  1. no it wont, rubbish.
  2. how about some pleaching frames ? There is a brand of breathable roofing membrane that is black on onside and white on the other. stapled to a frame you wont really see the black against the tree but the white will be lovely from the other side especially on a sunny day.
  3. haunch with conc every 1.5m to comply with building regs. If you have block and beams above you can get hangers to hang of the beam to suspend the pipe from.
  4. Gas isn't go anywhere for the next 75 years minimum, the planning involved, the replacement and upgrading of homes, electric network etc will take decades as people will just not put up with switching to an inferior solution that impacts on neighbours quality of life and costs 10x more. In reality the oil burners will be subsidised out first at huge cost to the taxpayer then in 20 years once they are done homes will need to be brought upto modern insulation standards then after another 20-30 years it can be looked at again.
  5. interesting, I'm told they are paying 40-50% more than a year ago for large sites. Source ?
  6. just agree to the chimney and dont build it. same with brick slips. Worst than can happen is they enforce against you (wont happen), you appeal for free lose and then have to do it anyway. Its a game your playing here, the rules of the game are not known to you yet.
  7. builders quoting now fixed price contracts without using some sort of escalator clause are mad. It's just plain gambling.
  8. CRL , ICW both offer. both expensive.
  9. of course its being kicked into the long grass. There isn't an alternative available for same cost that wouldn't involve freezing to death the poor.
  10. no it doesnt, you have no VCL so it will grow mould/rot as the water cant get out. drop the platerboard and do it properly, alutrix is very goof VCL.
  11. if its a warm roof check what vapour barrier was used, there isnt any evidence of one at the ceiling junction in which case the ceiling needs to come down and it be installed or you will have problems.
  12. doesnt matter the depth if its a warm roof then the vapour barrier (not that there is evidence of one) needs to be protected and not pierced.
  13. Is it a warm or cold roof ?
  14. howdens... guaranteed to be missing 25 items and have 40 unneeded ones left over....
  15. they will be on 600mm centres, find one you find them all.
  16. hope your insurance covers you for that risky manoeuvre. The scaffold alone is shocking.
  17. id allways get a small crane as they are cheap, safer, better reach and dont rip the place up. If you still insist then goto your nearest farmer and offer cash.
  18. use your own building control, ask them what you need to do to get it signed off. Present the certificate to leaseholder once work is done and its signed off and ask them to enforce against you in court and you will be seeking full legal costs against them.
  19. how polished are they, hard to tell from the photo ? The higher the polish the lighter they look.
  20. as a compromise, a pair of sliding FD60/90 doors
  21. do you own the flat or are you a tenant ?
  22. if you havent got a warm roof then you need to ventilate the space really as it will get condensation inside. Even with a very good vapour barrier like alutrix if you pull the cold inside the building then a dewpoint will form inside and it will sweat. Have you got a restriction on height as making it a warm roof is much much easier and eliminates chances of mould/sweating etc.
  23. if the installer is Ideal approved you get a free upgrade to a 5 year warranty.
