  1. That would be down to your structural engineer to decide, based on your soil survey.
  2. Has the MDPE pipe been properly sealed into the side of that chamber, or is it just pushed through a hole? Because that’s a much greater concern if so... @Randomusername why’s that. Its not amazing and could be done better, but what problem do you see with it.
  3. @ToughButterCup sorry bud, no easy way to say it. You need to pull the sink out, should only take an hour sink out, dry everything, seal edge with waterproof pva or ct1 clean everything, put sink back. Out in the morning dry all day back in next day. Dont dwell on it just crack on.
  4. Need a few more details roof build up sketch of roof build up insulation type and levels do you have an internal vapour barrier what type of roof ventilation
  5. Worked there as well. Money doesn’t buy you taste.
  6. I did a lot of work in there, @DevilDamo the first time I went there I was only 24-25 and a bit of a newbie when it came to multi millionaire clients, I walked into this huge building being constructed and started talking to a chippy, I started gasping and saying how amazing it was, cor look at that, cor and that. He turned to me and looked me straight in the face and told me we where in the garage, the house hadn’t been started yet. ☺️☺️ I remember a place we worked on that they paid 12 million for and then knocked it down.
  7. Yea but that’s intentional not accidental. ??
  8. Yes @Mr Punter, I bet even if installed it will be poor.
  9. Fibber. pipes look to straight
  10. Is that at wentworth i worked on a few in there and they had that sort of look.
  11. I’m not sure what sort of budget you have for this project, but let’s say for instance your going to be spending £150,000 plus for this, then I think there are better ways to go about it. No doubt it will look stunning, but it’s never going to be well insulated or a very airtight house. Just depends what you are after. I think it will be similar to a 1990s barn conversion, nice to look at but will still cost a bundle to heat.
  12. Ok so that’s very clear, if it’s not there then. Im not sure really somebody has made a big boo boo.
  13. Are you feeling it at low level due to the gap under a door close to you, my extract system in another house sucks air under a door that you could fly a kite in the draft, open the door and you would never notice it, it just seems concentrated on that 10mm gap so feels more powerful than it is.
  14. This depends, it might be nothing to do with the builder. Who designed it, this should have been done at architectural stage and signed of by building regs. Your builder is not responsible for fixing everything that has been poorly designed you should have a vapour barrier at ceiling level, this should be in the design, and then the builder builds to that specification. If your spec is ceiling joists with 12.5mm plasterboard and skim, then I’m afraid that is rather under spec for a major refurbishment sorry but if your builder has installed the vents that are on your drawings then he has done what was asked, if there are vents missing then obviously he needs to rectify.
  15. Haven’t insulated colds, hots and hot return all run next to each other in same 28mm insulation. Thats is a lot of pipes @LA3222, I have another cold not on the Water softer, then another 7 hot returns i have 4 bathrooms a boot room a kitchen and a utility, so 21 runs in total. so yours is either huge or you must be running a separate hot to every tap.
  16. @LA3222 that’s the cold, I started of with 16 colds but the basins and wc are on the same pipe so it cut out 3.
  17. Yes wall boarded and painted, it’s one of my pet hates with unfinished walls, just because it’s the plant room. Loft above this area, ceiling will be boarded with a big letterbox cut out, then a strip cut with finger cutouts to slot around pipes.
  18. Check this out, bit chuffed with this, never used a bender before.
  19. Just had a bit of a rant in the plumbers merchants, I don’t understand who makes up the pricing so I went in and spent £2000 on pipe and fittings, I then went back to buy something different and the price was high so I had a moan i was told that they apply a discount on my next purchase based on what I had bought previously so the next time I buy pipe it will be cheaper i told the idiot that I won’t want anymore pipe, what I want is a discount on the bloody £10,000 I’m going to spend on 4 bathrooms.
  20. And they wonder why I buy everything on line. I currently have around 4-5 deliveries a day and nothing is coming from a local supplier apart from toolstation for odds and sods. Im so pissed off with pricing lately that if I get my invoice for my account and it is high compared to online I just take the stuff back for a refund.
  21. Have a look on YouTube lots of vids using the new foam core boards some as thin as 12 mm. Glue and screw as you have mentioned. If you need more room you will need to hack the plaster off one wall.
  22. Whoopie, i said seven
  23. If you look up the tile make, the manufacturer normally has details of how high the facia should sit in relation to the battens, it normally sits 20-25 mm higher than the rafter tails. Do a mock up and look look at it side on,you will soon see if they are hanging low or kicking up.
