  1. Hi, would be interested to know how close you are, we are in the Cotswold water park, just below Cirencester.
  2. How many metres is up stairs, is it going to be icf or timber.
  3. 75p plus vat cirencester area.
  4. Really down to the cost, they may promise the earth, but if there £1.50 each I can’t see anybody wanting to use them.
  5. We are also having a wooden ceiling bc told me as no rooms above, the coating needs to be to stop spread off flame not necessarily fire proof.
  6. Don’t understand how they are still in business, certainly a company I won’t be phoning.
  7. God you lot are well dodgy,
  8. So we are nearly at wall plate height, next job is the roof and then that nasty scenario rears it’s ugly head i want to change the design, not a lot but I would like an extra window so what are the options 1, go back to the planners and ask nicely, what will this cost.? 2, put it in and apply for retrospective planning 3, put it in, who is actually going to notice. Further information, we are on a site of aprox 11 acres, no matter what angle you stand this window cannot be Sean from any other land.
  9. My structural engineer charges £100 an hour, so it’s probably not far off.
  10. https://www.drainageshop.co.uk/sundries.html @Weebles
  11. The two rubber connectors do change the situation, as they allow for ground movement i personaly would have sleeved it as for the water main that’s just stupid why not ask his reasoning for it and make a decision on his answer.
  12. Time for a new builder.
  13. I have a gas powered blow heater from toolstation, gets the workshop far to hot in 20 mins but I do seem to buy a few gas bottles, so probably not ver economic.
  14. I probably missed out an item that could distort the answers if I use a sarking board I will do it hit n miss fashion so only half as many boards to cover the same area. If I had a smaller roof I would probably go osb straight away, but being I have 450m square to do I’m looking at alternative products.
  15. Evening, after some opinions on a good quality roofing membrane things im after quality, not cheap crap fully waterproof breathable. Ta very much.
  16. Hi all, our roof will be metal raised seam it is supposed to sit on 18mm osb which I don’t plan on doing, I’m planning on using a sarking board just like our Scottish neighbours do would you use treated timber or just rough sawn. I have two views on this but thought I would get a collective opinion.
  17. Having spent many years hiring cranes you need a crane to do your job, not one you looked at on another site. Look how small Jeremy’s one was, yet I bet his panel weighed the same crane hire is about the load verses the radius it need lifting to, height is not normally a factor unless you are on a multi storey job. What you need is a city crane developed for use in (er cities) you need to measure the width of the street to accommodate the out riggers then you need to know the load, ( which will be tiny ) then the radius to the furthest panel placements. After writing all that guff you will probably be better off unloading somewhere else and bringing to site separately. How have mbc priced this ? it could be cheaper for you to provide 3 blokes and a transit flatbed or trailer for two days to get the frame on site you can bet mbc will put a good markup on this. Who pays for the crane ? not having a crane will allow you to bribe a local farmer and pay 4 lads for a good couple of days get 10 panels on site before mbc turn up, then as they start supply them with a new panels as you transport them.
  18. Looking at the tree it’s lowest branches don’t look like they comply with height regulations. Or is this before it was lifted.
  19. You have seen my site so for reference this is a problem I also have my roof timbers are 11m long and there is 32of them what we are doing is to get them delivered directly to a farm a couple of miles away, he will unload them with the tele handler and reload onto a flat bed trailer, we will then drive to site and unload by hand. Do you know the exact act weight of a panel ? you may be worrying about nothing.
  20. Thinking of things before you get to the frame stage what about a concrete wagon and pump what about muckaway. Maybe time to go and make friends with the neighbours.
  21. Just thinking out aloud as I know nothing compared to some on here regarding decrement delay and all that. Could you not use the thinner lighter frame and add wood fibre insulation to the outside to bring the frame up to a better standard, less insulation on the inside means bigger rooms, more insulation on the outside, the planners would never notice the house has grown a bit. You could carry these panels by hand, and fit extra insulation at your leisure once roof is on easy and light to install on the outside, you would just need to make the racking board the inside airtight layer, just like the mbc twin wall panel.
  22. Cool thing I have this covered, will show bc that drawing and ask for comments. ??
  23. if You look at this pic for two separate dwellings it shows a fire stop under the breather membrane and over the top, but the tile battens are still bridging over that area. Seems a bit pointless doesn’t it or do they think the spread along a batten is very small. What ya reckon. @Mr Punter
  24. Ceiling will be double boarded, with a vapour barrier i had thought of comparing it to two separate dwellings what would a detail be for two separate dwellings ? If they shared the same roof covering, like a pair of semi detached houses.
  25. Hi, can anybody offer any comments on my rather poor sketch i have an attached garage on an icf build we are currently working on at the end of the garage is a gable wall, on the other side of the gable wall is a bedroom so looking at the sketch we have a solid concrete wall running up to the underside of the roof covering, the top of the wall will be covered in rockwool insulation my question. Is there a risk of fire traveling along the roof battens, should the battens be stopped in The middle of the wall and some sort of fire stop installed between the batten ends. Hope that makes sense. Black things are rafters blue shaded thing is the top of the wall red lines roof battens
