How to deal with a noisy sewerage treatment plant
PeterW replied to joe90's topic in General Self Build & DIY Discussion
Be careful with the silent ones as they need maintenance too - it’s just a slightly more smelly sort of maintenance. Looking at the Tricel it seems to have the air pump mounted in the tank top - that is part of the issue with these units and moving the air pump to a separate unit with a hard and heavy base may help. -
Concrete tile fitting...ball park figure
PeterW replied to Google's topic in Roofing, Tiling & Slating
Square roof or lots of cuts and valleys..? Dry verge and ridge ..?? 4000 tiles or so I’d expect they will want £1.5k or thereabouts for a simple roof assuming you’re not in the south east ! -
There is no minimum for the cill but lower than 800 they have to be toughened or laminated glass. The restriction is on the opening size overall.

Not a hope. You will end up with issues and asphalt has joins in that have to be perfect. Go with either replacement EDPM or GRP.
-
@lizzie you only need one adapter as the other end is already 40mm

I quite like it....

I’m fascinated by this sort of stuff @Ed Davies but I don’t get the logging bit as that would normally indicate someone was doing something with the data ..? In your instance you are, but what does Mr Joe Average make of this bit of random kit in his new developer home..??

Building over a long period - Thoughts?

I’d get the mortgage, draw down £5000 and then stick it into an account and leave it there. There are plenty of people here - @JSHarris @recoveringacademic amongst others that have taken mortgages that have failed to materialise when they needed them as the lender has gone back on the deal prior to draw down. Use your own money when the banks is spent, they will happily accept your interest payments once you’ve taken their money ..! -
Probably still on holiday ... chase it mid November and you’ll have it before Christmas ... This stuff has no government service level so they can in reality take as long as they want ... probably not what you want to hear !!

A what..??! Does this have some bizarre purpose and who checks the logs ..? -
STROMA certification.

Wish a few of the ones I’ve had work for me recently had bothered to do a bit of reading rather than rely on doing in “the way they have always done it...” There are dinosaurs in every industry and I’d rather someone look something up than rely on memory ..! -
Looks like 40mm solvent weld so you need a HepV0 CV1 and a HepV0 CV3 running adaptor
-
Is the condensate trap drying out too as that will contribute to the smell. I would put the waterless trap in the straight section after both the MVHR and the boiler join in that case.

A bit odd bearing in mind they sell it as a fully waterproof ... The use of specifically designed admixtures provides Readymix Permatite with structurally integral waterproofing, enabling concrete to be poured and compacted with ease... Would indicate it’s waterproof to me ..!!

It will be fine. Tile over it and forget it.

No.1.... none of the things you mention are renewable gadgets..!!! They are the core to getting your heating and DHW right..!! You need to work from basic principles - for example what is the expected heat loss from the building, then you can work out what you need for heat provision through the ASHP. Secondly, how many bathrooms / baths / showers are you planning as that will determine the number of sunamp units you will need. With you saying you have a large amount of PV and are planning 3 phase, it sounds like you are planning to grid tie the lot..?? It’s not necessary and only really if you want the FIT as you could run an isolated thermal store as a buffer and then use it to dump from a section of your PV panels. There are also grid restricted inverters that limit your export below the threshold needed for a larger supply. I think @Nickfromwales has fitted one of these I think somewhere ....
-
I read the manual .....
-
@Nickfromwales you need to catch up... Wierd design but the trap is threaded to the bottom of the unit and then you would need to cut both pipes and just put the other waterless trap in the gap as a connector.
-
Nothing .... there is 100mm of PIR over the top but nothing more Ground is sand around here - very dusty in the bottom of the pit and no real sign of damp. Temperature has stayed a static 9-10c which is ideal for wine ..!

My Fischer one lasted 14 months and had some serious abuse. Was probably one of the better ones but only £14 from Amazon I think Edited to add it was from eBay

Done this with the old garage pit and it basically cost a sheet of OSB and some reinforcing. Think the total size is 2600x900x1400 and I expect the door will cost about £60 and the steps will be from scrap 8x2....

ThermaTaper comes in standard thickness, standard sizes. So ThermaTaper is available in 1:60 and 1:80. You want the 1:60 stuff so that is 30/50 over 1.2m, or a 20mm rise. So under the whole deck, you put a full flat deck of 80mm, and add your first tapered board so you have 110-130 over the width. Now you lay another layer of 20mm across the next 1.2mm, stack the sloping one on top and you have 130-150 which now butts up to the first layer... you could just keep building with 20mm, or could be clever and buy a selection of 20/40/80 and build up from there.

Sorry I don’t get why your architect has no issue with using a compressible material between two layers of fixed concrete, but is not happy to use something rigid ..???! I am starting to think he’s designed something that can’t be built and he’s backing away from something of his own creation.
-
So you reduce the thickness of the slab insulation and make that stepped using standard thicknesses built up - 30mm would do it I think in layers..??
