I made one out of heavy duty bubble wrap for the front door when we had the Icynene installed as they were dragging heavy flexible pipes inside.

The pipe ends should be chamfered so they don't push the seal out of it's housing and a small amount of silicone grease applied to the seal. The pipe should be fully inserted into the fitting. Using washing up liquid will damage the seals but is a lot cheaper than silicone grease hence why builders use it.

In the past I have found holly to be very slow growing and we grow Trachelospermum jasminoides (Star Jasmine) up our posts and trellis. It is covered in flowers in the summer and smells gorgeous.

In that case I wouldn't change anything and if there are no problems leave well alone.

Hi, welcome to the forum. Yes I have a Genvex combined unit, but they only work in a very well insulated house. Why not leave your MVHR as it is and add an air to air heat pump to the house if that is the route you want to take. What is your existing heating?

Around here the leaves can stay on until the end of the year, almost as long as the alders. Just depends on the weather.

Yes there are sloes on there every year but not in huge quantities. There are enough for the blackbirds though. For a large crop it needs to grow 2m to 3m tall and untrimmed.

We have a mixed blackthorn and hawthorn hedge at the front of the property which I keep at around 1m high. All went in as two year old bare rooted whips and was completely filled in after four years and is around 0.8m thick. The sparrows love it, and when the sparrowhawk visits and sits on the top of the hedge the sparrows make so much noise that we go outside and scare the predator away.

I asked Building Control what they wanted and they said a notice to demolish form completed. So I sent that in and then proceeded to take the bungalow apart.

The Openreach engineer that removed my line just cut it with a pair of side cutters and coiled it up on the side of the pole. With our system we use VoIP for our landline telephone.

We had Openreach disconnect and remove their cable from our house. It was FREE. They said it was their only free service. We never had it replaced and use WiiMax which is both a lot faster and cheaper in this area.
