Your issue could be that there is a lead DPC within the chimney but a new liner will breach that - normally a liner is suspended from the top of the pot using a cowl but if that isn't in place then you may find rain coming down the outside of the liner and there is a point where it touches the old chimney and the water is seeping in there.

Nothing stops water entering the flue itself but there should be a lead apron near the point at which the masonry comes through the roofline - may only look like an inch or so of lead turned down on the stack. If that's not there, water may be getting between the pot and the stack flaunching and running down.

Picked up a Franke 1 1/2 bowl in B&Q when they were having a clear out and it seems pretty robust. Better than the Blanco one next to it which seemed very flimsy.

The power of the fans in MVHR is negligible - if you feed it into the back of the heat pump you will have a real problem balancing the air flow as as the MVHR will create significant negative pressure. There isn't enough heat in the air coming out to be of any real benefit. If you read JSH blog there is lots in there about balancing the systems.

Most MVHR sensors are humidity based and from experience the extract from a condenser dryer is a little more humid than the outside air but not much. I can't see why it would upset the system ..?

Buildzone came in at just shy of £2k inc BCO for me, that is part conversion (20%) and mostly new build for a 165sqm room in roof property. Found that using Buildzone for BC was cheaper as it subsidises the surveying for the warranty !

£20k will be about right as that needs a road close plus rework of all of the road surfaces etc. Depths seem odd - that is a long way down ..! No.14 will most likely come straight along into the main run - it won't be a branch main so would need upgrading to 160mm which may be some of the cost.

I'd expect like most govt or other "standards" to allow for comparison a baseline is used. The Council Tax bandings are a good example where the price refers to the "value in year xx" and in SAP I expect they baselined energy cost at some point so there is a reference value. That means the EPC is now of course worth slightly less than the paper it's printed on ....

How long have you been waiting for them to sign off the conditions ..?? They only have 8 weeks and after that it's non-determination and you can ask for fees back etc and force their hand. I thought you were quite close to that - worth waiting for ..?? And the heritage officer can go take a walk, comments are non-enforceable unless they are specifically worded as conditions ...!

Sometimes the simplest solutions are staring you in the face ..! I've got a 25mm mdpe pipe to my plot that comes from the neighbours and they didn't even know about it ..! Oddly when I put a Cat and Genny on it I found it goes the most convoluted way possible to a fence 10 feet away ..!

Not sure the manifold will be hot enough - towel rail needs to be 48-55c or so to be effective, you'll end up at around 35c blended off the manifold.

So this is where the process is broken !!! Someone on here did their own design - and I've done a lot of tweaks to ours too - so I doubt there is any SE or architect that would be involved on either of those builds. My SE has purely done steel calcs - the rest of the "structural" design is standard elements as per the Building Regulations or robust details etc and will be signed off by the BCO. So how do the HSE want to work with that one..?? The other query I have is how HSE are going to track these builds with the "estimate vs reality" calculations on labour. For example, according to the QS estimate for my build I have an estimated 22 week duration with 2213.45 hours (!!!!!) effort involved. Based on a 6.5hr working day, that equates to 340 man days effort, or an average of a little over 3 people per day on site. None of those figures will trigger the HSE F10 at the start of the project and its within a good margin before it could (at 500md / 20+ for 30 days) So in completing the paperwork, as it doesn't need filing then no-one is checking to see if there is a PD and the PC is me with subs. In the end we will get a building that is built to someone elses initial design, with SE calcs for bits, and a BCO signing off that it meets stat regs..! Oh, and a warranty by another company just for good measure..!
