  1. I use TinkerCad as it does everything 3D and exports to standard output files. Think it also imports AutoCad

So you’ll get an old crap result .... drilling a hole will see them pour out into the room ... good for You’ve been Framed, not so good for thermal insulation ...
  3. Depends how you mean respected and by whom..?? In most medium to large architectural practises you will find a number of ATs doing the core drawing and draughting for major contracts and they are overseen by a senior architect or partner. They do a very good job and are highly skilled at what they do. Due to RIBA kicking off and making architecture a monopoly for them under the AoP, they command a premium in a lot of instances and usually cite insurance costs, qualifications, etc as the reason. ATs have less of these overheads and therefore can charge less. Its horses for courses really - I’ve seen stunning designs from ATs for £2,000 and utter dross from architects who have charged 10 times that. You pays your money etc etc
  4. We have used a cement board with skim and it will be fine up to the temps you are talking.
  5. With 15% profit in that (assuming inc VAT) then at a blended £200 per day rate (which is high tbh) then there is 128 man days of effort With 4 weeks that's 6 on site, with 6 weeks its 4 on site - Permanently ! If this is a 3 bed terrace then that seems a little "lumpy" as I would expect no more than £2k for the rewire, £2.5k for the reskim and then the remaining stuff feels very over priced. £4k for an internal emulsion and gloss followed by the outside (2 walls or 3..?) is well over priced. Have you considered taking all the plaster off the walls and ceilings down everywhere..? Its a 1 week rip out, leaves it clean for sparks and plumbers to run everything and then get the spreads back in to button it all up. Quicker cheaper and cleaner than what you are looking at tbh.
  6. From that I guess you’ve not been in a TF factory or manufacturer ...?? Construction of mainstream TF isn’t glamourous - it’s not all HufHaus and soya lattes ... Depending on what you are building then both have their merits although if 3 blokes turned up on my site in a tatty transit the first question would be where’s your CICS cards and PPE.... which means they have been on training thankfully which should hopefully save their lives ... I suppose it all depends on what you want as an end result ..?
  7. With that fan running you won’t be able to leave the seat ..!!
  8. It’s a bit much tbh and you may “feel it” and definitely hear it as that looks like a server fan ..!
  9. Yep our big Bosch has them and that is a good 8-9 years old
  10. I’d love to see what he’s paying his lads ..! And he’s missing bits in his estimates such as a toilet for the main bathroom that he’s fitting but not buying ..??
  11. Timber wedges from the top down if possibly and a good squirt of D4 glue on both sides for good measure.
  12. Yep he just wears his pants (or yours when you’re out) over his trousers and his coat like a cape .... His real superpower is making things disappear .... like bacon sandwiches, tunnocks tea cakes, beer.....
  13. Errr that’s a planning change ..!! Can’t just move a footprint as that could be a very expensive mistake ...!
  14. T5 RectorSeal...
  15. Well that just became very expensive ..!! If no gas work to do - ie in the same place as existing or above the gas meter then there isn’t that much to do other than core for the flue and connect pipe and controls. @Nickfromwales thoughts ..?
  16. Go get an incinerator bin - that will control the size of the fire and makes it easier to control
  17. Make sure you pack the bottom chord tight to the wall plate otherwise it will bounce and flex.
  18. Get a decent lock for it as they are the most desirable and most nicked item of big plant... and go on a training course ..! They are a beast unless you know what you are doing .....
  19. I admire your courage at building your own house but I would seriously look at ready mixed mortar as otherwise you will have to gauge everything in each mix or it won’t match. There are places to make savings - the visible shell isn’t one of them !
  20. Buy a petrol mixer instead and use the genny for light stuff as having one running 8 hours a day is horrific ... it will make you want to bury it in concrete.
  21. Ring an architectural salvage place and get them to come and take it out ..!!! That’s probably worth £4-500 as a minimum, in bits it’s worth nothing ... let the experts do it.
  22. It should have been pruned by now but you can still give it a haircut - take the branches back in 2 stages. Undercut at about a foot or so from the trunk to stop the bark tearing back then cut off a further 6-8” out. When the main limb has dropped then cut the stub back to 1/2” or so with a neat flush cut at the trunk. No CAD measurements are required for this activity - just a nice sharp bow saw blade....
  23. 4” reclaims with 150mm blown bead cavity and then 100mm medium density block. Inner also has 25-75mm of Kingspan on it in 3 rooms downstairs too. Boards are foamed on or screwed to flush battens, then a decent skim. Feels very warm and very solid ..!
  24. I’m assuming they laid a standard non woven control fabric and then put 1-2” of gravel over it ..? That is deep enough for a weed to germinate and the non woven stuff doesn’t block 100% of light so it’s possible for weeds to grow through it too. Best stuff is the heavy woven stuff and then 3-4” of gravel. If you’ve got persistent weeds then glyphosate is your friend .....
  25. Knightsbridge is also available from TLC and a bit cheaper too https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/FP9902BCG.html
