Wtf is wrong with plumbing manufacturers
Onoff replied to Construction Channel's topic in General Plumbing
The lady doth protest...TART! Just get the bender out and see it as a challenge. Wiped joint porn: Get some right angled adapters: Another vote for Hudson Reed: If I can do it anyone can! ? Remember, you're a highly skilled craftsman. Plumbers go home smelling of sh!t: -

.....value engineer things down to the last penny! ?

Depends when he's measuring it as to how "real" that figure is. You often have to be real quick. As a test I've measured elements causing nuisance tripping as NOT being down to earth when cold. Chucked them in a pint glass and topped up with hot water out of the kettle and watched the resistance to earth drop like a stone as the casing expands and damp gets in. Take it out, dry it off / let it cool down and the resistance goes back up. Let's face it a mere IR test can "dry out" a damp motor. Has the RCD itself been checked & ramp tested? It might have a tripping threshold of maybe 25mA...the standing protective conductor current might already be close, cumulative from other circuits and its not taking much to put it over and trip it. I'm sure Sunamp's technical department will help... ?

Used both the TS and No Nonsense water based specific MDF primers before with no issue. Just the other day I had to knock up a quick MDF shelf for the daughter and couldn't find any MDF primer. Found this old but unopened tin and though it had an oil slick on top it soon mixed in. Seemed watery but it was in fact bang on. Applied with a foam roller. Great coverage. Took longer to dry of course than the water based ones.

Had a nest in and around the cabin filter on the Focus up under the n/s bulkhead a while back. Some time previous whilst unloading shopping a back of pistachios had split all over the drive. Nest was full of them.

OK not a sealed cavity... Opened the bonnet to check fluids etc (I do regularly) and there was a big brown rat running around. Think it did a runner in the car park. Seems under the canvas type battery cover on a Golf GTI makes a great nest site!

@zoothorn, will any of your neighbours object to a balcony if they think you overlook them? If the wind is in the wrong direction I get the strongest whiff of seemingly high strength marijuana drifting across from mine. I start off quite irate at the thought of it but soon mellow out...

The 80mm toughened panes on a building I worked on had a green tinge. Can't say where though

Did seem a bit overly positive hence my scepticism.

Afaiac it's a case of shoot first ask Christian Slater, but it's only fair to point out the TrustPilot reviews which appear positive. Of course it could be there's a lot of punters taken in by the spiel who haven't yet had big bill's! https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/www.fischerfutureheat.com

Which tool to route out a 30mm x 6mm slot in mortar?

Would 8mm be too big? https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/163663062981? -

Thanks. The duct will be in an up and over inverted U shape. Up through the ceiling into the loft somewhere NW of the rainfall head pipe. It'll then exit out over that wall plate to a soffit vent much as the soil pipe does. All will change again if I do gable ends instead of these hips:

For now...my "for now" I'm going to fit a bog standard extractor and not worry about MVHR. I'm still thinking to have the extractor where the green Post It note is, high up on the mitred corner: A sparks mate has just fitted one of these. Tbh he went for is based purely on aesthetics. Looks good too to my mind having blue LEDs. Yes, a bit gimicky but it ticks my boxes! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Cata-E100GSTH-Grey-Glass-Vent-Extraction-Fan-100mm-With-Humidistat-Timer/272246942762?epid=1138908186&hash=item3f632eac2a:g:~EQAAOSw9VZXPEwX Height wise I'm going to have to have a measure in relation to the rainfall head. If then I punch a 100mm hole through that tile I'm into the "void" behind the mitred corner. Looking back the constrction is thus: Battened and pir'd the walls: Pre finsishing the insulation this is how the 3/4" ply goes in the corner: There's this sort of a void then behind there: The ply then has the green vcl over it: It's then Aqua Pannelled over and tiled: If I put a hole through that mitre, into the void, and take flexible duct up through the ceiling in the loft, should I be worried about interstitial condensation forming in the void? Will that vent position be so placed that I can use it later on if I fit MVHR? (Yes it would be easier to stick it on the ceiling). One other question, calcualting the fan size puts it in the mid 90s m3/hr so this fan at 115m3/hr appears OK. My room volume calc took into account the cupboard volume though wher the door will be always shut. Can I ignore the cupboard volume or should I take it into account? There's a nom 10mm gap underneath. Cheer

Lining a wall with plywood: how thick should the ply be?
Onoff replied to ToughButterCup's topic in General Joinery
Thinking out loud... I reckon you could use a biscuit jointer to route peripheral slots in a thick board. Then commission some METAL biscuits with a counter sunk hole for fixing. The biscuits could be sized to give the desired gap between boards. Mega dust trap behind... I'd be worried about the board "drumming" with fixings just around the edge. How about.....MDF panels as a wall covering? You could get them laser or water jet cut as interlocking, organically etc shaped panels and have them powder coated. -

Response from Oz: Unfortunately the ShadowFIX system can only be sold with our plywood. We do not have a UK distributor, we can pack up and quote ex-Brisbane if you organise the shipping. Looks brilliant. The colour combos; house, wood, blocks, just "work" . That corner detailing really sets it all off. Screams attention to detail. You must be very pleased. Your cr@p photos dont do it justice!
