  1. TRVs could be jammed. Take them off and see if the pistons on the valve heads move.
  2. Looks like that stove may be a Euro output one - they need an adapter or similar to close the gap in the top between stove and pipe. Either way though it needs fire cement.
  3. If you spray stuff like Sika it goes a long way. You are coating it not impregnating it into the timber so it should last.
  4. Sorry they are 4-12-4-12-4
  5. This is the certificate for the windows Drop me a PM if you want some installed photos.
  6. I've just taken delivery of 3G UPVC from Modern Trade Windows and I'm impressed with the quality and build. Couple of niggles with them but that is down to me making frame sizes very tight to brickwork, not the manufacturing..! They use Profile 22 and its a 4-16-4-16-4 unit with softcoat. We nearly went for their anthracite grey however when I got a sample it appears to have a grey/blue tinge to them. This is common on a lot of the UPVC profiles so I suggest you get a sample of the profile and do not go by the catalogue..!
  7. How much insulation do you need in square metres..?? Celotex aren’t the only supplier and if you keep an eye on Seconds&co you may find a bargain.
  8. If it needs a filter then just add a Magnaflow or similar and a gauze filter. You can get cheap ones from BES and they are half an hour to fit as it’s not at any sort of pressure really.
  9. This sort of thing https://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/Henry-Commercial-1200-Watt-Hoover-/182813386417 Motors are about £28 to replace - not much else to go wrong.
  10. Yep they are one that really should be questioned ...! Ripped off Victoria Plum(b) and at one point there was a legal challenge on names but I think Victoria Plum(b) lost ... After-sales is borderline non-existent as @Lesgrandepotato has found out ...
  11. @joycey if you are looking at DIY then SIP roof is not your answer ..!! They need to be properly detailed and if it’s a sloping roof then you may find they are so heavy they need either a crane or at least a Telehandler to get into position. ICF is easily done as DIY if you take your time as @recoveringacademic says - plenty of experience on here of different systems too. May be worth posting a few plans so people can see what you’re building.
  12. Got any photos of the unit ..?? Or of the installation ..?
  13. Untreated Larch should be in at the £1.30-£1.50 a metre or £14 a cubic foot. Oak will be around £2.30 so £20 a cubic foot for 6” feather edge board. It depends on what you want to achieve - larch is limited on size to about 8” board and then goes up in price, oak can be had up to 12” with a waney edge for a similar price. Machining for T&G or shiplap will add 50% to the price normally - again, depends on the look you are looking for.
  14. @Bitpipe he's in Cumbria..... third week in August he may have a chance of that !! You may find that wrapping works but you have to get the windows sealed properly or you will have issues - usually around the bottom edges. We had water running out of the weep vents where the water got into the cavity despite sealing things up so it is a pain. When are your windows due..?
  15. Airtightness stuff if anyone needs it....
  16. Worked for me... http://www.passivehousesystems.co.uk/
  17. Welcome ! MVHR can have backup heating but its not that efficient due to the low flow rates - its ok to take a chill off an incoming airflow but will not warm it to the necessary temperature unless its creating a lot of heat input. As @JSHarris said - and a number will agree - the best approach is to use localised heating where required in bathrooms and then let this supplement what will most likely be a low heat requirement.
  18. The Visonic ones now come with PSTN as standard but can use IP telephony - bit odd as it says for use where the PSTN may have been disabled due to a burglary but most houses have PSTN enabled broadband ...... unless you’re on Virgin cable and then the box is clearly marked on the outside of the house ..!!
  19. Any chance of a link @JSHarris as I’m in the market for a new one ...
  20. I’m having the issue that we have the sink identified (triple Belfast from V&B...) and the biggest problem is getting a 900 Belfast base unit. 800 is standard, 900 seems to be a rarity...! Our kitchen is also dining and a family room - agree that they do become the hub but there needs to be other quiet places to go.
  21. We have a GET Ultimate Grid and will use matching sockets - really pleased with the quality. Do like those Matt white ones...

    Airtightness

I’d agree but that is a pig of a joint - you could put a bend in it with a pipe bender and do the offset the same way but it wouldn’t be easy ..!
  23. Have you started building ..?? Unlikely you will get a new supplier with a part build - it’s a bit of a monopoly out there ..!! A few have had good results with Sennocke - they are behind BuildZone.

    Airtightness

Shocking stuff ..!! Needs perfectly clean surfaces - and I mean perfect - and over time it still leaks ... I’d use Hep2O and not copper in this instance - any reason for wanting it in copper..?
  25. Can you not hatch the polyline and identify the gaps from that ..?
