  1. Garage should be on an RCD already, no?
  2. you can fit it either gappy or seamless depending on skill, it seems. Some installers can lose the horizontal joints better than others.
  3. google Z-stone or Z-clad. You might however find there is one local distributor and many resellers...
  4. So we've now got a field of mostly yellow dying grass. Good. Brought Sandy down today and we put posts out to get a look at the footprint. Until now she's been saying "are you sure there's enough room for a bit of a garden?" (site being trianglular is hard to visualise); today... "the garden looks mahoosive, is that all the size the house is?" Yes, I think it'll all work out nicely.
  5. TR Fasteners Mallusk, Swift Screws in Belfast, or call in with Graham in Powertran in Ards and he'll get you anything you need.
  6. no, for my spec (open panel, .15 walls, .11 ceiling, with AT kit) of all those that complied directly MBC was dearest by a sizeable chunk, like 20-30%
  7. from my research, there are plenty of the NI based companies that are installing frame kits into the mainland UK here's a few to try, I've had discussions with most of them re. our project and their open panel kits were ALL cheaper than MBC like-for-like. Kilbroney Leadon Kudos McCavana QTF Unique TTFC They've all got slightly different offerings, from bare installed frame kits, through felting and battening/ supply of insulation/airtightness/PB/ windows/ MVHR, and or fitting of all the above too. None however offer a direct slab or passive slab option.
  8. /other timber frame companies are available, also.
  9. That Bio Pure is a bit pricey no?
  10. plastic options too- https://www.tradelineupvc.co.uk/index.php?Page=product&ProductID=1124 dryfix has them all clamped down w/ plates and screws/
  11. /allegedly.
  12. aye true that. Hopefully it had long enough to soak in first.
  13. been around for a long time, used to be known as Airflow Developments and were the go-to people for anemometers for accurate reading in lab fume cupboards etc.
  14. Forgoing the cocktails for today, I took advantage of a dry day to liberally douse all 0.58a with glyphosate. Checked the mains pressure while I was down too, looks like just over 3 bar and filling the sprayer pretty darned quick. Received a sample rooftile that interested me from Sandtoft yesterday. We've looked at Tapco, Iko, Cambrian, but this Britlock tile really impresses. Much more rigid than the Tapco/Iko offerings, and looks like it goes on more conveniently than Cambrian- less fiddly clips needed. Looks very "real" too, Sandy immediately showed her preference for it.
  15. know anything about Garo? http://www.meteorelectrical.com/distribution-control/consumer-units-accessories-1/garo-10-amp-30ma-1-module-rcbo-type-b.html
  16. which side is the wall, and which is the centre of the span?
  17. Well this info came from our PC who was chasing the case up, I'd be pretty sure that as a planning professional he's going to get a straighter answer than if I was to call up. No, all bases were definitely covered in the application- have a read the D&A statement...
  18. A little bird tells me there are twenty-five cases in front of us in Planning. Sounds like another couple of months?
  19. ^ I'll add to that if you do have MR16s that have failed on an AC supply, chances are that replacing the PSU with a DC one and then *reversing* any that still don't light in their sockets could well be a money saver, as I've never seen an internal rectifier fail completely, just in one direction...
  20. run it for a while, the brushes might need to bed in.
  21. I fitted a switch backplate as a nightlight in the youngster's room. Not that MK one, can't remember the brand but it's a white LED rather than a neon and works just fine with either a CFL or LED in the circuit.
  22. Now I know I posted them in my intro thread but for completeness- plans https://forum.buildhub.org.uk/ipb/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=5724
  23. Yup, I've 5l of Gallup XL sitting in the garage already. I'd like to say we'll wait for regrowth before applying it but it all depends on how impatient digger man is.
  24. About 500m as the crow flies to the back wall of the estate, Neil. The Mountstewart Road is the north-eastern boundary of the estate.
  25. You reckon Dave? They're not in active growth and that's the advice I was given. Hey ho, the digger will be sorting them anyway. Oh I've just noticed the link to the planning file I posted previously is poo. If anyone wants a look, go to http://epicpublic.planningni.gov.uk/publicaccess/ and then reference LA06/2017/1336/F
