  1. Have you had the lead replaced now?
  2. Don't think there's an option in NI, no.
  3. can't say for GB but the Rates valuation in NI goes by floor area *including outbuildings*. I'm paying dearly for a shed...
  4. Definitely take some time to peruse supplier websites. Heck, get them to do a design for you that you can then reverse-engineer to understand the process...
  5. Looking at the way that flexiduct is strained, I wonder if it's worth re-doing that properly while you're in there?
  6. Yep, quite a few larger people carriers and SUVs have a fuel powered auxiliary heater as standard. They're run on a tiny dribble of fuel and the later ones even have the water pump packaged inside. All in a unit smaller than a shoebox /image shamelessly copied
  7. ^that's a Webasto / Eberspacher clone, and they've very good. A friend got one of the boxed ones w/ fuel tank, timer etc all built in and it's an impressive piece of kit. I've one of the 5kW water heating ones in the garage (out of an old Ford Galaxy IIRC) that's never been put into use. Some day...
  8. if there's a door on one side, what's on the other?
  9. could the printer be on a time switch too?
  10. As much as everyone says it won't work, this^ is how I've set up our system on an ASHP. 270l TS, with PV diverter *and* tappings for a boiler stove which isn't installed yet. At "normal" ASHP DHW temps there's enough in the tank to provide a 10min shower without the heatpump cutting in, but if SWMBO has an extended shower the ASHP will happily start, hold and start to restore the temperature during the aft end of said shower, and be fully recovered after a <30min burn. In electric costs it's working out less than half the cost of the previous 9kW shower in the other house...
  11. thick clear poly is what was used on our TF kit
  12. The inline IZI is just 40mm in and out.
  13. on the app actually, but you can see the contact state in IO Mask too. Next time it's energised I'll see if the current is monitored in the Carel service screen, too
  14. So I finally have an instance of the heater coming on. Displayed external temp was <9C and the crank heater was noted to come on for a short time during startup and as the unit ramped to capacity. The chassis (anti-ice) heater was called for a while too *after* startup I can't be sure whether these events occurred purely at the 9C threshold or if coil or evap temp was relevant too so will continue to monitor. Certainly the unit didn't appear to be sitting with the crank heater on for hours on this occasion...
  15. certainly you can, just don't point it at shiny things. A bit of duct tape or such stuck on as a target is all that is required.
  16. what were you pointing the IR gun at? the shiny manifold would give false readings
  17. what height is the waste pipe at within this 200mm void? We fitted a Zypho IZI and the unit is only about 90mm tall, plus it's adjustable feet.
  18. it's not difficult to set the MVHR up to hold the house at slightly positive pressure which will deal with any possible leaks around the stove.
  19. I fitted a Zypho unit under our most frequently-used shower back whenever they were a sensible price, although they're still not bad where I got ours... https://www.greentherm.ie/product/zyphoizi-shower-waste-water-heat-recovery-unit/
  20. Used the rabbitgoo stuff on our ensuite which I oopsied with and didn't order as privacy. Got a pretty good pattern match to the glass elsewhere too.
  21. @Conor was doing something similar IIRC?
  22. have you easy digging to the depth required or will you hit bedrock? If that's a consideration look at one of the shallower units. We're very pleased with out Solido Smart as it went in easily and is very quiet.
  23. will anyone be looking at the back wall tho? / what's the orientation on the site?
