  1. Before even looking at the actual LED strips and drivers, am I really looking at about £10 per metre for the plastered in profile ? Anyone found it any cheaper ? I'd prefer longer lengths, minimum 3m ... TIA
  2. what did you settle for Dave ? Did you use them ?
  3. Looking at how to control our 5 bedroom (and ensuite) radiators. Oil Boiler/ground floor UFH with 2x manifolds and heatmiser control panels. Thinking that a Heatmiser wiring centre with a loop going to each bed/bathroom, thermostat in each bedroom hard wired back to the wiring centre. That'll work right ?
  4. Yes Dan, would definitely be on a timer anyway, sorry for my naivety - tell me more about the radial system ?
  5. So has anyone read the 82 page Hep2o installer guide ? - https://wavin-digital-indianajones-prod.storage.googleapis.com/assets/category/e2adbf25-727a-4c44-82a8-9aec62d2978e/2f06b06d-06d0-4c8f-9905-99bb59b2ebf4/70ab700c-d7e5-4b82-96dd-4b5cc76cc487 I'm currently designing my new build water system and was a little surprised to read this, anyone have an opinion on this - I'm sure people use Hep2o for this all the time ? - Continuously operated re-circulating systems (Secondary Hot Water Circulation / Ring main installations) A continuously operated re-circulating system is a waterreplenished circulating system which is maintained at a constant high temperature to provide a constant source of hot water. Continuously operated re-circulating systems are used to distribute constant hot water to draw off points that may be distant from the heat source or hot water storage vessel. Continuously operated re-circulating systems are very different from conventional hot water supply and central heating systems found in domestic properties, for which our products have been tested to, under either BS 7291 2010 Class S or WRAS approval standards, and for this reason Hep2 O products must NOT be used on any continuously operated re-circulating systems as they are not approved under the current version of these standards.
  6. Apart from the increase of the grant to £7500, anybody else thinking this is the wrong time to be buying ASHP ? .... with so many new technologies allegedly around the corner ? with new working mediums such as CO2 and Helium ? even Octopus are meant to be rolling out new technology in December ? I'm off grid and have quite a large space to heat with UFH ... currently at first fix but really need to start thinking about a solution, but very tempted to hold off until Q1 or Q2 2024 ? even if it means putting something in temporarily (2nd hand oil boiler !) to get us through the winter, if we actually get to move in any time soon ! thoughts ?
  7. Posted this on avforums so apologies to anyone who's on both forums - I have a large 5 bed new build approaching first fix, I did my last project about 7 years ago but I'm sure things have moved on and I'm a little out of touch, fyi my last project I used Fibaro HC2 which has done the job but probably ready for a change. So from a cabling/list of needs - Coax to every TV (does anyone actually use coax these days !?) 2 x CAT6 to every TV and 1 x CAT6 for each PoE camera location Unifi wifi Home Assistant ? looking for integration with lights, blinds, door locks, gate, MHVR, heating, Aircon, Sonos & other AV I'm going to be having A LOT of plastered in LED strips for primary and shadow lighting CCTV was thinking Hikvision Relays and sensors Shelly ? Alexa for voice control In ceiling speakers for sonos ? Last time I used Van Damme 2.5" speaker cable, I have lots of long runs, is this overkill ? I'm listening mainly to house music rather than classical ! Tempted by Luctron, Loxone etc but put off by cost, and being tied into their products like the blinds, which I already have a supplier for. I'm a great believer in "keeping things simple" ... if that's possible with Home Automation ! ... suggestions welcome please ?
  8. Anyone know of a "stairbox type" company that can supply 1500mm wide straight staircase, to replace temporary set in photo. Will have carpet so doesn't need to be high quality wood. Thought about concrete but not really sure where to start ... just trying to avoid the six figure sum associated with a bespoke set of stairs. (2860mm floor to floor height)
  9. I needed 750m ... and ended up with 1 x 300m and 2 x 200m - total price £1100 ... Liam Jones - liamjackjones@gmail.com - 07985553680 Thoroghly nice bloke too !
  10. have you considered a resin floor ?

    LED LLMF....?

I'm also at the early stages of design, and I'm investigating the extensive use of plastered in LED strips. Apparently dotless strips with good quality drivers. I'd be interested in knowing if anyone has used these as their primary lighting source, as well as mood lighting of course ? I've attached a pic found on google and initial render from my kitchen designer. Will also be using them vertically in walls.
  12. I get 14.8 down / 3.37 up on 4G (EE) ... and 38.5 down / 13.1 up on Starlink
  13. I'm also looking at large format tiles, have 200sqm ... but was also considering resin, early stages so not costed either up. I like the clean, no grout and a subtle pattern. Do you still need expansion joints with resin ? anybody got a cost comparison ? oh and any thermal benefits of resin over porcelain tiles using UFH ?
  14. Starlink hardware on offer, £99 .... and yes £75 a month but 2x or 3x quicker than 4G
  15. Another vote for Starlink … just got it installed to replace my off grid 4G router … it’s awesome.
