  1. soapy water is the old angler's trick to bring them up
  2. Spuds, to break up the fresh soil
  3. why would they fall over? Plenty of internal walls are unsupported single block...
  4. There are basic digital stats too, but if you're thinking about zoning then it's a no-brainer to go programmable...
  5. Ask yourself who Neff are, while you're at it...
  6. yep, could be so simple.
  7. Bear in mind that defrost and anti-frost are completely different things, not to be confused.
  8. In a split system, there's only refrigerant gas in the outdoor unit and the pipes to-fro. If the *indoor* unit is going into anti-frost it must be because it thinks somewhere *inside* the house is dangerously cold. In the proposed replacement system, antifreeze is circulated between the indoor and outdoor units. However because no-one can guarantee the right concentration of glycol has actually been filled, the Outdoor unit will occasionally pump between the indoor and outdoor units to take the chill off the fluid just-in-case.
  9. I wonder if all this noise in anti-frost mode is because a motorvalve is closed (as there's no heat demand)?
  10. I don't undertand why appliances have to "match". You want the best tool for the job each time. We've a Panasonic flatbed combi, and it's superb. Sees way more action than the oven in the cooker...
  11. ...and under, as well. most fridges are pretty open underneath and a nice reflective tiled floor will cause issues for sure.
  12. The Liebherr probably needs a new fan, if it's sitting up on top of the unit...
  13. the answer is yes. Ish... I don't know if any domestic refrgeration has anything other than a piston compressor, and they're all "hermetic", that's the metal can it's sitting in...
  14. I went with a Samsung F/F a few months back with an inverter. While it's certainly not silent, it makes a different selection of noises to an old-fashioned refrigeration unit. There are no sudden clunk/hums as the compressor starts, but as the compressor is variable-speed the hum ramps up and down markedly. Anecdotally, the more modern refrigerants seem to make more noise as they make their way around the innards of the appliance, and frost-free means you're going to have one or more fans whirring away inside...
  15. Likewise, but for no qualifiable reason.
  16. Our trays are 1400x900. I went with a 900 screen with a hinged flipper, and a 600 as an end panel. I'm pleased to say that the chicane/ overlap between the flipper and the end panel stops just about everything.
  17. Suggest you get a trained electrician to have a look- wierd readings on the ohms range can often mean there's a voltage where there shouldn't be.
  18. anyways... VOIP. Experience, recommends, WHY?
  19. I think the number format is slightly different over here?
  20. It's not the same exchange tho, Millisle is an annexe of Ards IIRC. Certainly trying to instigate a housemove on Talktalk (just tried it there) says the number can't move/ out of range. Ards town is all 81 or 82xxxx whereas Millisle is 86xxxx. .just re-checked, and the area code is Bangor (North Down) with local number ranges within that. See: https://telephone-exchange.co.uk/group-list.php?group=Bangor (Northern Ireland) I see Millisle is on Openreach's stop-sell list for August '22
  21. So we're getting a bit closer to making a move. As the copper line is *so* long to the area that ADSL or FTTC are pointless, I've gone down the 4g route for now. The locality is the Rural Broadband Voucher scheme but the length of the lane is probably a dealbreaker there I fear. Even if I did take a copper connection I don't believe I could transfer the current number onto it. We're currently on Newtownards exchange, the new place would be Millisle. They're both 02891 but different number ranges. I do want to keep the number regardless, I've had it for 30years and been trading from it for 20... How would one find out easily whether the number actually *could* move? Try and set up a house move and then cancel? But there's no line yet... But I think I'm more likely to just pull the number across to a VOIP service. There's a shedload of choice out there and I know nothing- is it all just re-selling? Any recommendations please? Only looking a single line, with low useage. Will be bringing the current DECT suite with us so don't need "free" phones, happy to purchase an interface. Gracias.
  22. what qualifies "poor quality" with UPVC?
  23. the fitting with the captive nut might unscrew. Look for a hex on the inside or flats on the outside.
  24. You don't need F-gas for a precharged A2A tho do you?
