  1. I thought there where lots of us that had done it ourselves i did all mine and I know of two others who have done the lot.
  2. I think you need two different trades here, your window fitters won’t be interested in fixing any poor work unless they have quoted for it previously, they will want to chuck them in and foam them up and run away, they will probably be subbie fitters working for the window company. I would rip out everything first and see what you are dealing with then work out a plan on how to fix the reveals, if that means another builder then he needs to be there to fix the mess as the windows are ripped out.
  3. Have you had a quote of anybody saying this is how long it will take.
  4. @ToughButterCup approach is right, nobody will care as much as you, however he’s maths needs a bit of working. I think he’s been drinking de-icer again. If he thinks he’s putting up 50m a day then that will lead you to believe you can do it in 5 days. If you believe that then you will be in for a shock. I built an 11m long by 2.4m high wall one afternoon just as a tester, it took two hours and I was amazed how it flew up. So how come it took another 7 weeks to get the rest up to 2.7m ready for the first pour. After the first pour it took another 4 weeks to finish. So 11 weeks that was 2 men for 3 days a week and me on my own for 2 days.
  5. To many variables. With your site it will increase a lot, how many hours will it take to carry the blocks down to the lower portion, somebody will need to do it. Full block walls fly up, but as soon as you come to a window it all slows down reinforcement placement can take ages, if you have any openings over 900mm they will require reinforcement. I think from a guess the reinforcement over my 5m opening probably took a day to do on its own gable ends, cutting the blocks on an angle for gables takes ages. All windows will need props cutting to hold them up as your pour the concrete.
  6. That will be decided by the structural engineer based on the soil survey.
  7. It has been talked about. More discussions needed.
  8. I don’t know that’s why I asked, I have a lot of walls that will only have a light switch on, so I’m not going to batten the whole wall just for one switch, that’s the walls I was going to chase out. @willbish thinks the low smoke cable is ok in contact with the eps, if you look at any American vids they are still chasing the eps and pushing the cables in, but they are Americans ??‍♂️ Im just trying to be careful so a 3m drop down from ceiling to switch I plan to fit conduit to be safe.
  9. Have 9 inch grinders been banned from site use ?? i thought they where on the list far to many casualties. If you are are unfamiliar with this sort of thing then get the petrol cut of saw, the angle you use it means you lean over it so better control. With the 9 inch electric you get lots of power but it is light enough to do stupid shit, you can climb a ladder with it ??‍♂️ Use it at face height ??‍♂️ After personally knowing two lads that have had a kickback from one and been hit in the face mine stays firmly in the garage and has not been used in 5 years.
  10. Why did you not get out of the basket and sit astride the ridge ?‍♂️ Has the lift gone back ?
  11. That would be down to your structural engineer to decide, based on your soil survey.
  12. Has the MDPE pipe been properly sealed into the side of that chamber, or is it just pushed through a hole? Because that’s a much greater concern if so... @Randomusername why’s that. Its not amazing and could be done better, but what problem do you see with it.
  13. @ToughButterCup sorry bud, no easy way to say it. You need to pull the sink out, should only take an hour sink out, dry everything, seal edge with waterproof pva or ct1 clean everything, put sink back. Out in the morning dry all day back in next day. Dont dwell on it just crack on.
  14. Need a few more details roof build up sketch of roof build up insulation type and levels do you have an internal vapour barrier what type of roof ventilation
  15. Worked there as well. Money doesn’t buy you taste.
  16. I did a lot of work in there, @DevilDamo the first time I went there I was only 24-25 and a bit of a newbie when it came to multi millionaire clients, I walked into this huge building being constructed and started talking to a chippy, I started gasping and saying how amazing it was, cor look at that, cor and that. He turned to me and looked me straight in the face and told me we where in the garage, the house hadn’t been started yet. ☺️☺️ I remember a place we worked on that they paid 12 million for and then knocked it down.
  17. Yea but that’s intentional not accidental. ??
  18. Yes @Mr Punter, I bet even if installed it will be poor.
  19. Fibber. pipes look to straight
  20. Is that at wentworth i worked on a few in there and they had that sort of look.
  21. I’m not sure what sort of budget you have for this project, but let’s say for instance your going to be spending £150,000 plus for this, then I think there are better ways to go about it. No doubt it will look stunning, but it’s never going to be well insulated or a very airtight house. Just depends what you are after. I think it will be similar to a 1990s barn conversion, nice to look at but will still cost a bundle to heat.
  22. Ok so that’s very clear, if it’s not there then. Im not sure really somebody has made a big boo boo.
  23. Are you feeling it at low level due to the gap under a door close to you, my extract system in another house sucks air under a door that you could fly a kite in the draft, open the door and you would never notice it, it just seems concentrated on that 10mm gap so feels more powerful than it is.
  24. This depends, it might be nothing to do with the builder. Who designed it, this should have been done at architectural stage and signed of by building regs. Your builder is not responsible for fixing everything that has been poorly designed you should have a vapour barrier at ceiling level, this should be in the design, and then the builder builds to that specification. If your spec is ceiling joists with 12.5mm plasterboard and skim, then I’m afraid that is rather under spec for a major refurbishment sorry but if your builder has installed the vents that are on your drawings then he has done what was asked, if there are vents missing then obviously he needs to rectify.
