  1. 24 months later and the box beds get a curtain ?? Happy bank holiday time old pals, I'm up the hut, heading to the pub for dinner and having a ball.
  2. Ah cheers Mike, Plan is to have it level with present floor, so, new outside steps to the side of the porch. New outside door will open inwards bit existing back door replaced to open outwards
  3. We are knocking out the wall between the kitchen and dining to make one big space but SWMBO wants a porch. Its a good idea as it will stop walking in to the new room directly from outside and i'm sure will be under permitted development. Probably just enough to cover the current outside stairs but what design...? I'm attracted to cedar cladding but maybe just pain old brick. Its more functional than for the look given its a bog standard semi, however as we are on a hill it will be quite noticeable. Ive seen some pics on pintrest but anyone any ideas?
  4. That's a monster size house Ramius!
  5. Yup, two old ladies in a Glasgow post office queue in front of me...bad mouthing neighbour Isa. She's always at the doctor she is...gets everything she does... She must be a nimphomaniac, says one to the other Seemingly Isa had lots of co morbid chronic conditions. Hard of hearing too she was...they say she was a looker in her day and never short of male attention. GP after a full examination and reading his computer screen- well Isa, your test results are back and I think you've got acute angina. That's lovely doctor, but never mind my fanny, can you tell me what's wrong with me love?
  6. Great progress... keep going girl!
  7. Very tidy old fruit...gumtree next is it? to find some quality old doors
  8. What's all the little posts on the bottom of the trenches? No mesh or rebar needed? Very tidy job and well done the dumper driver?
  9. Send us a picture @oldcoop ???
  10. Just a thought...you know how a big country house has a gate keepers cottage, often in the exact style of the big house. They often look grand with smashing chimney details and great stone work. Maybe it was the posh way of laying down a store for the future....move over old boy I'm having you chimney pot... awful storm last night, what what. So...build a dog kennel or summit!
  11. Brickwork looks great, very nice?
  12. How much for the crane hire? Am thinking I'll buy one with my pension lump sum and earn 500 for one days work a week...it's my cunning plan for a fun and well bankrolled dotage? I hope I can get a big yellow one for under £100k, good plan or what?
  13. Size of that ladder!
  14. I nailgunned everything! My boards were 150x 15 but very moist. Nails one inch from the edge at a 45/50° angle in towards the centre of the board. Once you've done a few you get a feel for the wood and read the knots and grain....too near a knot and move or miss it out. Battens at 400 or 600 spacing means loads of nails per board. Practice on the under board as it's all getting covered anyway. Use all the damaged edge stuff underneath too. Mix the colours up randomly. Keep the best boards with good grain for corners.
  15. Think from memory I used 63mm ring shank nails in the nail gun...not too long or you'll puncture the vcl. Counter battens at 2x25 plus the thickness of the board and your fine.
  16. Very nice hut you got there @Cpd?
  17. Okay... Guy on the right is a plumber Middle guy is a sunamp fraudster Wee guy on the left...? @Onoff thinking about his bathroom,???
  18. Is the correct answer ???????????
  19. Hey mods... Is this free advertising going on? I bet they are all in a meeting
  20. What are you cladding it with?
  21. Go chap their door and take a box of Roses...smile and be nice Works every time Seriously, if they are soo busy. Impress the booking clerk or make yourself stand out to get them moving
  22. Roofing battens are cheap and super treated. I agree with @Miek no water is going to pool for any time behind overlapped board especially if you have counter battens which imo is a must.
  23. FFS get a move on...?
  24. Where is the nearest B&M to you? There's several near me. I can get stuff for you and get a price from Hebrides Haulage if that works?
