  1. I used howdens burford traditional in last house I really liked it and did have a thin edge. Your plastering has to be good else would look naff. Only 15mm thick though.
  2. I think this modern satin paint is the culprit. Old gloss was good not much stuck to it. I went round the other week and redid the top edges of the skirts it kitchen diner and hall. I have a weekly cleaner who wipes these edges and muck still became ingrained
  3. Grohe - minta
  4. You just pick whatever tap complies for bregs then fit whatever you like. That's what I do anyway. Just put a grohe mints in today and was very Dissapointed. Flow rate is terrible as the tap is on tiny flexi s to fit all 4 pipes within the tap body. I can't fault wayfair customer services. Full refund without having to return tap. I have had poor customer service from Victoria plum lately.
  5. Quickstep do a vinyl skirting to match their flooring but isn't cheap. They even do it for the floating floors. Couldn't you do a tiled upstand to match floor? Still have architrave problem though
  6. 10mm mason mitre best for this job
  7. That gypsum stuff is good but not sure it's right if you want solid feeling whenever I've worked ontop of it always seems to have a tiny bounce/vibration. I think you want to go as thick as possible if solid feeling is your key criteria so maybe traditional screed best bet?
  8. You can cut each board to the length of the one below it, hold it in position then holding another bit of timber underneath the roofing mark a line. If you make this bit of timber the right size it will give you the right size cut for your board to sit in the right spot
  9. Coming along. Did you have to compact the backfill or dies it not matter if ring beam connect to piles?
  10. It was done on my last build. Wall hasn't separated at the bottom yet. I had to slit the cavity batts 225 vertically so the insulation overlaps ffl by 225
  11. I've never heard of a rule where you can't have both in same joint. The brickies will normally roll the doc out first then put the ties on top. As much as they are supposed to butter the doc felt down it rarely happens so the tie's wouldn't be doing much if below the felt
  12. Yes. You can pick different size profiles when you order your doors depending on product. Just get one which is big enough for the 3", your floor covering and a slight protrusion
  13. Did this on last one and was much nicer not having to step over the upvc cill then down
  14. If you have a decent depth of cill and a proper rebated frane section on the bottom you can actually sit the door 1 course below ffl. Finishes about an inch above your ffl giving a much nicer transition to outside
  15. I think not caulking the top edge would be pretty common if can't be seen from above. Is this gap really going to be any more likely a path for sound transmission than the gap at bottom of door?
  16. I've always gone with GIA - no wonder @nod built his so cheap his walls are 4m wide! haha
  17. No it will have to be an open trench. Could range from being reasonable to very expensive depending on road, traffic, depth of sewer etc etc. I would imagine to 330 is an application fee and you would have to pay more for inspections and approval of finished work. Usually water boards will want you to use an approved contractor but check that out. Find out the depth off the water board and start getting some quotes.
  18. Are the blocks thicker than the bricks? Why does there look to be a 25mm step in one photo? If the cavity continues as per the photo with that step it will be a bit better as wider cavity
  19. Who needs a land drain when you have unsealed ic inspection chambers!? Tongue in cheek
  20. Logistically also how do you think this works on a normal job? Plasterer is trusted to drill holes? Electrician comes back between 1st and 2nd fix yet before skimming? Don't the holes get filled with skim?! Loads neater to just do a good plan and cut out on 2nd fix
  21. Sorry just seen mvhr not the other bits. Still seems strong though but not my area expertise
