  1. Saw it on a Facebook add tonight https://walabot.com/diy?utm_source=FB_Nov_EU_NewLAL_5%+_Amazon&utm_medium=Facebook+ads 100 quid though, for what looks like a con...what dya science fiends say?
  2. My old man was a plumber and told me in the 70s they used stainless steel in new builds because of a copper shortage. He didn't like it because the olives didn't bite as well and it split on the weld if frozen. He was old school though and thought plastic was the work of the ?
  3. In which case don't wear your AC/DC t-shirt, wash your hands and wear a tank top over your waistcoat. Or you could just do the fifty quid note thing, unhelpful though it may be. It's a hard one, how to influence strangers...(expletive deleted) it, I'd just be myself...bet you are a lovely lot anyway
  4. That's a fantastic view, is there a nice English pub nearby...idealic
  5. Hard wired smoke alarm has gone off again by itself (no smoke or fire) this time at 3am. It's my boys flat, he has autism and the alarm caused him to kick off big style. Worked on duty couldn't get it to stop so pulled it off the ceiling. What to do now? Does it run off a transformer? Can I buy a new one and fit it? Or let the landlord do it... Tough night for everyone the damned thing is commercial and wakes up half the street.
  6. Copper looks better if it's on *display* otherwise plastic is faster, easier and the modern stuff is bombproof. Many on here like Hepworth fittings the best. I've also used copper push fit like these, expensive but neat looking
  7. Considering two turbines. Each with built in dumpload and it’s own immersion. Brutal simplicity Oh you boys...talking all technical. I might Google dumpload and immersion but not at the same time or I'll be arrested. Never mind the bloody multiple jets too
  8. I reckon the answer lies not in physics but in how much the water board will charge. Guess they have the monopoly and can call the shots. How much do they want to answer your question?
  9. Google Fulham nozzle.
  10. B&Q have a big saw and will cut to any size you want to within half a mil. Use 25mm MDF and good screws with flush hinges and you're in DiY heaven.
  11. If your making a hole...with a jigsaw? Then shove it out of the way and insert a half dozen stainless steel pan scourers. Think they are four for a quid in Aldi and you'll have an extra gap for insurance. As @Crofter said it doesn't get that hot in normal running.
  12. Do you not need one of these? Oh and yes fire cement...too high a temperature for sealant and you'd have a job ramming rope in there but possible I guess. Fire cement is 4 squid from screwfix
  13. As far as I saw it's all very simple kit...basically two bits of stainless steel tube with some sort of insulating fibre in between. Each end has a self locking joining band that snaps closed rather like an old suitcase clasp. Not sure how an untrained eye could vouch for the quality/thickness of the steel or the properties of the insulation though...
  14. Had a look at that link and it's good prices. My flue was twice the cost of the stove!
  15. I got mine from Mi Flues in Glasgow. The online shop is expensive but the guy at the trade counter have me the trade discount of 58%! Even then it was around £55 per item...this stuff ain't cheap
  16. A storm collar is what you need, should've cheaper than flashing
  17. The final shspe is a pentagon inside a hexagon, so 11 sides In the other lines it has a hexagon, a pentagon and a square so = 15
  18. So boffins the answer is 53
  19. It's 2 o'clock There are 3 bananas And A pentagon plus a hexagon equals 11 sides Simples...
  20. Answer is less than 60... Boffins must be at the pub tonight, cmon @JSHarris
