Who's told you that tacho is necessary if ltd company?! tacho is necessary regardless of trading status but it's based on vehicles and weights. Obviously sometimes you could potentially be towing some weight pushing you above 3.5t gtw. I'd check whether this means you need tacho. Not it sure how it stacks up going forward but as far as I'm aware all private light goods are £230 a year. Think the 4x4 pickups fall into this band?

There's loads of firms round here charging an hourly rate for man and machine. The prices are so tight I don't think you will make it pay just on your founds. There are definitely scenarios in which it is beneficial to buy but you take their hourly rate, subtract your normal working rate, the cost of a machine plus allow longer for your inexperience and you'll be worse off most of the time.

Usually has to project 100mm min past edge of wall. Dare say people do build right on the edge sometimes. Perhaps you can tie into existing which will compensate?

Okay looking at a job where due to limited space max wall thickness is 325mm. Also electric will be only fuel source so ideally want low u value. Job is to be brick clad so 222.5mm available to make up wall. Obviously slips onto some form of board would be better in a u value sense but let's keep it with brick face for now. Single storey if it makes a difference with regards to timber frame thickness.

When the chippy has thrown the stud up on a first fix and the wall is 4 mm out of plumb, you'll be loving that extra width tolerance the linings have. Besides it's the decorator who has to caulk it not the guy who fits the lining! I usually plane a bit off mine to be fair, but I dare say the manufacturers know this but would rather make one product which fits all, rather than 2 separate products. After all 3 cuts with a plane and you're done

To clarify you usually allow max 6mm to achieve par or pse. They both mean the same thing. Can be difficult getting a pair of stiles to plane up for a door and sometimes you need to oversize your timber to compensate 1"- 19mm 2"- 44mM 3" 69mm Etc etc

Just put a roof on with some Simpson hangers and didn't like them at all. Very baggy fit which I'm sure will be bad when plaster boarding. Whatever make Donaldson timber supply seem a better fit.
