Just to close this off, I ended up going with VOIPify, and acquired a Cisco SPA232D Dect-capable ATA. They're happy to port the BT number over when the time is right and I've got a "nice" local number on the accout for now that I might just hang on to as well when we move, for the extra quid a month... All working happily now, after a bit of a faff getting the right ports opened on the router. It's quite odd. All the speedtests I do come out pretty poor (provider is Three), in the 1.5 to 4Mb/s region down, up slightly faster. But a recent stress test proved surprising- Full screen HD video on the laptop, another video on the phone, and big son gaming on his laptop while chatting on his phone; no glitches and Andy reckoned his connection was more responsive than he normally sees on the FTTC at home. I'll not complain tho...

Help me to understand GSHP performance

ASHPs modulate just like a gas boiler. -
carpet/fabric spray glue?

Selecting DHW cylinder for ASHP + solar thermal
dpmiller replied to muhrix's topic in Introduce Yourself
I'm doing this except with a coil to segregate, as the thermal store also has input from a boiler stove. Stove is on the open vented side (store contents) and all flow from the ASHP passes through the lower coil of the tank en-route to the UFH and rad circuits.- 25 replies

As well as Telford, have a chat with the guys at World Heat cylinders, they've no problem doing bespoke and already supply some of the ASHP companies.- 25 replies

A bypass valve is my strategy, but it's a wee bit noisy at the flow rates the ASHP wants to see.

What's the thread size and tube diameter @Nickfromwales ? Should be able to hunt it down
-
At 40c you'll need all the heat you can I'd guess, but yes the buffer will slowly drop until the ASHP comes back on.
-
IIRC the iVT will throttle it's power back if the delta exceeds 10c. I can't recall- are you directly connected or is there a buffer tank involved?

spray with an extension nozzle? Bit like a schutz gun for rustproofing

yes. How is air removed from the upstairs loops? Is there an auto or manual bleeder up there?

Donegal and the West Coast as far as I know -
what size do you need?

Air probes generally need a bit of damping to slow their response to draughts and sunlight and such. Putting it in a wall housing should suffice, but there are other tricks used like sticking the probe into a hole in a pingpong ball...

you might need to go into the settings to see what the HW hysteresis is- what the cut-in *and* cut-out temperatures are. also does the tank have one immersion, or two?

Airtight membrane / Vapour Control Layer

It's good stuff- it's heavy, really doesn't want to tear, and folds and tucks well. -
Mobile Phone Reception issue?
dpmiller replied to ashthekid's topic in Networks, AV, Security & Automation
in Network Cell Info, look at the "Gauge" screen, the top speedo is the signal strength, IMT is the Band, and Fc is the actual frequency. -
Mobile Phone Reception issue?
dpmiller replied to ashthekid's topic in Networks, AV, Security & Automation
first thing to do is to comfirm which Band you local celltower is on- your phone's diagnostics might show this, or download an app like Networ Cell Info or the like. -
Is laitance removal worth it on UFH screed?
dpmiller replied to ashthekid's topic in Underfloor Heating
yep, the type of liquid screed matters tho? -
Is laitance removal worth it on UFH screed?
dpmiller replied to ashthekid's topic in Underfloor Heating
what type of screed? -
Yep, on our Cool Energy unit the main pump is under PWM control based on in-out Delta as far as I can see. Min, max, and startup speed are all configurable though.

Not all ASHPs have a pressure switch...
-
what's the flow-return Delta at the ASHP? Is the pump controlled from the ASHP or just off it's own algorithm?
