  1. Not clear. do you already have a maintenance contract in place for a visit twice a year. if so an extra detector would normally have the installation cost and the uplift for the yearly maintenance as it’s another thing to check. my contracts generally go up 3-5% per year depending on the site, complexity etc. assuming this is a fire alarm system with a panel and not just mains heads.
  2. Didn’t think you could get a grant based system if you had a woodburner already installed?
  3. 5% retention- I’ve had builders walk away from more knowing the grief they will get will be gone….
  4. Some DNO’s fit isolation switches some don’t, so for the cost, best allow for a nice 4 pole wylex isolator
  5. What does the risk assessment say for this work, in my world everyone is responsible for their own mistakes
  6. I use the colour charts and let my internal customers choose and then get it mixed up Leylands/Crown The painter doesn’t like it, neither do I, so we ain’t using it.
  7. There is a traveller site a few miles away, farmer sold field to them, bank holiday Friday hundreds of tonnes of hardcore delivered to site. weekend site occupied. bank holiday Monday retrospective planning submitted. Green field site. burn at edge of site, MOD pipe under site site was originally for 6 families with 2 caravans.local Lib Dem councillor voted for them to stay 60 plus vehicles on site now.. it’s lovely….
  8. Can’t help I’m afraid, faced similar issues 20 years ago on a site, I sold for a profit so no drama, I felt like Inviting the traveller/gypsey community to stay for a while… they would get planning…
  9. https://camelot-forum.co.uk/phpBB3/viewforum.php?f=14 few guys on here doing what you have planned..
  10. I would have put 18mm ply on and left it at that. makes a neat install and makes it easy for fixings….
  11. I’ve been insulating a dormer window. joiner opened up the inside cheeks to let me have access to trusses etc. got 1 full sheet cut up and fitted and foamed in yesterday. Not finished yet but laser thermometer showed 3 degree difference on the internal wall that was insulted and the next section that hasn’t been done yet.

  13. Good luck with the project! im sitting in my 60m2 extension and it’s great! watch the mortar joins on those blocks to make sure the are fully filled and tape over the insulation joins with metal tape. good luck
  14. I’m sure the small print allows the company to cancel the contract if they are losing money….
  15. I get my FIT with SSE and never have a problem I just email them the info. generation meter read and info emailed last night!
  16. Plywood will be rotten in 10 years…. build an upstand in concrete as part of the foundation or block to raise it off the floor and alter the internal wall to allow for insulation
  17. I think it’s a general arrogance of trades that they know better. Some always learn, go on courses and improve knowledge and skills. Others use the same attitude and approach they learned as an apprentice ( assuming they did an apprenticeship of course) and come away with the infamous lines,, it’s always the way I do things, even though you issued a specification, drawing and they quoted on that, 9/10 the guy doin the work isn’t privy to that info and just does what he/she feels is correct…..
  18. Agree with the floor damage, we use floor protector and don’t employ dafties
  19. LVT down skirtings mist kitchen final painting. flooring down- nice easy surface, no cutting around haffits etc. skirtings, primed varnished etc mist coat, less mess when kitchen is in. fit kitchen finish paining and use.
  20. The only thing that can alter the existing fit contract is a change to the equipment relating to that install. a second install independent of the FIT install has no financial impact, it may impact the grid hence the DNO involvement if you choose to let them know.
  21. Have a look over at the Camelot forum, many users of the Navitron forum on there, who have done lots of these projects
  22. I personally fit skirting all around the room, and finish the floor just like a normal room. this all help with air sealing etc, little insects etc its then just a easy scribe of decorative end panel, changing the kitchen in 15 or 20 years later, the skirtings are in place and so are the tiles for example..
  23. No comment on quantity of holes, but I wouldn’t use anything that didn’t have a clutch, it’s an accident waiting to happen
