  1. I used these to fix rockwool slabs externally with long corrosion resistant plasterboard screws until vertical battens were fixed on top of insultion. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PLASTIC-WASHERS-FOR-INSULATION-BOARDS-56mm-Celotex-Marmox-Kingspan/152443658826?hash=item237e59a24a:g:3A4AAOSwSlBY3Qf.
  2. I used this company for my self build very helpful and competetive price!
  3. Have you tried this company I have had good service with them! !https://www.solidor.co.uk/
  4. With your large house over 3 floors I wuld be looking at 2 units and use smaler dia and shorter duct runs, less noise and kw to run! Units could be run at different speeds depending on conditions and you might find one could be turned right down or off in summer months when windows are opened! Planning duct runs over 3 floors would be the tricky part of the project in my opinion..
  5. Yes I would frame on site and look for around 0.15 u value! Have looked at wood fibre previously but local rendered examples did not look so good when a few years old. Went with rockwool as you can order by the pallet and just order right amount of packets to complete, off cuts can be put in internal walls. No extra transport costs or exchange rate hikes.
  6. In 2011 I built a 2.5 storey timber frame house with render board on lower sections and wood cladding on upper levels, Final uvalue 0.17 and air test of 0.9 Sound reduction is very good. Wall make up from outside was. 12.5mm render board with parex top coat. 25mm cavity. Housewrap taped at joints. 50mm Rockwool Duorock 11mm OSB nailed and glued 145x45 studs filled with rockwool flexi Reflective airguard stapled and taped 25mm service cavity. 12.5mm Board skim finish I had to do alteration to boiler flue at weekend and inside of wall looks good! I have another self build to start in near future and would like to improve/ Simplify? the wall build up so looking for ideas and thoughts for improvements?
  7. I added 50mm celotex to top and multifoil wrap insulation to 255 UVC and insulated all pipes and pressure releif valve! Now minimal heat loss over 24hrs!
  8. From my experience keep it simple use a float switch in both tanks to controls all levels. 3000litres minium in ground tank and 200l in roof. Use a floating intake to draw cleanest water, very easy to make using flexible suction pipe, a plastic ball float and stainless filter. Filter on outlets of roof tank that can easily be changed. Mains water back up to roof tank with ball valve and manual lever valve. Only find back up occasionly needed in dry summer.
  9. HI Amuia. Sounds like the control printed circuit board is the problem as this controls speed of fan motors!
  10. https://www.heatspaceandlight.com/difference-between-branch-radial-duct-which-better/ My thoughts the above compares radial with a steel branch system which is a lot harder to self install! If solid plastic duct and fittings used DIY components considerably cheaper than radial. It all depends on how complex the duct layout and access!
  11. I also built 6x2 at 600c with nogin and used 11mm osb3 nailed and glued on exterior, rockwool 140 flexi slots straight in tight and then tyvek airguard and 25mm service cavity nternal.

  15. I did a small job wood fibre cut to fit between studs not the easiest product to cut exact tight fit and quite a bit of dust! Would recommend Rockwool Flexi friction fit and easy to cut if necessary.
