Oil boiler just serviced and now short cycling?
dpmiller replied to Diablo's topic in Boilers & Hot Water Tanks
I was only asked to bleed it following an outage and when diagnosed it was handier to get her to call the local OFTEC guy as he's at the far end of the estate and I was away working the next day anyway. We both use the same trade outlet. -

Ah... hang on a mo. Is this a Riello burner? If so my neighbour just had this happen. Oilpump. Would make pressure on purge, but as soon as the solenoid opens pressure drops to zero. Brief puff of flame then nothing. I opened the pump and it was full of glittery bits. -
papier mache was the old way of dealing with this kinda thing?

Is it going into lockout (red light on?)if it's only running for a few secs and the boiler is defintely cold I'd definitely look at the photocell. If the boiler is hot then I might consider the pump... -
They do, yes. Quote request sent.

Whilst a powerful enough laser might well burst a balloon, my point was that the laser aint part of the IR measuring system...

laser's nothing to do with it, it's only a sight.

apply some black magic marker or the like to the pipe (or the shiny PHE) first, as clean copper doesn't give a good reading.

Wall Mounted Basin - Tap Connection

Spotted this as a new item in BES might be handy for this kind of app. https://www.bes.co.uk/flat-faced-angled-isolation-valve-15mm-x-1-2-bsp-pm-23571 -
Not as yet. Kinda put off by the amount of negative press they get tbh.

just for a comparative pricepoint, we're looking at roughly 35m2 including composite front door, sizeable multipanel front windows, and a set of french doors, over 16 openings. Supply and fit 70mm UPVC wih foiled exterior and units in 4/20/4 DG with warm edge and low-E, we're looking between £170 and £200/m2

they rebrand Titon units IIRC.

Surely the groundworks you need permission for are any commencements. Any precommencements (clearance, site levelling and land drainage) are F-all to do with BC.

What tools/electronic gadgets to set out?

I bought a £15 chinese laser measure (branded Snoway) off Ebay and I've got to say, it's superb. Deadly accurate and with a good bright laser. -
And knowing how unobservant many drivers are, probably a good idea...

Members' experiences of Timber frame and slab suppliers
dpmiller replied to TerryE's topic in Timber Frame
What might help, is a slight change in terminology. I see plenty of "MBC frame" "MBC build" and "MBC slab" but is there really anything unique about the product? Surely it's a TF or passiv slab *by* MBC. It's not a Hoover, it's a vacuum cleaner. -
Carbon Air Filter
dpmiller replied to MikeGrahamT21's topic in Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR)
You need a fair old area of enclosure to stop carbon granules being terribly restrictive, from my fumecupboard experience. Does mean dear, but also means plenty of storage capacity. http://www.carbonfiltersdirect.com/ are my supplier of chioce for carbon cassettes if anyone fancies building a housing around one.
