  1. If you’ve not already bought it or fitted it then don’t bother - I took one back as it was rubbish. Replaced it with this and a pair of standard 1/2” to 15mm Tectite push fits for less than £20.
  2. If you want a piling rig then the JCB has an auger that may work but won’t go deep. You could go with ring beam and then beam and block but use Jetfloor EPS inserts for the insulation. The easiest if you can’t dig - and sounds like you can’t - has to be a passive raft as it should need the minimum amount of spoil removed.
  3. Two screws and the head comes off. Set the ASHP to come on and rotate the spindle to check you get warm water both sides..... then realign the spindle the way you want and put the head back on ! on your other point about temperature, ASHPs work by incremental heat rise so they will basically take the water temp up by 3-5 degrees per cycle.
  4. You may find the JCB 516 would fit down that lane and if it does it will be a godsend. They are the agri-spec telehandlers but can be fitted with a variety of front attachments including a bucket, forks and a short crane jib. They also have a 4m reach so would be able to sling (with care) 6m timbers from the forks in bundles.
  5. It may be worth whipping the head off and seeing if the spindle rotates 360 degrees. If it does, you can turn the head and the spindle 180 degrees and then it will operate correctly. I’ve had this before as I bought a Danfoss mid position that did what you say and it was only when I checked the ports and the head I found it was back to front. The head wasn’t fitted and it looks like someone had reversed the spindle and put it back in the box .... as a matter of course I now blow through them to check ..!!!!
  6. May also be worth using rapid set so you don’t have to wait as long for it to go off and hold the pipes down.
  7. Work fine - take a bit of time to fit as they need fettling to work perfectly before you fit the outer panel work or plasterboard.
  8. You will need to find one that is acceptable to insurers as a lot don’t meet the minimum standard for an external final door lock.
  9. It will be as it will move and cause problems. The main concern would be the roof join as any roof movement downward will show. Can you isolate the new part from the old or is it a composite roof extension...?

    EWI DIY

Plenty on this but it’s pretty much you can bridge it regardless of what you use as none of them will promote damp
  11. There’s not mushroom for many more comments before this gets locked .....
  12. I did this albeit with traditional slab. The PIR under the floor is edged by a 25mm expansion/edge insulation upstand however the inner core of the cavity is filled with 125mm EPS and this goes below the level of the slab to the top of the trenchfill. I did model this and it has an impact on heat loss but not as much as you would think.
  13. You need to use the P/A ratio which is the perimeter and area I expect the worksheet does that behind the scenes.
  14. That doesn’t make sense to me ..??? CLT, Steel and posi joists are all going to be the same length no matter what you do - it’s only the depth and weight that will differ. What access do you have to the site as muck out and concrete in are your two biggest issues and if you can get a wagon in for muckaway, you can get some big bits of timber in ..!
  15. +1 to that ..!!! I would use something quick and cheap to build the shell, insulate it and clad it then hit it with internal detail. Could even get away with using something like a 140mm single skin block with lots of EWI and then parge coat the lot inside as your airtightness layer.
  16. Price it up yourself on Pears Stairs @Christine Walker Easy to do and doesn’t need to be too accurate to give you a ballpark.
  17. It is an air switch - uses water pressure to close the valve and is very neat. Fitted one in an attic space and ran the pipe down the wall, and also have one fitted for my mother.
  18. That is not correct. Unlawful removal is an offence however... If a tree is dying, diseased or dangerous you can remove or work on it to prevent either further damage to the tree or property. Whilst this should be done with notice, it is not required in many circumstances.
  19. No TPO and no Conservation Area = remove at will.... Even if there is a methods statement for the site, you can still take any tree out as long as the above conditions are true. And the arborist is correct as the planning permission allows work on a tree with TPO - that is the permission you need to gain for any TPO tree work.
  20. Welcome ignore the CIL..! If you are building for your own use, and you follow the process to the letter, then self builders are exempt from paying. Just be careful though that you don’t time out the original permission whilst waiting to get permission for the new build.
  21. I had similar but stated it had been all taken to a Veolia waste transfer station about a half mile from where it was “dumped”..... they soon backed off !
  22. Fedex tracking keeps a whole list of where your parcel has been if you know the tracking number. Start here
  23. @Christine Walker is this the conversion set you need ..? worth buying elsewhere and walk away..?
  24. Do you know if these will take a 4mm wire @JSHarris..?? Thinking about one for ASHP and potentially an immersion too
  25. Looks like an older sill profile as they are multi chamber these days - most of the gap between gets silicone in it (or should) so the bridge should be quite small
