  1. ouch .. £21 exc Vat trade … someone’s making money !!
  2. Never seen anyone powerfloat and polish a sand and cement screed. It doesn’t polish the same way as concrete as far as I am aware. Has this been shown to you ..?
  3. That’s the skim job and the boards - no amount of paint will fix that.
  4. The sleepers aren’t a full retaining wall - they are a sound block for a lot of their height. Seemed to tag them to scaffold poles to retain them.

Why not just add in a 4x2 glued and screwed to the rafter tails and 600mm up from the wall plate ..? Would stiffen the rafter ends, then glue and screw a ply/OSB sheet under the tails which would essentially make it a single cassette that doesn’t need any post. Only other thought is use it for the downpipe ..?
  6. Well Margaret …. Our Local TS is using a mix of the Husqvarna electric and the 2 stroke depending on where they are working. The electric ones are very good - I now run a top handle makita and it’s very light and very powerful, only downside is it can chew its way through batteries.
  7. @TomTrying to work out why you have 200mm concrete then 75mm screed on top ..?? Have you got a section drawing to share ..?
  8. Errr … last one I had was 200cc ? Seriously, consider the electric versions now which match your battery of choice. They are much nicer to use, and clone batteries are cheap.
  9. Just magic - shows what you can do with a lot of graft. Loved the kitchen colours too ..! Would never have thought about concrete blocks for paving either.
  10. Watch Wickes orders .. they are based on local stock not central stock. I ordered a load of timber for a date about 5 days ahead and when it came they had to deliver it in 3 different orders from 3 different stores. It being “in stock” when you order doesn’t guarantee it being in stock when they need to deliver it.
  11. If the supply line is 25mm MDPE then it may be worth dropping it to 20mm to the garage - you don’t need the flow to an outside tap. I don’t rate those Floplast MDPE fittings - I would get something from Pipestock https://www.pipestock.com/mdpe/mdpe-pipe-fittings/reducing-tee
  12. Depends on size of floors as tbh you can do more than one floor with a manifold.
  13. One of these - cheaper than stealing https://condell-ltd.com/keystone-ang-k-single-leaf-lintel-1050mm
  14. Wickes paints hands down. Use the scrubbable emulsion on walls and ceilings, the kitchen paint dries to a light sheen if you want something not flat matt.
  15. Yes… I used to work in a building in Nottingham that had a set of “suspended” meeting rooms hanging from the ceiling of a huge atrium - you accessed them via walkways with glass sides. The ones on the first 2 floors got used, the higher you went, the more “availability” you found as the walkways were about 3m long and the meeting rooms had floor to ceiling glazing ….
  16. OK … How..??! Standard box to min standards with a gas boiler ..?? Lots of glazing ..? Not enough insulation ..?
  17. Melton BS do self build - very good too
  18. No issues with levels - it will be a single manifold
  19. Motor isn’t the main source of noise - the air flow is. Is the kitchen on the ground floor ..? If so you will have issues with ducting as you don’t want to create a “U” that can collect condensation / fat etc.
  20. If you mean a downdraft hob then they most likely recirculate. You need to know what hob you want to plan it into the kitchen - some of them the motor is huge.
  21. One on the right with the Y laid flat and then a 90° elbow pointing upward. Will push the flow down the line. Upward tee is a bad idea.
  22. Yes drains can be built over in an ST region as can sewers up to 200mm. only issues will be power (ie 11kV or higher) and gas, especially 63mm or larger.
  23. Drains will work fine but the BCO may say no …! Not that difficult to sort now, pain in the bum to sort when there are 7 courses of masonry on top.
  24. Buy one… the older IM350 is bomb proof and is only £45 to have fully serviced. You can buy them for £200 or so on eBay, at the end of the build you can have it serviced and sell it for what you paid. It will pay for itself many times over.
