Hi all, is there an optimum location within the floor slab to position the pipe work, for example in a 150mm floor slab laid on insulation could the pipe work be pinned to the insulation or is it better to be located centrally in the slab fixed to the reinforcement mesh. I like the the idea of fixing it down low in the slab just for piece of mind of fixing anything to the slab while the build continues it is out of harms way. Cheers.

Stick it on with pigeon s--t then cover with sikaflx use your finger to shape the sikaflex so it looks like a weld, and bobs your mothers brother. As long as you don't have to take it for an mot. Will be fine. Tbh if the whole of the roof is a bit iffy why not lay a few lengths of timber across and sheet it with galvanised sheets, you could find one patch could be the first of many. -

TBH you need to think what this is for and how long until you sell it on. Welding to that with a stick will be a pita unless you are a welding god. Which you are probably not as you wouldn't need to ask the question. I would cut a patch larger than affected areas, clean area and prime stick patch on with stickaflex or ct1 smear around edges and smooth off with a paintbrush dipped in appropriate thinner, prime and paint over the whole patch. Go to pub with money saved from all those bent twisted welding rods. Ca Ching. -
As @Barney12 said it's been a long day and my brains fried tonight. Ignore me please.

The way I see it is this 1:40 is as he said for every meter you drop 40mm so over 15m would be15 x 40 =600 so your 540mm is not far away. I stand to to be corrected but it's how I've always looked at it.

DPC and Weep Vent Location
Russell griffiths replied to Barney12's topic in General Construction Issues
Need a pic really. If the strap is nailed to the frame on the outside of the membrane that will be a pain. I would think you would need to cut around them, poke your new Dpc up fold cut membrane back down and repair membrane with appropriate tape -
DPC and Weep Vent Location
Russell griffiths replied to Barney12's topic in General Construction Issues
We built with a very similar build up, we added another damp course sealed to the outside of the timber frame, fitted over the sarking board but under the weather membrane, this then crossed the cavity with weep holes fitted above any moisture falling down the cavity was ejected outwards. -
Oh well. It worked in my head for a moment.

I can't work out how they want £30/£35 a bag in tops tiles. ??

Ta very much.

Come on more info needed, what would the Fanta drinking tiling wizard use.

Do you also have to show where your rainwater off your roof is going. We have just had to calculate this and show what we are doing with it.

I'm in the middle of trying to tidy up my current bathroom and have just found out that after chopping up the floor tiles expecting to find a concrete floor it turns out there's another layer of tiles underneath. WTF. So I need a recommendation for an adhesive for ceramic tiles on top of ceramic tiles. @Nickfromwales come on son I need ya.

I'm thinking of making my own paper version as I'm old fashioned, every time a good product is mentioned I'm going to write it in a book with different headings for different tasks.

To be honest I put this up to eliminate the boredom of grouting my shower. I have no intention of gluing anything it's going in the bin. ?

Is this a good idea, I see lots of questions regarding products, I have asked a few myself recently and was about to ask another, is there a way of compiling a list of good gear that has proven its self in helping to get the job done well. I recently asked for a recommendation for a good white silicon that didn't discolour and our welsh wizard plumber came to the rescue. What do you think would this cause you admin lot a load of work or would it be fairly straightforward. Russ.

I have just passed full ownership of the dog over to my wife, I have informed her that from now on I will bill her directly for any loss caused by her puppy. She informed me my dinner my dinner tonight was waiting for me at the chip shop. Oh well I didn't win that one.
-
Any got any ideas how to fix this? Apart from the obvious of shooting the dog. Blue roll in the background is the water one I just collected. Oh I do love having extra to do when I'm busy already. Bless him??

Can I have some contact details for the rep please. @Pete

That should work, I would just take the fine surface filler further out on the final skim.

So after a year of surveys we have finally put our application in. But now I'm a bit suck on what to do next if I start building regs drawings what if the planners come back and want changes will it all be a waste. Do I take my basic plans to a timber frame company to see if it is possible for them to build our design or again if planning don't like it is this a big waste of their time. Do timber frame manufacturers charge for a quote, I think they should, I would be happy to pay to talk to one for a morning with my mind happy that I had not wasted anybody's time. What was your next move. Cheers russ.

House to integral garage door - Security?
Russell griffiths replied to AliG's topic in Garages & Workshops
My opinion on this would be that if I had made it inside your house I would now have a lot of time to get through ANY door you put in my way. I have dealt a lot in theft of machinery in the past in my previous life whatever you show me I will work out how to get past it. If it is car theft that really worries you I think a good immobiliser and a tracker would be good as well as a lift out post in front of the garage door either inside all outside. I think the door between the garage and house is just there to slow them down a minute or two. They do say security should be like an onion, layer after layer, they get through one to be greeted by another, all the time the alarm is wailing away after a few minutes they'll want to be leaving. Most thefts are over very quickly they don't want to be in there to long Roller door, steel internal door, house alarm, immobiliser, tracker, lift out post. What you want is them to go somewhere else. -
I have bought a new I pad just for the house build I save all websites I like to the home screen, I also keep any pics in my photo album, i have also got a website called houzz where you can set up folders with all your ideas in, say windows you can keep hundreds of pics of windows in it,when you click on the pic it tells you the manufacturer and other relevant stuff. I am a complete Luddite and wouldn't know how to set up a spreadsheet at all so I find this very helpfull.

Are you asking this because you are curious or are you trying to work out when to order readymix? 1 cubic metre from a mix on site truck just cost me £120 this was dear because I only had 1 cube. Answer these questions. How much was the bulk bag of ballest, how much for cement, add these together and it is utterly pointless to mix your own if you need anything like a cube. Three barrow loads needed on Sunday afternoon mix it yourself

I think the word joiner is a bit incorrect if your doing some hunting around, you want a shuttering chippy, your joiner bloke will be more interested in fitting skirting and stuff.
