cylinder/pipe stat? Between the cooldown time of the pipe and demister, and the hysteresis of the stat, there should be plenty of overrun.

Inverters are SO much nicer to weld with than transformers. Watch the warranty carefully- smaller/ cheaper ones only have one PCB that does everything and a chargeable replacement generally costs more than a new welder. This onle looks like a good choice tho. Treat youself to the scratch TIG kit and some Hobbyweld gas if a lot of stainless is on the to-do list

The plenum being referred to here is a two- or three- pipe manifold acting as a header for the terminal. Plenum generally implies a change in dimension or velocity too, in my experience. And that's exactly what these terminal *headers* do- taking a number of pipes and transforming the flow from them in speed, and direction, whilst changing size. A restricted terminal installed on one then offers resistance which brings damping/silencing into it also...

What about using a duct cooler like was mentioned in the Larder thread to take some heat out of the supply? Worthwhile?

Motor valves then Nick surely. I'd be wanting to divorce the Boiler (heat source) from the rad circuit to try and maximise stratification. Although, I'm thinking of my own scenario which will be a bit belt and braces (ASHP and boiler stove plus immersun on PV) and I want to keep the top of the tank hot for the DHW , tapping off lower down for UFH as oversized rads.

I'm looking at a Copper Industries Maxipod (a near clone of the McDonald)and you'd definitely need the third pump as the TS is controlled indepenent of the heating circuits.

The fridge idea has merit for sure but if you don't need the heat/ can't put the heat where you want it then you're using a fair bit of energy for no good reason. Personally, I'm thinking a cold floor (solid, rising through the floor insulation and isolated from the rest of the screed) and maybe a cold water pipe looped through the space would be plenty cooling. Bringing outside air in under the slab and out at high level will help too Anybody have thoughts on how to implement such a designed-in thermal bridge in terms of condensate/ vapour control? Our current house (70s brick bungalow) has a stud built larder right at the SE corner of the kitchen. Even with an insulated cavity it manages to be a touch cooler than room temp in the summer and often sub 15c in the winter...

Dunno if that chiller wold be OK for potable water but could you run the rising main through it?

It's a 1.5 storey bog-standard white rendered jobbie in the vernacular stylee. 4 beds up with only one as ensuite and we're still working on the exact detail of the GF Trying to fit into the environment and not rocking the boat too much compared to the existing FPP. Not sure on the square footage yet, we're still doing a bit of stretching and shuffling to get all we want where we want it. Sonewhere a bit north of 2500 I guess.

Bonjour from sunny Newtownards. Another first-timer here, trying to pull off that miraculous money-saving build. We're at contract on a site currently near Carrowdore, and are working with Shaun Baxter from Irish House Plans on a design. There's FPP on the site retained on footings, but we'll be reapplying to get our "own" home. I've had discussions with Kilbroney re. a TF build and it sounds like they'll be good to offer whatever level of support I require. We'll see if any of the other TF providers want to play too. We've someone trusted for the groundworks I intend to do all the interior except for the spread. My background is in industrial and lab equipment repair and so I'm comfortable doing the electrical, plumbing and heating (with a little help from my friends, lol) as well as the insulation, airtightness MVHR and boarding. I hope I can offer something to the collective as much as take. David

has anyone any experience of the Stelrad Vita Eco- specifically how it derates if on an ASHP at say 45-50c flow?

Interesting, and thanks for the welcome all. We're currently at contract on the land so I'll post something about the project once those formalities complete. Still plenty to research, plan, and decide! My background is in industrial and lab systems so I like the configurability of the Solido controller. It's a concrete-free install too. I take on board tho the comments about blower location- might have a chat with the rep about moving the "technology box" or even just the compressor into the garage as that's where the controller will be

First post... been researching for our project here in NI and am pretty set on the Rewatec Solido Smart. Local distributor seems amenable to deal with, offering delivery and commissioning (and addon pump kit at reasonable cost if required) so I wondered if any of you chaps have any experiece of it or similar SBR units? The numbers certainly look good, plenty good enough for discharge into our field drain per the NIEA.
