  1. No, just means I've left them in the house when I've sold it. Except that is the last move when I left the dishwasher but brought the washing machine as it was only eight years old.
  2. I've only bought Miele washing machines and dishwashers for the last twenty years or so and am going to buy a Miele tumble dryer when the utility room is finished. So far never had a fault.
  3. To line the walls of my shed I bought nine sheets of OSB3 which when delivered were Sterling Board. I ran out and ordered three extra sheets of OSB3 to do the gable end and when they were delivered they were Egger Board. I've never used Egger OSB3 before and and was not impressed. They were softer, made from much smaller wood chips and didn't stay flat. I will be checking with the BM next time that they really are Sterling Board, but as Wendy said "it's only a shed". Has anyone else used Egger OSB3 made in Germany.
  4. We used Cuprinol Garden Shades on a small garden bench back in 2015 and it's still looking good. We then painted a small garden shed with the same in 2019 and that is also good. Quite expensive though. We also used Creoseal on a fence and that protected well for several years until we moved house. You can still buy Creosote for professional use. https://www.creosotesales.co.uk/product-category/creosote-substitute/
  5. Yes indeed, but it does include all standard building works, BCO, etc. https://www.stiltz.co.uk/how-much-do-uk-domestic-lifts-cost/
  6. Stiltz Lifts quote, from £16300, God knows what the maximum price is.
  7. I used plastic wood between the bottom of the shed and the concrete slab. It's a metal shed though and I thought it might be easier to seal to the concrete than the metal. https://www.kedel.co.uk/recycled-plastic-wood/recycled-plastic-wood-synthetic-wood-100-x-20mm.html
  8. No danger of cold air being blown out then, sounds good 😀
  9. For those with A2A HPs, are they any better or worse than air to water ASHPs for the length and frequency of defrost cycles. When defrosting do they shut down the internal units completely.
  10. Certainly not. I agree with you about burning wood, in fact burning anything probably isn't much good for the atmosphere. We all have to exist and make decisions about how our choices affect the planet. I was pointing out that there are other unnecessary things we might do that affect the environment.
  11. But unfortunately not yet and until smoking tobacco stops the tobacco industry does a lot of harm to the environment. https://ash.org.uk/resources/view/tobacco-and-the-environment The environmental footprint of a smoker The environmental impact of being a smoker was also quantified at an individual level, highlighting the sizeable individual contribution of a single smoker, whereby even one cigarette is associated with an environmental burden.4 5 The authors calculated the environmental impact of one person smoking a pack of 20 cigarettes every day for 50 years, these were quantified as:4 5 6 A total carbon footprint of 5.1t CO2 equivalent emissions, which to offset, would require 132 tree seedlings planted and grown for 10 years.13 A water footprint of 1,355 m3, which is equivalent to almost 62 years’ water supply for any three people’s basic needs.14 Total fossil fuel depletion of 1.3 tonne oil equivalent, which is comparable to the electricity use of an average household in India for almost 15 years.15 Tobacco’s efficiency and yield on resources was also highlighted, with the authors reporting that in comparison to the average consumer of sugar in one year a smoker contributes almost five times more to water depletion, nearly ten times more to fossil fuel depletion and four times more to climate change.4 5 Research predicts that by 2025 cigarette consumption may rise from current levels of six trillion to nine trillion sticks,16 this prediction has significant environmental consequences.3 5 16 This could result in required agricultural land use of 7.9 million hectares, water and fossil fuel depletion of 34 billion cubic metres and five Million tonnes oil equivalent respectively, and annual CO2 equivalent emissions reaching almost 130 Million tonnes.4 5 Summatively these findings have reinforced the ideal that smoking needs to be highlighted as a global problem affecting us all, not just smokers and those around them. Research evidence has irrefutably demonstrated the level of damage smoking is posing to the sustainability of our environment.4 5
  12. We bought our door hinges from ironmongery direct. https://www.ironmongerydirect.co.uk/browse/hinges-seals-and-intumescent/hinges/door-hinges/filter/ironmongery_finishgroup>{brass}%2F%2F%24s%3Dhinges
  13. Our plant room was next to the wetroom so the floor was tiled without any upstands anywhere so if there was a leak it would find it's way into the wetroom shower drain.
  14. 300mA, 50V DC LED drivers on Ebay are £4 to £5 from China so you won't be saving yourself much.
  15. I sympathise as it took us eight years and I was glad when it was finished. It is a nice feeling though once you move in and can enjoy it.
  16. If it was a single house situated towards the rear of the site it doesn't look too bad.
  17. @Jimmyjazz Welcome to the forum and good luck with your search. This site is at Whitstone around seven miles or so from Bude. https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/129285185#/?channel=COM_BUY
  18. You're definitely in the right bit. Once you're down past Bodmin it's all tourists and pollution.
  19. That's right, we lived there for just over three years. If you've got a well performing house and they're sized correctly, they work well.
  20. We used solid wood door linings and MDF architrave and skirtings.
  21. I used Nu-Lok in 2011 and the two English suppliers I used no longer seem to stock it. It looks like you have to go to NI to get it now.
  22. We had to have a couple of the glazing units replaced as we could see marks between the panes of the triple glazing. One of them was 3m high. Apparently there are rules about the size and how easy it is the see the marks from a certain distance. Can't remember the rules exactly.
  23. Yeah, she was my favourite for a while as well, but that was a long time ago. Memories, just memories. 😍
