  1. plastic options too- https://www.tradelineupvc.co.uk/index.php?Page=product&ProductID=1124 dryfix has them all clamped down w/ plates and screws/
  2. /allegedly.
  3. aye true that. Hopefully it had long enough to soak in first.
  4. been around for a long time, used to be known as Airflow Developments and were the go-to people for anemometers for accurate reading in lab fume cupboards etc.
  5. Forgoing the cocktails for today, I took advantage of a dry day to liberally douse all 0.58a with glyphosate. Checked the mains pressure while I was down too, looks like just over 3 bar and filling the sprayer pretty darned quick. Received a sample rooftile that interested me from Sandtoft yesterday. We've looked at Tapco, Iko, Cambrian, but this Britlock tile really impresses. Much more rigid than the Tapco/Iko offerings, and looks like it goes on more conveniently than Cambrian- less fiddly clips needed. Looks very "real" too, Sandy immediately showed her preference for it.
  6. know anything about Garo? http://www.meteorelectrical.com/distribution-control/consumer-units-accessories-1/garo-10-amp-30ma-1-module-rcbo-type-b.html
  7. which side is the wall, and which is the centre of the span?
  8. Well this info came from our PC who was chasing the case up, I'd be pretty sure that as a planning professional he's going to get a straighter answer than if I was to call up. No, all bases were definitely covered in the application- have a read the D&A statement...
  9. A little bird tells me there are twenty-five cases in front of us in Planning. Sounds like another couple of months?
  10. ^ I'll add to that if you do have MR16s that have failed on an AC supply, chances are that replacing the PSU with a DC one and then *reversing* any that still don't light in their sockets could well be a money saver, as I've never seen an internal rectifier fail completely, just in one direction...
  11. run it for a while, the brushes might need to bed in.
  12. I fitted a switch backplate as a nightlight in the youngster's room. Not that MK one, can't remember the brand but it's a white LED rather than a neon and works just fine with either a CFL or LED in the circuit.
  13. Now I know I posted them in my intro thread but for completeness- plans https://forum.buildhub.org.uk/ipb/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=5724
  14. Yup, I've 5l of Gallup XL sitting in the garage already. I'd like to say we'll wait for regrowth before applying it but it all depends on how impatient digger man is.
  15. About 500m as the crow flies to the back wall of the estate, Neil. The Mountstewart Road is the north-eastern boundary of the estate.
  16. You reckon Dave? They're not in active growth and that's the advice I was given. Hey ho, the digger will be sorting them anyway. Oh I've just noticed the link to the planning file I posted previously is poo. If anyone wants a look, go to http://epicpublic.planningni.gov.uk/publicaccess/ and then reference LA06/2017/1336/F
  17. A nice crisp spring morning, so down to the site goes I. Sheep are gone, and so is the grass. But they haven't touched the rushes so time to break out the strimmer w/ brush blade. That should make them more receptive to the forthcoming chemical treatment. After clearing about a third of the site my arms were rather pumped up so enough strimming for the day. The site is looking much more expansive now tho that it's flattening out. Next job then was to get the water on. Temporary joint made and an outside tap hung on a post (yes, double check valve), drive up to the road, find which Toby is ours and turn it on. Drive back down lane, turn on tap, and wait... / what *is* the volume of 650m of 32mm MDPE??? we have water! Still a bit aerated even after running for fifteen minutes, but we have clean water and it's at good flow and pressure. Happy with that.
  18. that's insurance for you...
  19. @JSHarris car rain detectors are optical, using the water droplet to refract a light beam (visible orange light in some early units) back to a receiver. If the screen is dry the light beam just passes out through the glass. here's a standalone using the same tech http://rainsensors.com/
  20. Lidl do a set of Ti coated in a blue steel box that are superb.
  21. if you went with Stelrad Vita Eco rads their fittings are in the middle and take Eurocones IIRC.
  22. Heard a distinctive rustling in the attic a couple of nights back so set the traps with a fresh blob of PB on each, found a result this morning.
  23. I must admit I'm drawn to a hide-a hose setup for our upstairs and rather like the idea of sweep inlets for the kitchen and maybe beside the fireplace.
  24. hopefully not the towel. Everybody needs to know where their towel is.
  25. must be a hand towel, it's not folded. also: no kids in that house else it's be in a crumpled heap anyway...
