Stagger them - looks better than a set of runway lights

that isn’t designed as a flush pipe and will leak - no idea how you’re connecting it to a cistern ..??

VCL or equivalent above the insulation so the deck would work fine. What is closing off the walkway below .?? Cement boards ..??

Spot on !!! 30 litres / min at 3 bar is a very healthy flow - we had one currently that is coming direct off an Anglian Water 8” main and the static pressure is just over 8 bar and dynamic is around 7 - customers plumber ignored the design (PRV at the main stop valve to 4.5 bar) and just went with the control group on a tank 10m away. A failed joint in the run - thankfully before board out - and they had a 7 bar fountain in the new lounge ..! Amazing how much water that is and how difficult it is to explain that controls are put into designs for a reason..

Welcome ! How hands on are you with the extension..? We always like pictures here too..!

why ..?? 30 litres / min at 3 bar is a lot of water !! OP doesn’t say they have a flow issue ..??

What building regs apply to a wooden garage,?
PeterW replied to joe90's topic in Garages & Workshops
@joe90 move it ..? And is it just over 30sqm ..? If so, why not make it just under so no regs apply..? You can always add a lean-to at some point and cut through… -
What problem are you trying to fix ..?? 3-4 bar of pressure is ample

Where is the kWh price heading in 2022?
PeterW replied to epsilonGreedy's topic in General Self Build & DIY Discussion
Not on wholesale gas trading - that is set by the global commodity markets. Spot price and gas futures trading .. basically they buy a certain amount of gas in the future at a price per therm which they then use to set the generation price on the electricity futures market to the wholesale market. In some instances they have purchased gas where the cost is lower and therefore the “profit” is the difference between price paid and price offered - it’s basically spread betting on a monster scale ! -
To Tank or not to Tank? bathroom advice required
PeterW replied to TryC's topic in Building Materials
I replaced a bath last week where the last installer had basically used 2 brackets and 2 screws to hold the bath in place and just a bead of sealant on the edge - took minutes to remove..! Customer said it always felt unsteady when they used it !! New install was batten with centre reinforcing screwed and bonded to the wall, then Fixall rapid in a full thick bead on the edge and then brackets in place too. Final seal was a sacrificial quality silicone bead. If there is a shower over the bath and it’s tiles not wall panels then will use the Mapei tanking kit from floor to ceiling too. -
Where is the kWh price heading in 2022?
PeterW replied to epsilonGreedy's topic in General Self Build & DIY Discussion
Eh..?? From the article.. “..But its UK consumer energy supplier lost more than £200m in the year…” The big 6 are making money off their generation businesses as the wholesale price benefits them. -
Octopus energy launch 'their own' Heat pump
PeterW replied to Post and beam's topic in Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP)
I do hope not as a lot of engineers aren’t set up to support CO2 based heat pumps as they need different pressure setups and are not easy to work on -
Do you need actually need a flow meter on a manifold?
PeterW replied to Ralph's topic in Other Heating Systems
I would use auto balancing actuators on that set up and be done with it -
Bought a reolink camera (battery and solar)
PeterW replied to CalvinHobbes's topic in General Self Build & DIY Discussion
I’ve found the Reolink ones better than the Hikvision ones and are 50% of the price -
Is this possible under PD? Extending an extension...
PeterW replied to aaronl95's topic in House Extensions & Conservatories
Assuming not in an AoNB, Conservation area or similar, and no PD rights removed then yes using the neighbour consultation scheme.- 1 reply

Site Visitors: tolerate, welcome, avoid?
PeterW replied to ToughButterCup's topic in Planning Permission
Most have been moved off those where possible as in England & Wales (slightly different in Scotland) older AH Tenancies have rights of succession where the newer post 1994 (I think) Farm Business Tenancies do not so at death they are forefeited. -

Not strictly true ..! Whilst the estates (including Crown Estates) own a lot, they own the agricultural land for the rental income and in a lot of instances for the subsidy payments. It’s a long game though and anyone buying farmland on hope value for it being in the local plan is better off buying it and turning it to pony paddocks as they are a licence to print money..! -

that’s not true - local parish councils are now a proving ground for a lot of SPADs and county councillors who are looking to progress into mainstream politics. They have moved on a long way from Maureen and Dennis who want to complain about the state of the bus shelter … -

Rainwater Header Tank in Warm Loft Space

A floating hot tub chlorine dispenser would help you - just set it at the lowest dose possible -
Only if it’s Tracpipe and not MDPE.. it’s the D2 elbows / 15mm / uphill stuff that worries me ..!

Yellow MDPE cannot be used internally unless it has adequate protection from fire and impact - any GSR fitter would know this. Looking at the photo though it may be tracpipe as there looks to be a brass fitting on it - if so it is ok but still a poor way to do it. Those steels need sorting and I think they have used one to support the entire side of the house - that is Yeehahh cowboy territory if it’s just resting on plain bricks - also a massive cold bridge too as it looks to be on the outer face. There is a Pressure and Temperature valve on the tank - if that lets go then you get a lot of high pressure hot water to deal with and it’s currently all piped into one small pipe …

Please tell me that’s not a yellow MDPE gas pipe running behind the UFH manifold..??! Your cold pipe needs to be insulated but tbh it needs routing properly first. I’m assuming what you’re talking about is the connection from the black pipe to the white supply - if that is the main connection then it should have an isolator on it to start with at the join. None of that D2 vent pipe work meets regs either - it must never go uphill, it’s too small and if the tank went it looks like it’s going to end up in the boiler …. Did the plumber get his qualifications on eBay..??? @Nickfromwales sharpen your pencil …

Ufh manifold, blending valve with ASHP.
PeterW replied to Russell griffiths's topic in Underfloor Heating
Not quite sure why the LLH is where it is if you’ve not got blending valves as it’s there to provide a balancing point - as it stands you are using the manifolds as isolation points by the looks of it ..? Not quite sure why you have a pair of pumps off the LLH - could easily get away with a 28mm circulation loop and single pump between all manifolds from LLH and returning back to LLH with each manifold pulling from it. Not sure who specced or designed the UFH though as you run the risk of pulling cooler water into each floor manifold as the closest / least resistive loops may scavenge the hotter water first with no blending valves. Could be a candidate for auto balancing actuators but how many loops do you have..??
