  1. it's 30kw until the flow temperature reaches setpoint.
  2. ASHPs tend not to have an orifice tube or thermo expansion valve, instead they use a servomotor driven expansion valve. So between variable speed drives and this, the actual load and efficiencies are very configurable.
  3. One point that you didn't note is that ASHPs like to run at a much smaller in-out delta so it's not quite as simple as running at 100% to get to setpoint. They're (internally) continually juggling flow/temp/ gas pressures and temps to try and maximise the production. Just because (say) the HP can deliver 55c water doesn't mean it's aiming to do that when turned on from cold...
  4. gas barrier would be outside wall to outside wall, continuous.
  5. I think tho that it's only HETAS in their ar*e-covering wisdom that "require" Dibt tested. It's no surprise that only the very dearest Euro stoves have it. I got a really snotty response from the local big stove place and they flat out refused to even quote me for a non Dibt unit for purchase at my own risk... Don't need the turnover evidently.
  6. two birds, one stone, perhaps? https://www.firepowerheating.co.uk/thermalux-sheets?adwordspermission=1
  7. Dibt tested stoves are the gold standard. They've self closing doors, the doors are tested to seal after thousands of openings etc. Remember that you do NOT have to use a HETAS installer, your BCO can sign it off. It's not difficult to balance the MVHR to bring the house to positive pressure. Elsewhere in Europe room pressure monitoring is used to guarantee this/ alarm in case of issues as far as I recall from my research a while back.
  8. and copper cylinders are half full of sand.
  9. the humidity threshold for the internal sensor should be adjustable in the menu.
  10. I had a "play" with the cooling mode on our unit a couple of days ago. A couple of button presses enabled it, and it happily chilled down to a flow temp of 12c shedding loads of heat outside.
  11. that's another one of those UK sites that's only GB then?
  12. minidigger with stone rake?
  13. think they're all electronic? Pressing it latches a relay in most likely.
  14. just to put this to bed for now, rang the surveyor earlier and he confirmed that the letter is only a fishing expedition. They're only interested in surveying completed properties and so has flagged us for a recall in 6 months or so.
  15. what did you do before matting @nod
  16. But is there not a difference in that in GB council tax is collected by the council itself, whereas here the LPS is divorced here and could unwittingly do "something" without any council input?
  17. Just received a letter from the LPS today stating they would be having a surveyor out on Wednesday to measure and photograph the house for valuation purposes. As the house is incomplete and uninhabitable, do I cancel or put off the visit? Does the visit trigger anything in rates terms or is it purely for their records? Or is it an even better idea to let them survey it now unfinished, and with no garage yet built?...
  18. Boris certainly seems to be cutting NI adrift bit by bit, so I can't see him having any care for Scotland or Wales either.
  19. got a cheapy flat round LED panel from B&Q on clearance with bluetooth speaker. £15, sounds great, colour temp matches the other lights in the bathroom.
  20. we build with check reveals over here, so "from the inside" is SOP for the DG fitters.
  21. that's a standard item round these parts http://www.carryduffbuildingsupplies.com/products/details/category/Precast-Products-30/Pillar-Caps-76 https://www.samuelkirk.co.uk/pillar-cap-22in-550mm-7794-p.asp
  22. no local precasts the right size?
