The slab reinforcement makes a great earth conductor, you used to have to seek the structural engineers approval but think that’s dropped from the 18th. The problem is the connection needs to be accessible for inspection, in the past, we used rebar shaped to go outwith the foundation and then bring the rebar into an earth connection chamber.. brazing used to be an option but again accessible is the requirement for future testing. look at the furse website for more info

You spend all the money on fancy sockets and switches and use fast fix boxes😩 I dislike them with flat plate accessories and the fact you rely on a little bit of plasterboard holding them In. metal boxes on dwangs/noggins for me.

You can add sand to the top soil to improve drainage….

TonyT replied to blankton's topic in Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP)
Can’t you dig the soil away from the wall? if not can’t you dig a French drain and install perforated pipe to get the water away from the house? And reinstall the soil? -
If you can ditch the combi go for the system boiler. immersion back up in case the gas goes off, what’s not to like.

Helping out on one now, not a terrace but Victorian property none the less, taking the roof off adding another floor, putting roof back on. New steel frame back to ground level is taking the weight of the new level. -
I think I was using IN4007 when my sae envelopes from cricklewood electronics arrived after a long wait, those were the days waiting to see if the postman had delivered when I came back from school…

Battery management system would be my choice rather than a diode

You paid for the drawing and it would be reasonable that you would use it to obtain any information relating to your build. I wouldn’t worry about this, plenty to worry about later when you are building😀

Don’t block the air bricks, they are required to keep your existing timber floor in good condition. ducts can be installed to extend the airflow to the new out walls in the extension

Is a surge protected CU worth it when living in the sticks.
TonyT replied to Gone West's topic in Consumer Units, RCDs, MCBOs
Power cut isn’t a surge, so your call, if fitting a new consumer unit I would install it definitely, that unit only fits a Hager board so you have to watch if you have space in the existing that it’s not type tested for other manufacturers equipment -
Undercut doors help ventilation if that’s desired….

Can’t comment on hardboard, but did this with 6mm ply. it was cut with a utility knife and nailed with ring shank nails.
