  2. Problem is what to do when you get up there. The basket is a very small target to aim for when your falling. .

Oh dear... @Barney12 Can you remove the panels, fit some 10mm x 75mm aluminium strips where the panel fixing holes are, running from bottom to top with a cranked detail on the end, and fix the panels back down over it. Then from left to right fit another 10mm x 40-50mm flat bar so it runs under the leading edge of the bottom of the flashings, and then fix down through the flashing skirt into the flat bar? Only pain is it'll raise the panels by the thickness of the vertical strips. Could you get something under the pv trays to fix into.......but then I suppose the design of the trays and panel retaining clips negates any through penetration......
  4. Agreed, looks uber smart. This is the last one ( that took my arm ? ). Matt black flush plate, trap and tap to go with pic frames, mirror etc. Not bad considering I tiled that with one arm ?. 750x750mm too. I think we'll see a lot more of the black this year. ?

  11. Hi and welcome. What cost comparison are you working to ? You need to be sure it's not more expensive to go 'bespoke' and that it'll achieve the same standard. Remember certain TF suppliers will guarantee a particular level of airtightness and that's not easy to do. If you get a mix of disconnected trades on site, continuity and attention to minute detail often slips, and it's the minute detail that will make or kill your target build quality.

  13. On the last one I fitted 25mm celotex with 50mm screws and some penny washers. Just sink them so the washer pulls in and bingo. Use the foam to fill the gaps around the perimeter, and foil tape the butt joints. 8 or 9 fixing per sheet is ample, but remember NOT to leave any screws proud or they'll hold the OSB proud.
  14. Best to verify with your BCO but if your careful with fixing the plywood then couldn't that sort the racking and the finish with one product?
  15. Yup, but why fit pb when you could fit 9mm osb and fix wherever you like. .
  16. You cant fix into the pb so I'm not sold on that idea. As has been said, if there's no habitable space above it's completely unnecessary. Best to find what FR coatings are available first in case they don't comply with the desired finish.

  20. It can give you quite a headache, this plumbing lark...... Excellent real life figures there. Theres also still the Heat battery ( like a Sunamp ) to consider. No boiler, no ASHP, and almost zero maintenance / moving parts etc but also with near zero latent losses too. Im currently specifying one with 18kw/hr of Sunamp heat battery, and have steered away from the originally assumed ASHP altogether. PV will feature but with enough capacity to be recharged every evening on E7 /E10, its a VERY slick installation with masses of DHW available that could easily be used without PV. Grid electricity will fortify any short fall / provide boost for higher occupancy ( guests ). I'm awaiting @AndyT to update on things 'up and coming' before going into more depth on that setup.
  21. Well, with reduced ventilation and fabric heat loss you may well be able to use the slab as a storage heater, topping up during the night from a buffer heated by pv and fortified by the ASHP. Sizing the system will be down to the amount of heat energy required to offset the losses of the dwelling and start from there. Your not naive as both would work well, and tbh you'll need a buffer tank with either option, regardless of the fact your having PV. If fitting the larger buffer ( as your not fully 'passive' ) id certainly look at DHW preheat from the buffer too, killing two birds with one stone then.
