  1. Hi Ian i would go with the tilt fillets on the top Youd be making a lot of work for yourself creating a fall with the joists Berrys will make your taper fillets to any fall you require and deliver free of charge i used 70mil down to 10 mil over 5 mtrs £4 each i wouldn't worry about the wall plate If you use 15 mill threaded bar in a staggered pattern All fixed with resin It will go nowhere
  2. Interesting what rule to you break
  3. Yes well done you must be relieved
  4. Thanks for the quick Reply's My wife Deborah has got bit spooked with people keep saying that we look like we are almost finished in actual fact we are miles away The outside looks good bit a basic shell inside Great links also thanks again Gary
  5. Hi Just quick question At what stage will we all have to start paying council tax on our newly built homes Is it after BC have done the final sign off Or sooner Gary
  6. I've stopped watching the nightmare tenant programs We have several rentals that we have rented over the past 15 years or so and never had a problem with any of our tenants there are many WORKING people out there that will rent from you, pay on time and look after your property
  7. I've not heard of the adhesive that you have highlighted though the price is very cheap Ive used Sika polymer adhesive absolutely bomb proof Would work a treat on a liquid screed I even used it on ashault Only drawback is like all Sika products Not cheep I think the last time I purchased some it was around £100 for a 5 ltr tub Oh make sure your floor is totally dry and leave the flooring were it is going to be laid for about a week Also a good idea is to purchase a humidity pack for about £10 just leave were the floor is being laid Hope this helps
  8. Busiest time there was five of us could only smell the additive As I've already stated I hosed and cleaned it out once a week Far cleaner than many I've seen Though I don't think that I would want to sit on a porta loo i worked on a site for a very large contractor Opened the door of a four cubical toilet van type A rat ran past me I reported it to the site manager Without looking up He shouted Did you kill it ! A week later there in house HSE was having a winge about vis vests I mentioned the state of the toilet block He replied I don't get involved with that stuff See the site manager With the exception of city centre sites Things are still pretty grim on many sites
  9. Your better off buying one i paid £120 emptied twice in the last ten month due another on Friday £30 a time i bought a 25 lite of toilet solution and added some each week and hosed out the muddy boot prints each week probably sell it for the same as I paid when we have finished
  10. We've UFH and rads upstairs also our garage is to far from the house to site a boiler So we have decided to locate the boiler in the utility room with a hot water storage tank below hope this is of help Gary
  11. What a difference looks great
  12. Hi We went through all this last year we are lined with 12 mtr trees down the side of the house and along the back of the garages The council tree expert told us deep piles ONLY option The engineer that I've used before Who is tge local authority consultant Just laughed and said I wish these people would stick to what they know and decided deep strip foundations 1.8 suriubded by clay board To allow for heave he also specified BnB for the house we used double skin block on the garages but decided to put a independent concrete base in As already stated the type of floor won't make any difference to the trees In our case it was simply to allow movement To give you a little idea of cost our house base is just short of 150 mtrs We pretty much filled the trenches So no foundation blocks cheaper to do this than pay for labour and blocks £1000 materials Brick £850 labour BnB £4000 Could have done this for less November weather closing in All done in a day the setting out can add up I borrowed a friends EDM and did it in an afternoon and set out corners for bricklayers a week later We had a large two story building blocking our acces The ground worker and his lad started at 7am I arrived onsite at ten The building had gone and majority of it was in the ground to for the lorrys to be loaded on Amibg how much gets done on the first day good luck. Gary
  13. The short answer is The engineer I was going to stone it He advised me that in the unlikely event of a flood i would be relying on the water seeping away under the house Leaving sewage under the house So we laid a central drain with six metres of concrete falling towards it it cost me an extra £350 plus half a days labour for two not a fortune in the grand scheme of things
  14. As you say Vijay They can't go anywhere I would have preferred to use Clay but plastic vents came with the periscope vents
  15. If you have a block over it you'll be fine Mine was only one block high so I had to lay 2 course of brick then a lintel
  16. You will still need to put a lintel in each one
  17. I just left a brick out and cut a concrete lintel down to 600 and put it over the missing brick main reason was to allow underfloor ventilation But also so that any water would not be traped and would make its way to a drain under the centre of the B&B floor BC signed it off without ant issues
  18. Just my own personal preference The type you describe wouldn't bother me manufacture defect But when I see some of the adds with piles of the stuff stored outside with ripped sheeting I wouldn't put it under a screed i paid 42 per sheet for 140 mill celotex can you really get seconds for £21 per sheet
  19. Thanks Dave screed going down in the morning
  20. I wouldn't use seconds for UFH Try Varleys
  21. Gyprock joint cement is fine prime with SBR several hours before
  22. It's not so much the drying, it's the curing with UFH. Cadnans who are doing my UFH next week still advise gradually heating the screed over 28 days before tiling even when using dura matting. Years ago before the advent of flexible adhesives we used to screed in the morning and lay boards and tile in the afternoon. I can't remember any of those lifting. This will be the first time I've had UFH in our home so I'll err on the side of caution.
  23. Your still looking at a day per millimetre if you want sand and cement screed If you go for 50 mil pumped concrete it cures in a matter of days 25% extra though
