Bath Surround / Boxing In, and concealed pipework
Onoff replied to Onoff's topic in Bathrooms, Ensuites & Wetrooms
The ads for the body dryer suggests it eliminates condensation but is that correct? Like an extract fan it draws moist air in but then passes it over an 8KW element. It then pumps the air downward. What's the science behind what happens to the moisture? Could this be a viable alternative to an extractor fan? -

No.1 son has just christened the shower. Verdict was "The only problem is I'll miss it when I'm not here!" Water splash/spread is an issue about 1 tile passed the to falls zone. We could be talking curtain/screen! Pretty sure though the body dryer will cure some of it as for sure will UFH. No ventilation yet either. -
That'll do. 1 coat acrylic primer, 2 coats Crown satin.

Reading measurements from a DWG file?
Onoff replied to Dreadnaught's topic in General Self Build & DIY Discussion
Drafsight will read 3D files wont it? Just depends how you View as in Top, Bottom, Left, Right, SE, SW etc. Fairly immaterial as it'll stop working at the end of 2019 and you'll be required to pay for using it.- 16 replies

PIR Override: You can disable the PIR allowing the light to remain on permanently and switch back to PIR operation when required: • Disable PIR - Switch the mains power OFF for 2-3 seconds then ON again, the PIR is disabled and the light will stay on. Note: When following the Disable PIR steps ensure you switch OFF and ON within 5 seconds, if over 5 seconds the PIR will not be disabled. • Enable PIR - Switch the mains power OFF for 2-3 seconds then ON again, the light will turn on as set on the time adjustment and will turn off.

I appreciate it says IP65 on them but is there any way water could have gotten in them? Loose gland, gland pointing upward and not tight etc.

Big thanks to @Temp. 3D printed parts arrived today. Will post some pics when less knackered, (these 16 hour days kill me!) Bit of an experiment material wise as in is PLA+ strong enough / will it take the original part screws without delaminating. Thanks again.

Left it as per picture above, 1st top coat going on tonight! ?

Level tolerance for hardcore under a concrete slab.
Onoff replied to epsilonGreedy's topic in Floor Structures
Real bodgers add empty 2L Coke bottles if a bit short on the mix...or Coke cans placed upside down...empty beer bottles with the lids whacked back on or lumps of eps, pir etc. I've come across all the above. Lucky none of it was structural...oh hang on, it WAS! Pump up the volume! ? -
Features that are hard to add after the build is finished
Onoff replied to puntloos's topic in New House & Self Build Design
Should have, could have, would have added acoustic foam around the bath. Spa feature is pretty noisy. The foam worked a treat around the WC. -

I filled in any slight dips with ballast pre the sand blind. Handy time to get rid of any half bags of plaster, cement etc like in The Great Escape... -
I say young man, in the bog or the YMCA spa?

Ta. Tbh I thought satin had a hint of "sparkle".

Where do we stand on Coke Zero?

The vet usually gets them from him!

If coke/bleach fail then Barkeepers Friend is excellent stuff too btw. I use it occasionally on our cheapest of the cheap, Wickes stainless steel sink. Used it too on an enamelled hob. Really is good stuff. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bar-Keepers-Friend-Surface-Household/dp/B00BLKGJ2G

+1 on the cheapest cola you can find. But....you have to scoop out and dry the water in there before you add the coke. Bleach mixed with baking soda to make a paste that'll cling to the pan sides.

I can hear SWMBO now; "Is that the finished coat?" Tbh the acrylic primer's glossier than this!
-
Big thanks to @Temp. He's hopefully going to do my headphone repair bits.
-
This satin paint isn't as "glossy" as I'd hoped. Not sure if it was because I brushed it on then rollered it? Might try a 3rd, roller applied wet coat.

The whitening toothpastes are better for more stubborn marks. There's a charcoal one seems to work well.- 10 replies

All those years of self abuse have got nothing to do with it! Top tip for lightly scratched safety goggles etc.....toothpaste. Rub on neat on a cloth with a few drops of water. Makes a fine cutting paste. Good on scratched CDs too. Don't forget to rinse well.- 10 replies
