  1. That's right but I only currently use about 12kWh in the day and have a overnight usage of about 5kWh. I am exporting circa 40+ kWh with no fit and no SEG as the system has yet to receive MCS sign off as I am awaiting a battery and hot water divert. I got the installers to get it up a running last November as the cost of electricity was rising but the system needs finishing off. I am turning the immersion heater on manually, it's a 4.5kW element so I only turn it on when I am at max generation otherwise I would be paying for the shortfall from the grid. That said though a have a 500l tank full of water at 55C today
  2. Here's my production profile for today 21 June. 10.02kW array over 3 orientations. God I wish I could get hold of that bloody Solar edge battery and DHW divert. You can see the clipping as my inverter is 6Kw but the benefit of the dc coupled battery is that the excess energy can do direct to the battery uninverted. Interested to see what other have produced today.
  3. I’m still awaiting my SE energybank battery been on back order for almost a year after switching from choice of 10kWh LG chem resu. I have a 10kW array with the 6kW hd wave inverter with intergral EV charger. I’m holding tight. I understand that the clipped production above the 6kW that occurs is not all lost as it can go uninverted to the dc coupled battery I even contacted SE themselves who said they have had issues with production of the battery in Hungary but are trying to resolve as a matter of urgency When it arrives I’ll post my findings
  4. We use a dc inverter motor dehumidifier to dry clothes. Runs on about 220w and can extract 25l a day in ideal conditions. Very efficient, when coupled with a pulley ceiling clothes maiden, it’s almost as good as the tumble drier but without the preferred fluffiness.
  5. Back order maybe May My PV chap has 16 on back order, thankfully we are near the top of his list, Originally specified the LG chem 10 kW storedge but when fully integrated SE was mooted, we decided to wait. Even the LG chem system is the proverbial hens teeth. In roof PV array fitted Jan 21 but commissioned in Nov 21 due to awaiting roof and price hike in power necessitated.
  6. I have a 10kW array with SolarEdge 6kW inverter with EV charger built in when I get an EV, just need to buy the appropriate cable. I have started to clip this month but only for 15 mins My array is roughly 2kW east, 4kW south and 4kW west I am awaiting the Solar edge energy bank dc coupled battery which can take the surplus non inverted dc to charge the battery. So, in essence being oversized allows me greater production in the winter months and still use surplus generation after load, DHW divert to charge the battery. That said, my hierarchy during spring summer autumn will be load, battery and then DHW divert. I have not considered the EV aspect yet but it allows 7.2kW to car max but clearly this would be inverted power with grid supplementing. Just impatiently waiting for SE battery and hot water divert (also SE upto 5kW) to come available
  7. Irrespective of whether greenfield or brownfield. In the green belt development must be “not inappropriate” and fall into one of the exceptions in para 149 and 150 of the NPPF. Unless of course it can be established that very special circumstances apply. There is no legal definition of “very special circumstances” but plenty of case law.
  8. I have GSE in roof and 30 panels fitted. None of the plastic tray is exposed, it being covered by the panel and aluminium trims and flashings. As an alternative there’s the following https://en.irfts.com/easy-roof-evolution/
  9. Try the planning officer first they may give you a steer and deal with it under delegated authority. They would be mindful of the extant approval and look at any additional relevant issues which you can address in turn. In the meantime your existing permission rests and can be implemented
  10. Buildings insurance normally includes fixtures and fittings and it is most usual for an insured peril to be storm. Unless there is a a specific exclusion for solar panels in the policy wording. If no specific exclusion and you have difficulty, i would remind your insurers of the principle of contra proferentem which in grey areas suggests the benefit of the doubt rests with the insured.
  11. SolarEdge offer 3.68kW inverter that can be 55% oversized in terms of the array. That is approx 5.7 kWp Excess generation, not being used for the load is not inverted and can be directed to their dc coupled energy bank battery, so far 10kWh if you can get hold of one. You can divert ac to DHW if you prefer.
  12. Thanks for your input. Me too, this was my initial thoughts but the UVC (500l) arrived unbeknowns with only one pocket for an immersion. Rather than return it with resultant delays, I decided to press on with the knowledge that the diverter could accommodate a 5kW immersion. Little did I know the difficulting in sourcing same with the correct thread. I've been in touch with solar edge technical who say the diverter can accept a minimum of 5% of the load rating, so hopefully all should be fine.
  13. I have a 10kWp array up and working and am awaiting battery and DHW divert to be fitted all to be SolarEdge. The DHW divert can take up to 5kW resistive load and hence after much searching I found a single phase 4.5 kW immersion and it is fitted. It’s only 10ft from the consumer unit and has a direct 4mm feed. The literature with the immersion suggests a relay to be fitted. My query is what size relay is appropriate and will this have any issues when the PV generation is say delivering a lower rated current say if the surplus PV power is 500w to the immersion or anywhere in the range.
