Can anybody see any benefit in having electric ufh in the en-suite bathrooms (3) and bedrooms on wet ufh, that way if you want the main heating off in the warmer weather, but like a warm floor when you get out of the shower ?????.

What on earth does that mean. HYSTERESIS

Before I start to look at this loopcad thing, can you point me in sort of the right direction so a loop doesn’t want to be more than 100m i can have more than 1 loop in a zone i was planning on having 3 zones, 1, main living, dining, kitchen 2, bedrooms 3, bootroom. Any pointers

Icf blocks, like durisol, but not
Russell griffiths replied to Russell griffiths's topic in Building Materials
That could be them, I had a good look and they answer a lot of points that durisol miss. @Tom's Barn they have a stand at the Swindon self build centre, I haven’t seen them before lots of extras on offer over the competitors. -
I think the drama starts when you have a manifold in a cupboard and you have multiple pipes coming in through the door way.

G,day looking for a supplier for our underfloor heating design, pipe, manifold, pipe clips and any other bits you think I need. Cheers peeps.

Just starting to get some layouts done for the ufh what I want to know is how many people have more than one manifold, my thoughts are if I have one manifold it’s going to be a big old thing with a lot of pipes all coming back to it, leading to a very congested floor area in front of the manifold is there a benefit of having 2 or more manifolds to spread the pipework out a bit more evenly. I have designed the house with multiple linen, storage cupboards so I have plenty of space to put up to 3 manifolds if needed. 3 bedrooms all on the ground floor, plus open plan living, dining kitchen. Then an office and bootroom

Have you got an elevation drawing, there’s no reason to not have what you want it just depends if you want to pay for it.

My water table is ridiculously high which has dictated treatment plant height and so has meant high drains. My system has all been designed with a 1:80 fall, try this it may gain you some height. Are you definitely going insulated slab.

Can you not lift the height of the house a bit. Or is it already built.

Getting exciting at last!

Get any trees or hedges removed before bird nesting starts, or you won’t be able to do it until August when they have finished. -
Can anybody spread some light on the different types of spray foam insulation for instance with some of the closed cell types would you still need a vapour control layer on the warm side of the insulation? Or does this completely seal everything thing up do you still need a breathable membrane on top of your rafters under your counter battens or is there now no moisture that needs to escape trying to work out the associated costs that go with various different insulation types its ok thinking one thing is a good price but then add in £1000 worth of vapour control layer and it all adds up. Cheers confused as Normal.

Grip fill the one in the green tube apply to both surfaces and squidgy about as you put plate down to tear up any skin that has formed on it, as it skins over very fast

I have two internal walls in icf, but both project through the roof and up again i kept thinking how to do it in a different method but couldn’t work out a good method of providing the strength so just did them both in icf, glad I did as it’s solid.

About £40 per block.

Looks like to much money for a few full sheets and mainly off cuts.

You can order over length joists @Ed Davies that you then trim on site. -

Tbh I suppose there’s nothing to stop you laying an insulated slab that is your structural element, then having a screed on top with you ufh pipes in. -
Is that correct in that your gutter and roofline over hang the boundary.

you Probably need to iron what method your going to use before you spend to much time looking into the finer points i spent a good few weeks looking at a passive slab, only to find out that my finished floor height would not allow the build up associated with a slab, we had one structural engineer suggesting that we lay one slab and then insulate and build another slab on top just to get the 750mm height increase we needed. We ended up with block n beam as that suited our site issues probably better to get ground surveys done and engineering to establish how you going to do it first.
