  1. Erm...just cut half way through then turn it over?
  2. Some cut it say 5mm less than the gap then foam fill to ensure at least one side is super tight to the studs / joists. I'm doing that above my bathroom between the 145mm deep joists at 400mm centres. Already got 100mm in there. Adding some 40mm I scored free as a top layer that'll overlap the 100mm joints. Nominal gap is 355mm between joists so I've cut the 40mm pir at 350mm. Tbh I'll probably gun foam all the edges. You can only really g'tee a super straight, square edge if "factory" (though not always) or if cut on a table saw. Then you have to contend with warped sheets etc. Expanding foam takes up these defects. It's why Icynene is so good.
  3. Run the dpm across the floor then up the wall a bit. In my bathroom refurb I did this and also put a 1m high strip of dpm on the two external walls that sits down behind the tucked up floor dpm. (I'd had some previous damp issues where the outside path was higher than the dpc and the internal concrete floor dead level with the dpc). Wall pir should butt up tight to the floor pir to create a thermal envelope or you get cold bridging. Foam fill gaps.
  4. Pause function when the phone rings, pulse function to simmer, boost function. I'd say they're MORE controllable than gas.
  5. I know several die hard gas hob fans who've converted to induction and wouldn't go back.
  6. Edges go a bit yellow and manky if it lives outside for too long. I've just gotten round to cutting this stack of freebie sheets up on the table saw. No mask , could explain why I'm coughing up green + blood. It's either the pir fibres, when I cleaned all the cr@p off the tiles last weekend or when I de-ratted the car the other day. Mask then eh?
  7. This might help ref the fittings:
  8. I used a program called @Nickfromwales.....and AutoCAD...
  9. The lady doth protest...TART! Just get the bender out and see it as a challenge. Wiped joint porn: Get some right angled adapters: Another vote for Hudson Reed: If I can do it anyone can! ? Remember, you're a highly skilled craftsman. Plumbers go home smelling of sh!t:
  10. .....value engineer things down to the last penny! ?
  11. Depends when he's measuring it as to how "real" that figure is. You often have to be real quick. As a test I've measured elements causing nuisance tripping as NOT being down to earth when cold. Chucked them in a pint glass and topped up with hot water out of the kettle and watched the resistance to earth drop like a stone as the casing expands and damp gets in. Take it out, dry it off / let it cool down and the resistance goes back up. Let's face it a mere IR test can "dry out" a damp motor. Has the RCD itself been checked & ramp tested? It might have a tripping threshold of maybe 25mA...the standing protective conductor current might already be close, cumulative from other circuits and its not taking much to put it over and trip it. I'm sure Sunamp's technical department will help... ?
  12. So you're going for vacuum insulation everywhere then? ?
  13. In effect what many have done here. Biggest problem seems to be the places can be TOO WARM and require cooling. I can only dream of such a problem!
  14. Used both the TS and No Nonsense water based specific MDF primers before with no issue. Just the other day I had to knock up a quick MDF shelf for the daughter and couldn't find any MDF primer. Found this old but unopened tin and though it had an oil slick on top it soon mixed in. Seemed watery but it was in fact bang on. Applied with a foam roller. Great coverage. Took longer to dry of course than the water based ones.
  15. Do unvented require an annual G3 inspection?
  16. Had a nest in and around the cabin filter on the Focus up under the n/s bulkhead a while back. Some time previous whilst unloading shopping a back of pistachios had split all over the drive. Nest was full of them.
  17. OK not a sealed cavity... Opened the bonnet to check fluids etc (I do regularly) and there was a big brown rat running around. Think it did a runner in the car park. Seems under the canvas type battery cover on a Golf GTI makes a great nest site!
  18. @zoothorn, will any of your neighbours object to a balcony if they think you overlook them? If the wind is in the wrong direction I get the strongest whiff of seemingly high strength marijuana drifting across from mine. I start off quite irate at the thought of it but soon mellow out...
  19. The 80mm toughened panes on a building I worked on had a green tinge. Can't say where though
  20. Did seem a bit overly positive hence my scepticism.
  21. Afaiac it's a case of shoot first ask Christian Slater, but it's only fair to point out the TrustPilot reviews which appear positive. Of course it could be there's a lot of punters taken in by the spiel who haven't yet had big bill's! https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/www.fischerfutureheat.com
  22. Would 8mm be too big? https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/163663062981?
  23. Some excellent reviews here for Fischer: https://www.aspokesmansaid.com/energy/company-10965/fischer-future-heat/1 ?