  14. This was posted recently on YT on the topic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbuWR-xcq0Q
  15. I too have a Viessman 200 4 pipe system , One dedicated DHW, internal valve in boiler and seperate programmer and temp set to 55c Other 2 pipes serve UFH, towel rads on own 2 way diverter timed and 1st floor heating again own 2 way diverter and timed. Second circuit set at 48 and ufh blended down. I can have various flow temps at different times of day. Seems to work well but early days, only fitted in Nov so still tweeking and noting gas usage which the boiler also tells me for both heating and DHW
  16. Couldn’t they mount an upgraded transformer on the existing pole 600m away and then lay the subterranean 3 phase cable to your new property. This is what we did on a 175m run cost £3,400 we dug trench and SPEN laid 185mm 3 phase and provided temp site supply. The existing pole mounted transformer was adequate for feeding 3 new supplies.
  17. I use this product on my motor home roof will, it works and lasts a year. Reading reviews say it works on moss as well. Not good for water animal life
  18. They're the future I'm sold
  19. "The proposed replacement dwelling, by reason of its scale and mass, would harm the character and appearance of the area". Is this the only reason for refusal on the decision notice, if so it is purely subjective? Or is there anything else cited ? I asked because our initial application was refused for character and greenbelt reasons. Once we were confident on the greenbelt element for the refusal could be overcome that left us to deal with the landscape and character issue. It would appear no absolute planning policy has been breached but rather it doesn't suit the opinion of the planning officer. A superior authority, ie an inspector could come to a different opinion if well reasoned. A landscape visual impact assessment my help........it certainly did with our appeal, an expert could demonstrate in detail why it is acceptable in landscape and visual amenity terms.
  20. The planners are wrong. They cannot use impact on openness to refuse your application. The latest NPPF para 149 (c) allows "c) the extension or alteration of a building provided that it does not result in disproportionate additions over and above the size of the original building;" There in no mention of openness in this exception, same limited infilling in villages and for agricultural buildings. The following is taken directly from the Inspector's decision letter on my appeal In a recent court case( Lee Valley), it was found that where development is considered to be ‘not inappropriate’ applying paragraphs 89 or 90 of the Framework, it should not be regarded as harmful either to the openness of the Green Belt or to the purposes of including land in the Green Belt. In other words, the impact of a proposal on openness is implicitly taken into account in the exceptions set out in the Framework unless there is a specific requirement to consider the matter. The Council has pointed out that the above case related to agricultural rather than residential development. Nevertheless it sets out principles with regard to the issue of openness. Although the previous Inspector concluded that the development would harm openness this pre-dated the case law. Therefore, for the above reasons, there is no need for me to consider openness as a separate issue. I attach another appeal regarding extensions in the green belt which may be helpful, and here once more openness is not a factor. 3272415 -Appeal Decision.pdf
  21. You'd have thought the providers would be fighting like cats in a sack for cheap electricity. Has anyone heard of anyone attempting group approach to a provider? Why no increases?
  22. I have a vitodens 200w system boiler and curiously my plumber initially thought it was a combi. I seem to remember the boiler has a dedicated screed drying setting.
  23. An objector had the suggested the motivation for our application was pecuniary gain and we were using my wife's disability to further our cause rather building the dwelling for her particular needs. I strongly objected to the council and asked them to remove the offending and discriminatory comments which they ignored until my appeal was presented. Needless to say, I used the LPA's inaction to demonstrate their unreasonable behaviour to the planning inspector in our cost application, which no doubt help paint the picture of the journey we had with the counsel. It is referenced in our costs award decision, see attached, paras 6 and 12 PPG guidance states: Paragraph: 033 Reference ID: 16-033-20140306 “Can costs be claimed for the period during the determination of the planning application? No, but all parties are expected to behave reasonably throughout the planning process. Although costs can only be awarded in relation to unnecessary or wasted expense at the appeal or other proceeding, behaviour and actions at the time of the planning application can be taken into account in the Inspector’s consideration of whether or not costs should be awarded…” Costs Decision - 3198387[100338].pdf

  25. It looks like it's the low voltage battery rather than the 400v one. I am not sure if it can be dc coupled. I have a 10kW system, panels fitted inroof GSE, awaiting commision with an 6kW HD wave inverter with integral EV charger and 5kW divert to UVC immersion. There is a scarcity of high voltage LG resu batteries in the country and I am impatiently awaiting the SE Energybank DC coupled battery said to be available from January 22.
