So that's the screed drying out nicely now. After the first week of instructed "no heat" I ran the Willis on a 15min every hour cycle for a fortnight. Then on a whim and cost be damned, I put it on continuous for a couple of days. Result is that I'm pleased to see that the heat calculations are confirmed and the house's heat requirements are indeed low. 3kW heater on continuous for 52hrs total, mean ambient temp of about 3c over the duration, raised the slab return temp from 11 to 17c and still rising- and brought room temp from 10c to 15c

Rebuilding them generally isn't hard as long as the bearings haven't partially seized and chewed up the shaft or housing, but if you don't have the tools or skill-set then I'd go with @PeterW's view.

it's a Papst external-rotor fan. Generally there's a removeable cap in the middle of the mounting bit, and a circlip under that holds the fan and shaft in place. the fan and rotor will then pull off and expose the coils and bearings. /similar motors are used in scientific kit like incubators, that I work on daily.

Accreditation and proof of competency are separate things tho. Download the blank EIC and have a look at it https://electrical.theiet.org/bs-7671/model-forms/ You'll need all the right test gear and also be happy to sign-off the relevant sections.

AFAICT you don't need to prove competency by providing training or membership certs, but you will have to be able to offer a completed EIC. I don't think the BCOs have a facility for inspect and test?

I've an upstairs loop in ours, and tee'd an auto vent into both flow and return where it rises up and heads into the FF screed. Works perfectly, just need to remember that it'll drain down if the system is depressurised elsewhere.

I'd just go 150 insulation and 50mm pumped screed for the same build height. Conveniently matches a block...

One other observation on my system- what kind of trap do you have on the drain? If airflow is imbalanced (too much extract) the extract fan is powerful enough to pull water UP the drain pipe from where it'll flood the H/E drain area and even flow over the bottom of the fan when it'll splash water into the extract outlet duct. Suggest checking the drain pipework is well sealed and the trap functional...

might pull the covers off and check that the H/E is fitted centrally. If it's moved in transit it could be leaning on one or other of the covers, distorting it away from the foam seal. / mine's normally absolutely dry, but currently- extracting a tonne of water from the screed- there's a weep from the bottom of the front panel...
