  1. Oooh! It will be filled on arrival, otherwise empty tank but vermin (well big furry vermin) proof as it's inside an OSB box. Tank drained at the end of a weekend then filled with lovely clean loch Katrine water. @Nickfromwales what's a F&G or whatever, it was formerly a loft tank and made of plastic...stored under a hut for a few years after being liberated from a semi. It's got lots of spider webs and stuff inside??
  2. Like the look and thinking behind this...well done old fruit
  3. Two years on from starting the hut I'm fitting a gravity water system...I have a wash hand basin in the toilet and sink in kitchen both of which have taps. I connected the waste pipe ages ago which drains to the soak away but never go around to providing the taps with the one thing that kinda makes them useful! To be honest the hut isn't in any way uncomfortable to live in. We have a standpipe less than 30m away and just fill up 5l water bottles for drinking and washing. However, I've got some free time and good rioja so why not go and play around up at the hut? I'm putting this tank on some posts made up from small tree trunks, against an outside gable wall. This is case of bursts caused by freezing if I (or a less thoughtful wife or teenager) forget to drain the system between visits in winter. First made a box for the second hand tank someone gave me. The hole at the top is for a garden hose which I'll fill from the standpipe...will know when it's full when the overflow indicates ? Bottom pipe will feed both taps. I'm teeing off just under the taps and connecting to both hot and cold. Whalah we should soon have some slow running water for washing...not much need for that but most handy when brushing teeth. Don't like the toothbrush in a cup thing and not having a tap to wash away the spit.?? I'll post a little photo diary as I progress
  4. I'm enjoying this thread...nothing wrong with an alternative view @jamiehamy and a bit of debate. To me ICF was a gang of hooligan so called football fans who liked a rumble at away games...no good for hut building so I'm out?
  5. Nicely written...can feel your pain though, good luck with the rest!
  6. Score a goal? I know. I know but the football is on just now...come on England we need you to win.
  7. Some stuff here about public toilets, which is not necessarily the same thing but... http://www.designcouncil.org.uk/bs-6465-12006-amendment-12009-sanitary-installations-code-practice-design-sanitary-facilities-and A blog by someone who campaigns for more public toilets...stuff in there about LA plans for the same but in England. Might apply under another guise in Scotland. https://gailknight.wordpress.com/2010/11/09/planning/
  8. Definitely going to come under BC due to waste water regs. Most likely planning too so some professional advice needed. What is the LA saying? Are they happy, if it's Skye then I'd guess they want to ensure parking and services are compliant...
  9. Carpet for a bedroom or you will soon cover it in rugs? Or they will?
  10. But surely that's good...trained eye drinks it all in, measures up the odd topic to look at. Result...he's not signing an MOT thankfully
  11. There's a fella in your garage with binoculars!
  12. I always ignore that bit...
  13. Two months old and slight black scratches/marks are appearing...hard to see in a photograph but I thought I could detect a pattern maybe indicating a stress fracture emminating from where it's bolted to the wall. Fitted it myself so was sure I didn't over tighten it and had the nylon bush property seated...visual check confirmed all was well underneath. Anyway, I worked it out. Faffing around drying the basin with toilet paper to get a clear picture I realised that I'd just added an identical type of scratch in a new place! It was my new Titanium wedding ring that's the culprit...maybe it's not Titanium and I was ripped off online again. Anyone ever heard of such a thing????
  14. I'm hoping you have the December party in the house but seeing as it's in the dead zone for bistro/restaurant business, why not put some feelers out for an alternative venue? Good luck, the house looks fantastic, especially that roof
  15. Welcome back @caliwag it's been a while...nice to see you commenting again ?
  16. opaque walls as ventilated facade What's that mean? And how come you chose your car registration as your username thingy???
  17. Love the colour of yer windows!
  18. That's a very big *shed* What's it for?
  19. Thanks @Oz07 Worked it out. Removed this screw...small amount of splinter from where this breaking through the door was interfering with the mechanism. At this 2 o'clock position it's next to the catch on the cam behind. Did the same on the other sticky one and now both are as smooth as a squid in Vaseline after a few Martinis ?
  20. Been fitting new doors and a couple of the handles are sticky...the action isn't smooth and seems like a catch or obstruction at about half way down when you depress to open the door. The sticky ones also don't pop back up like they should. I've checked everything and suspect they are shit handles...client bought from B&Q
  21. I say look at it closely I've had a few and first thought K but after another glass I'm going for F
  22. Welcome from me too...how's the property situation in your part of Italy? Will you get loads of Euros for your gaff and will the exchange rate cost you or benefit? Btw we like photos?
  23. Replacing skirting in a 1960s house...when the old came off, so did the plaster...in deep chunks at some places. Should I mix up some browning plaster and make good, probably need a couple of coats in some areas or is foam too much of a bodge? I.e. would a muli tool finish the foam neatly enough and would the new skirting stick to it with adhesive? I'm favouring option one...?
  24. Here's a pic of board on board from my hut. You will have to counter batten to allow air movement behind the cladding. This pic is of sarking board left untreated (can be as cheap as £6 per metre) and now two years old.
  25. Nick will be along but I'd bet 2 or 3mm max for tile spacing ?
