under which law…? Perfectly legal to purchase something like Rootblast which is Glyp680 and then dilute in water as an amateur, but not as a professional. Onus is on the supplier to not sell you the product in the first place, and it does clearly state on most / all versions of liquid Glyp360 upward that it’s for professional use only and must be used in accordance with the MAFF guidance. It doesn’t state it is illegal to use it for domestic use.

Could be a hairline crack in the porcelain. Need to strip it back and clean it all up, take the waste out of the sink and then put it all back together with CT1

17k for air source, 25-35 for ground source?!?!
PeterW replied to Danny42's topic in Ground Source Heat Pumps (GSHP)
From experience, GSHP is noisier than ASHP and the unit is internal usually whereas ASHP is usually outdoors. -
Pink Glyphosate is the same as Roundup, it is just the agricultural version and comes in many colours depending on the manufacturer. It has a slightly higher strength but is not illegal to use at home and is marketed as Gallup XL, Roundup 360 etc which relates to the concentration per litre of active product. So this is down to long term extended contact at high concentration - used correctly it is safe for occasional use however the issue is usually people don’t read the instructions. Lots of things are dangerous in high concentration levels - even post mix syrups for soft drinks are marked hazardous when transported in bulk..! The legalities are around the use of these products relates to professional use and the correct handling under the MAFF guidance, usually referred to as the Safe Handling Regulations. They do not refer to home usage of products that are purchased at slightly lower active percentages. If you want to make any plant pesticide or herbicide more efficient, add 1% by volume of cheap washing up liquid to the mix ..!

Drip tray rather than waste pipe for boiling water tap?
PeterW replied to Adsibob's topic in Waste & Sewerage
You may find the boiling water tap needs a tundish / pressure outlet so a drain is required. Going through a sound wall isn’t an issue with a drain, just seal round it with foam.- 4 replies

Screwfix Drill/Impact Driver Twin Pack Bargains - DeWalt vs Makita
PeterW replied to Oxbow16's topic in Tools & Equipment
Yep but won’t do the newer batteries at full chat as the comms between battery and charger are different. If you have the latest (genuine) batteries they charge much slower. -

Thats a rapid charger. The RA is the old version that is standard charge rate -
G3 done properly is an hour or so job, and you should cool down and drain down then restart it etc. along with checking controls. Boiler service around here is probably £80, plus £45 for a G3 so £125. Can’t see why the service on an ASHP is more than that, I pay £350 for a Sanyo CO2 ASHP and 2 Fujitsu A2A split units including a sanitizer clean of the indoor A2A units.

beware that may not be possible. What is the 5 acres currently defined as ..? If it is agricultural or paddocks you will need to be careful as planning will not allow you to do this. Given orientation you need to flip the whole house 90° clockwise as you have all your glazing north, and a very expensive overhang roof doing nothing. A wider plot layout would help here.

This is currently £135 with the SF10 voucher code. A pair of genuine 5Ah batteries is more than that ..

Avoiding poorly designed, fancy(price wise?) devices
PeterW replied to puntloos's topic in Electrics - Kitchen & Bathroom
We have a flat bed Samsung commercial microwave. If you remove the base panel to clean it, underneath is a spindle with what is basically a steel pressed “fan” that I am assuming acts like a rotating reflector for the microwaves. -
Your bedroom has an amazing view of the garden and the nice bifolds, yet your bed looks at a blank wall … Use the hall cupboard for the hot water or even an attic space assuming this isn’t flat roof ..??

Cooling UFH slab, using Rainwater harvest tank.
PeterW replied to Jenki's topic in Underfloor Heating
Warming up a large body of water to room temperature with an organic and unfiltered feed of food and microbes is a recipe for growth of some particular nasties. I’d leave well alone- 5 replies

Kingspan Aeromax not producing heat and ice cold rads

4 way valve is stuck in defrost position. A slight tap with a hammer sometimes releases a stuck solenoid. -
Looks like 30-300°C as far as I can see on fan setting

They do clip out pretty easily tbh - I left them in once by accident and they went a lovely shade of blueing but they have since faded … They pull out front first then unclip at the back.

Hot tub every day of the week !! They suck power to keep warm and are a nightmare on electricity bills. If he wants to make it better then get at least another 70mm of PIR on the lid and check how much is round the tub - I’ve seen them with 30-40mm of spray foam on them which is far from adequate

How much can I bend ceiling plasterboard horizontally?
PeterW replied to epsilonGreedy's topic in Plastering & Rendering
Yup..! my spreads does it by eye - compound curves, the lot. He packed out the bottom edge of a valley as he wasn’t happy where it came into the room and it’s done with bonding and bead and it’s like a knife edge it is that straight. Mates new developer box looks like it’s been plastered with a plastic butter knife … -
DPC above wall plate on parapet
PeterW replied to McCracken's topic in Bricklaying, Blockwork & Mortar
Never seen a DPC at that point - is there not a cavity tray further down..? And what is the roof build up above that wall plate ..? -
I would want to know what is on top of that concrete lintel

Welcome. How much spare height have you got as you should ideally put insulation in assuming you’re going electric UFH as it will just be heating the concrete slab otherwise.

If the ballast is just a mix of fines and small stones then no sand required. If it’s very lumpy doing 3 ballast, 2 sand and 1 cement by volume will be fine. Use the frost proofer if you have it but not really needed in October !
