Yes I have a Genvex combined unit, but they only work in a very well insulated house. Why not leave your MVHR as it is and add an air to air heat pump to the house if that is the route you want to take. What is your existing heating?
  25. Around here the leaves can stay on until the end of the year, almost as long as the alders. Just depends on the weather.
