I remember talking to locals in Corfu 30+ years ago about the number of part built all concrete places and the sheer number of concrete pumps in use. Seems a young couple would get a piece of land and work during the tourist season to get the cash to say pour the slab. After next season they'd do up to first floor and so on finishing with a flat roof.

I jokingly said "Pity you can't do the roof!" to one of the ICF traders at Build It. Seem to remember he said a doddle if a flat or very shallow slope and for more traditional pitches there are precast systems. Wonder what they do at the joints...?

SWMBO decreed that "we" would "ruin" oak veneered doors. So off to Wickes for the cheapest of the cheap. Bloody cheek, £32 for a 610mm door.... £22 for a 762mm one! Still need to tweak the frame on the sapele door. No reason not to make a nice job on the hinges. Might tile this bit tomorrow! That'll just leave around the bath to do.

PTFE strip here between galv steel and aluminium. Nylon washers. Sometimes with PTFE tape around the bolt or nylon top hat washers.

Don't forget you can get different duties/weights of Unistrut for a given overall size.

Can't be ar$ed to take it further. Let's face it the people behind the counter are just there for the job not because they're au fait with trades like in the days of the old hardware stores, specialist plumbing shops etc. Same goes with their customer relations people.

I used corrugated bitumen sheets from Wickes. Biggest waste of time and money EVER! I'd even put in extra roof joists to halve the span. It all just sagged like washing up bowls between the joists. I tried inserting extra ali tubes to help but it was just crap. Ruined the car stored in there. Stable where I am now has an asbestos roof that leaks. I guess over many years it just breaks down? I'd go EPDM as it's quick and easy. Fibreglass maybe if you fancy the challenge. Lets face it they are what they are these old garages and draughty isn't a bad thing as it can keep things dry.

My email: "Dear Screwfix, I needed today urgently a new bar shower valve and a friend pointed me to the one below. Checking stock at Sevenoaks I saw you had one in and ordered it for collection. At the counter the assistant went and got my order. I noticed the box was open and queried this to be told it was probably just where somebody had asked for a look at it in store. As I was checking the box there were other customers so I made a cursory check that the parts were all there, (one small fittings pack was opened and the parts loose), signed for it and left the store. Upon arrival at home and unpacking it it POURED water out, in fact inside the bubble wrap was soaking wet. Clearly this unit has been previously fitted and then returned to store. Aside from that the last customer was clearly a bit of an animal and there are tool marks on the chromed nuts. I am really not impressed. Aside from the damage you should not be returning water filled components to stock. Who knows what bugs it might harbour or how long it's been in there! However...without a working shower I've been forced to fit this as I have two teenagers in the house and two of their friends to stay. If I go for oak veneered then they seem to be coming out at about 27kg weight wise. Are two 76 x 51 hinges enough or should I be going for 3? Slightly off track and a relative has just been visiting family in the ROI. Sad lad that he is he commented that even on the cheaper, mass produced housing stock, their doors seem to be nearer 50mm thick rather than the 34mm like the oak veneer ones he and I are looking at in TP/Selco etc.

Don't forget that when you and your mate aren't there it'd stil be nice to catch nosey neighbours, vandals, council snoopers and thieving pikeys.

Checking the spec in @newhome 's link and you can set it to take a still from every1s to 24hrs. In ASAP mode 270,000 frames in 2.2 days. On the 30 minute mode 3,700 frames in 78 says. A good few on here have used them mounted on a vantage point.
