  1. Wunda is 16mm Pert or Pex. They used to do 15mm as an option but I'm not sure they do now.
  2. Is that the Ikea short legs on the units ..? And how have you done the oak..? Got a close up pic as that's very neat..!
  3. I'd go a slightly different route on the Celotex. Get a price on 60mm and 75mm and do two layers - slightly cheaper on material normally but it's easier to handle and cut in two layers. You will need to factor in the labour but it's not a difficult job and you will find you get a better fit.
  4. Have a look at the cost benefit of 30mm over vs 50mm. You may find for the .01 it improves the uValue of the walls it has such an extended payback period it will neither offset the cost of the extra material or the longer fixings required over 25 years. You're better looking at the air tightness and controlling the heat loss there as it's a larger impact.
  5. So it's a bit of a moot point here ... the requirement is that you have cabling as below : .3 The requirement is to provide only the in-building physical infrastructure, from the service provider’s access point to the occupier’s network termination point. Multi-dwelling buildings must be equipped with a common access point capable of serving all the dwellings within the building. 1.4 It is not a requirement to provide any network cabling or equipment, or any in-building infrastructure that extends internally beyond the network termination point. Nor is it a requirement to provide any external or site-wide infrastructure beyond the access point. The developer and broadband service provider should agree who will install such external infrastructure. Basically a 6" length of Cat5 to a socket would suffice ....
  6. What's more impressive is that a lot of this kit is 40 years old and still works ...!!! Most new mobile phones have more processing power than one of those probes, yet have the lifespan of a moth...
  7. Cos I have OCD and I've got a perfect layout for my house CU that is all RCBO...!!
  8. Did they come through good for you @recoveringacademic..??
  9. Worth considering running a PoE switch too - you can then run single cables to locations for cameras, APs and other stuff without having to use a power cable too
  10. Thanks @JSHarris I was pondering how the contactor loop was configured ..!
  11. And this is supposed to help me ..???
  12. Council tree officer is smoking pot..... BNB is irrelevant - your foundation trench will have severed any subsurface laterals so you could put anything you want down after that first trench and it wouldn't matter however it does vary by soil type. I've just built within 1200mm of a 14m sycamore and we didn't find a single root when digging out the footings .... RPZ is calculated in BS5387 and it's easy to do. This guide from the Lakeland Council is very clear and concise and talks about a tree constraint plan as a first stage. It's better than going full blown tree survey and helps you with RPZ. http://www.lakedistrict.gov.uk/__data/assets/pdf_file/0020/256061/Trees.pdf They will most likely insist on a fence to protect it - find some cheap heras fencing and some scaffold poles and it's half a days work.
  13. Right so a small metal one with MCBs on the circuits is fine as there is a 32A rcbo in the main box ..? Come to think of it I've got a spare metal box that's our temporary supply ... just needs me to sort the MCBs. And I'm still considering @JSHarris idea of the contactor and emergency stop button ...
  14. Quick one for the sparks... Looking to run a second sub main CU in the integral garage on the house. Main CU is a double decker metal unit with all RCBOs. Garage will be fed from a 32A dedicated circuit. Question is .... as it's integral to the house, does the submain need to be metal or can it be a standard insulated plastic one...??
  15. Yep no requirement to have building regs in place to start demolition. I think you have to file paperwork with the HSE though..??
  16. Get a 12" long piece of 32mm waste pipe, a camera, stopwatch and piece of purple fabric. Ask Debbie to hold the camera and the stopwatch. Cut a hole in the fabric and place it over your head with the hole over your cheek. Place your mouth firmly over the pipe and then put the pipe on the wall test patch. On Debbie's count, deep breath and blow hard into the tube. At 10 seconds, Debbie should take a photo of the colour of your cheek against the cloth.... Post the photos on here and we can provide the expert view of which is best based upon the colour differences.......
  17. These are the ones I use - always found ESI to be good at tech support ESI Single Channel They now do a 16 amp version too - going to use that as immersion control.
  18. You could always buy the reset tool from Screwfix and then return it "as it didn't work with your controller......"
  19. Tascon ProClima tape Intellio membrane
  20. Sand and cement will cover the pores. Seal around your joists with expanding foam then tape over that. Put your ceiling noggins in around the edge and tape that joint to the wall - when you put your ceiling and wall boards on then nothing is getting into that gap ....
  21. Sand and cement will do it, smeared on with a hessian sack.
  22. I use Sika Universal as it covers a multitude of different products in one - easy to spray on too with a cheap garden sprayer.
  23. I don't think that approach will work as the builder cannot reclaim the VAT and not pass it on to you as it's not a D&B contract, it's a JCT contract and they are different. I think you will just end up swallowing the VAT but I would be asking the PM to discount the final invoices as it's their cock up ...
  24. It becomes irrelevant as the contract is between you and the PM to manage the builder and the JCT. If you include the PM in scope of the JCT then you have little control over the PM as @jack says. And you say this has been going on for 12 months - has the PM only just invoiced you ..? If they had to unpick 12 months of invoices it would be problematic on their side for VAT.
