  1. Happy birthday @ProDave ???
  2. Tighten it up first then if that doesn't work drain and try again with a few turns of tape on it? It's a little rusty...
  3. It looks neat too...nice design. Steel work to open up downstairs and support the upstairs dormer looks challenging. Probably a lot of planning to if you're going to live there while the builder works his magic. What's either side of the terrace, have neighbours extended too?
  4. Maybe do away with most of the internal walls and go open plan...delineate by finishes and lighting
  5. Sounds like rubbish dodgy give me your money How can it insulate or keep water out?
  6. Nice job indeed...now you have to price hubby's and your work at £20 per hour and work out how much you have made??? Kidding...! Don't do it!
  7. What would you expect of any of these outlets * I'm being kind here* to do the fcuk about any of it? Investigative journalism has almost died in the mainstream media, not extinct completely but the titles you quote are unimpressive to put it mildly...
  8. The Pars where in European cup final in 1969 I believe... Dunfermline far you may be???
  9. Good use you say coffin for a retired heating engineer for when the time comes... They do them like that in Ghana if I recall...themed coffins like? Be a good wake I'd bet ?
  10. Bill welcome Is zone 1, 75m over two floors (old building with single glazing) and all the rest 65m on one floor? You're gonna need some expert advice I expect as this is a unique set up...
  11. Welcome fella
  12. Check out my blog...49 sq/m for £9k...cosy
  13. Before I ended up in social services I was a shoemaker mainly in bespoke *surgical* shoes. Once I went self employed I enjoyed the year or so I worked for a threesome of young female designers from Cordwainers College...I was the practical one trying to make their wacky designs. Vanity is Sanity if I recall ?
  14. Best post in ages...the value of the forum writ large? No spoilers please, I wanna know who done it...
  15. It's all a matter of degree and likelihood and then engineering an acceptable solution. Professional competence coupled with experience and knowledge of the published standards will provide an independent answer for which I guess someone will want you to pay for. Or in other words, I've no idea whatsoever
  16. I'm thinking that looks very very nice for a wee holiday home...
  17. Oh and you can sing, drink, cook and sleep too but not always in that order. Makes me wonder if we could have bothies in cities...free and basic. Suppose the problem is security and harmony, harder to achieve in the urban jungle than in the hills, just a thought about homelessness and this cold snowy winter...
  18. Same thing in many ways Out exposed, in the cold of the winter, they save your life. In the summer, you and your community build/maintain/improve them for when you might need them. Free, open and honest What's not to like
  19. Nice post @jamiehamy Living in the hut isn't unlike how our parents lived in the Glasgow of the 1950's... It can be very comfortable and feels better as you are aware you have made it all happen, teaching kids to set a fire is a good thing? Also, nowadays with Bluetooth speakers and Tesco selling ice for a quid a bag, luxury parties are easy to host in the hut???
  20. First Buildhub project with internal flume...looking forward to seeing the plans
  21. Hello David, Just up the road from me and very near the hut at Carbeth ? @jamiehamy should be along soon
  22. I think @Fredd should be read in a Cornish accent or maybe Welsh... clearly one of the regulars having a fantastic time pushing all your buttons? I'm loving it, it's better than the adventures of Rollo... although there may be a similarity or two in the writing style ?
  23. Help any...
  24. Rubba-seal.co.uk They do EPDM to exact size but price has gone up to £7.25 per m...last year was 5.99 if I recall.
