I have a sign that says scaffolding has to be checked daily - brickie has to check and tap each wedge. My site insurance covers self erected scaffold - I will see if I can find the wording.

Laser measures are usually either reflector or even echo - they just can't get the accuracy of a steel tape ..! And a 15m tape is change of £20....

You've obviously never owned a German Shepherd .... we have bamboo and it's been sanded in one area where a nameless child dropped a soldering iron onto it and "didn't notice the burning smell..." Sanded out with 120 and 360 grit paper and recoated with the Ronseal Diamond Hard satin varnish and you need to look carefully to see the difference in the varnish as the burn isn't visible.

Mirror demister pads. How to switch them?

How about one of these with the sensor behind the mirror itself ...? http://www.sensor.co.uk/switches/bathroom_switch/ -

He's a legend... I learnt some neat lead tricks from his videos ! -
I doubt a digital laser will be accurate enough. We did nail and tape over a 10x6m block and its within 3mm built up - laser was only used to set the corner levels

I've got Kwikstage and its brilliant ! We have 3 towers set up at the moment, one through a stair well too. I went for some options like the 2 board transoms and the hop up brackets and its been a godsend. It will be for sale - but not until I've got the vaulted ceiling done !

Copper Beech would work and if you top it out at 4-5m it will soon create a decent canopy. Looks nice through the winter and has a fairly small root ball for a large tree to be transported. If you can stagger the trees it looks better as a line will cause canopy restriction - placing a larger one 2-3m behind the others also gives a nice change in view as you move round. If you have a site plan and rough idea of heights / spread needed I can give you some ideas

@JSHarrisif you want evergreen and height then consider something such as Elaeagnus (Silverberry) that stays a nice evergreen and is easily trained to an espalier or pleached. Grasslands do a lot of topiary at 3/4 standard that would give you a 1.2m base to a 2.4m top - give them a call as they have a lot of stock normally. http://www.grasslands.co.uk/topiary/standards.html?gclid=CNrqjf_ct9QCFdeRGwod4D4O8w

UVC blow off can go outside but needs to be downwards and into a drain of sorts. MVHR is just condensate so assuming it doesn't freeze it can do the same

I reckon our local council would accept that ..!! I'm on my third "street naming officer" who is basically asking me to do her job ..... -

@JSHarris I do wonder if the addition of a small disc of acoustic foam to the inner of the valves would have a similar effect as most of these fans are cage fans so the sound wave is within the duct - adding an absorption layer at the end would stop the reflected sound. I plan to do a similar thing with foam sound panels on the outside of a false wall to dampen the external road and rail noise into a bedroom. -

Any chance you can move the tiles ...? It's an unusual design as you would normally have a cloaking board but it looks like the tiles are laid on the top of the wall ..? -
There isn't enough moisture in a slab for condensation to form round a pipe so that's not correct..! You could get floor condensation but the RH would need to be fairly high to get to dew point and cause dampness

Well if you've still got the designs I'm sure @recoveringacademic needs something for the downstairs WC of Great Newt Towers .... What is the current turnaround on windows these days ..? We hear the horror stories of 3-4 months delay so would be worth understanding what the "real" market is like.

I won't use anything else than Fischer plugs now - they are worth the small extra price to pay as they work first time.

£204 delivered inc VAT for 2-3 weeks and that's an 8 cuM one.

Nulok works with natural slate - difference is that you just get the one lap rather than two.
-
Can you persuade them to let you use Nulok..?? No visible hooks and very DIY friendly. http://www.nulokroofing.com/uk/images/downloads/Nulok_Brochure_2016.pdf

Doesn't seem too bad - mine is a decent Fischer gun so I clean it and store the cans off it but you could leave it attached.
-
Gun all the way - and get a couple of tins of cleaner and spray it inside and out when you're done. Much more controllable than dispo tins

10mm is pump grade - anything bigger and the pump guy may hate you.... sanded and extra cement to make it flow. And I've never heard of concrete being certified waterproof without an additive. Small price to pay it is wrong ...
