  1. If you want someone local to you, we used these guys to supply. The product is very good and very quick on delivery Warmstar
  2. I suggested this but happy to just use the isolator switches on the boxes in the wardrobe behind the bathroom
  3. Make sure that any protective braiding runs more than 50mm in solid ceilings. Basically it’s an instruction for EU markets where solid ceilings are used more.
  4. @lizzie when the installer rocks up you can ask him why this switch is off
  5. Plant room..! Time for some photos I think..!
  6. Hmmm.... 45c flow temp ..??!! That’s how they are getting the heat in at 200mm centres but that is way too hot for a passive build. Sounds like the flow at the manifold is not set correctly either as there are some weird flow settings too. Has the installer been back to you ..?? edited to add : is there a buffer in this lot or not..? Is it flow from the boiler straight to the manifolds ..??
  7. Pretty much just finishing an identical build with electric UFH in bathroom and ensuite and both with electric towel rails. All this is on one circuit that is controlled by a central time clock.
  8. You can get a wet system that goes down to 14mm from memory - it uses a 10mm pipe in a 14mm former and then you have the tiles etc on top. It will all depend on your insulation levels and whether you are after comfort (ie tiles not cold) or heating as that defines the heat output needed.
  9. Bit that always worried me about these ones was the “innovative design” which means there are compartments inside it which could lead to airlocks. ESP do one which is just a big tank I think - I’ve used a copper cylinder which isn’t designed for high pressure so run everything at 1 bar which is perfectly adequate.
  10. Thats correct - they pop up to allow hot water into the loops. Do you have the schematic ..??? Would be useful to see what was designed.
  11. Agree with this although I fitted all at 600c apart from the landing with the bathroom and they are 300c..! Feels very solid... The other thing is where the deck goes as where there is a room in roof above the kitchen (ensuite) the deck doesn’t go to the walls as it was deemed false economy but it does make a difference and there is a little more flex in it. Really shows that the floor is a composite structure when the deck is glued to the joists.
  12. Those UH8 manifold units are a b!tch to diagnose unless you take the covers off.. It would be useful to know if they are slaved to each other and which one is controlling the boiler. @lizzieDoes every room have a stat..? looks like only 2 or 3 zones are calling for heat, put your hand on the pump - it should be warm not hot. My guess is the manifold actuators aren't coming on or someone has played with the flow settings - both need the installer to rectify...
  13. Pan outlets can be square as the pan covers them - don't f&%k about trying to cut round holes !!
  14. Yep - that’s the “dumb” wiring centre from Wunda. Switched live - T4 - goes to the live on the board. The whole board goes live when the stat fires so it’s basically a way of controlling the boiler or pumps and the manifold actuators. How many zones have you got..?

    Hi there

Welcome ..! Hope you find plenty of useful info..? Please post details of your project too - we like photos and plans..! Out of interest how did you find us ..??
  16. Like @Ed Davies suggests, can’t you just add another ply layer on the top ..? Add firrings, insulate between them using PIR or even EPS then top with ply and membrane again ..??
  17. Really ..??! I get it if you go a ‘lot’ over but an optimiser can put 10-15% increase on. Or is this based on deemed production ..?? So if you start selling back more than the 4kw..?
  18. I doubt they would notice as it’s a fully automated system. There are loads of factors that affect generation, and adding something like an optimiser to an existing MCS install could do the same, as could just trimming trees.
  19. Just a word of warning with the kichen vs house design... Always make sure that you keep both designs in line ..! I did a kitchen to a design that had been done before a block was laid and found the doorway had been widened at the last minute and the 500 tall cabinet next to the doorway no longer fitted ... ...on the upside, DIY Kitchens do refund you the cost of any doors that get returned ..!
  20. Saw these guys at one of the shows a while back and were very well made. Smart Parcel Box With Amazon though I’m starting to use the locker system as the drivers are getting atrocious ..! Downside is that some marketplace vendors don’t allow their products to go to lockers for some odd reason - and it’s not down to parcel size either.
  21. Do not even try and file it ..!!! How much water is collecting ..?? And it’s between coats but leave it 8 hours to properly dry.

    Gas sign off

Pretty much done exactly the same recently - induction hob, and then 800 drawer set immediately below.
  23. Matt or Silk is your preference. How long has the plaster been on the walls ..? Two weeks drying should see it fine to paint if it’s been drying naturally.
  24. DIY Kitchens have a decent planner system available and if you go up to the showroom they will help you out. The layout seems very spaced out, the island looks small though and I can’t work out what the gully underneath it is for ..?? On the main build it seems very traditional and done to just meet BRegs...?? Trickle vents rather than centralized MVHR..? Have you looked at run costs based on the build and see if you can improve anywhere ..?
  25. So the plumber is wrong ...! The constant temperature under the slab is around 8c. All year round. So anything above that will lose heat due to the differential temperature. Walls will fluctuate from -5 to +25 in reality, so losses are variable. Run the numbers through @JSHarris spreadsheet and change the uValue for the floor and look at the differences.
