  1. Why not use a 50mm concrete blinding and then 130mm PIR and 100mm concrete over the lot ..??
  2. Try Sterling Build https://www.sterlingbuild.co.uk/product/rooflite-duro-apx-b700-white-pvc-centre-pivot-roof-window
  3. BCO will not enter a site they deem unsafe - I've seen them walk away and not complete an inspection. Also remember you have subbies or suppliers entering site - you have a duty of care toward them
  4. @Ed Davies thinking about making a drum of it (or using a fish pond filter) in the kitchen extracts to catch some of the grease before it heads into the ducting
  5. Looks like a picture from one of those HSE reports that ends with the amount of fine the company got for unsafe working practices.....
  6. This stuff looks quite good - would like to know how porous it is and what the flow impedance is https://www.thefoamshop.co.uk/product/453-193/10-ppi-RETICULATED-FOAM Would be useful as packing either side of a pollen filter to allow maximum flow to the filter
  7. You could use a thin coat stop bead 3mm back from the frame and then skim up to that, backfill the gap with decent sealant once you’ve tidied it all up.
  8. Any reason for a 215mm inner block ..?? You could drop that to 100mm and gain 115mm inner space. Also, push the floor insulation up to 250 or 300mm and you’re at a really good spec all round. What is the significance of the light green blocks ..???
  9. Yep plan to do the same with some MDF, sealant and gloss paint. Then use a car pollen filter from eBay to do the prefiltering as they can be had for £3-4 each so swapping every 3 months is no hardship.
  10. I think the £6k for the sanitaryware is light - you can easily spend that on what you have listed. I'm with @jack on this, a 16Kw is overkill even at building regs standards. That Grant ASHP is a bit lumpy on price too... nearly £7k plus another £1k for the cylinder..?? Copper all through..?? Why..??
  11. @Nickfromwales I’m sure when I spoke to Trevor you could do it but it had to be a 300 or a 400 to get the coil in. https://www.telford-group.com/horizontal.html
  12. Telford do a horizontal UVC that may well fit in your eaves space. I think the Welsh windbag fitted one - @Nickfromwales isn’t that correct..?
  13. Yes ... and when I had recreated the model in Excel and reduced the item costs it’s come in about 65% of their estimate.
  14. That is exactly what I have done - 300 litre UVC on a timed 9Kw ASHP load from 1-3:30am taking it to 45c, then the ASHP kicks over to the UFH slab. Bottom immersion kicks in at 5-6:30am to take the tank to 63c. Towel rails and bathroom UFH mats on a separate circuit to heat up for an hour up to 7am. All main heat loads on E7. Top immersion is on a switch as a boost if needed (will eventually be Sonoff/ITTTT controlled) so that’s the only heat out of E7 hours.
  15. So basically it’s a cylinder in a steel box with a Willis type system in the top to heat water at a slightly faster rate for DHW... so the “combi” bit is about a combination of DHW and heating in t the same box. Any pricing ..?
  16. We fitted a date stone which is signed by everyone on site that day on the back in Sharpie marker. In the early 1980’s we boarded up some doors at a local scout campsite and it was only when we demolished the build a few years ago we found the graffiti left behind them.
  17. Nope... and unless he’s on 3 phase he won’t get an electric combi as he will need 25Kw to water and thats his full load on a single 100A supply.
  18. @redtop I would just make a catch trough for the mix you need and ask the plant to put a retarder in it - even with a machine you will struggle to mix consistently.
  19. If they need anything it will be shuttering around the tops which you can make from a £1 B&Q (other retailers are available) black bucket. Take the handle off , turn it upside down and use a jigsaw to cut the bottom out around the base ring. Now set it where you want the top of the post, dig it in and level it and just build up soil around to hold in place. Now do a a 4:1 wettish mix, tip into the “bucket form” and tamp it as you go with a bit of timber. Smooth over the top and let it go off for a couple of days. Then it’s just a case of pull the soil back and lift off the bucket and you have a nice neat cast top.
  20. Only if I was wearing chainsaw boots.... that is chainsaw chain without the cutter teeth !!
  21. Don't do this ..!! Postcrete is not structural ..!! Mix it 4:1 and do it properly.
  22. Depending on how you order your sand (bagged or bulk) make sure the labourer takes from each bag for every mix. That will even out any variations per bag as that will show all the variations if you don’t mix materials. And a gauging box is a must ..!!!
  23. I think we calculated the combined buying power of BuildHub was circa £60m at any one point in time. How we actually use that is a very different question ..!
  24. In that case just dish the metal a bit around the washers ..?? Should recess them enough.
  25. Isn’t that where the bolts for the frame go, so a couple of penny washers and a coach bolt through the frame on each one .??
