Look what the Architectural Technologist delivered.

We use an AT - no complaints at all. No idea why anyone uses an architect. Horses for courses I guess. -

The Build - Insulation ahead of 1st Fix - UPDATE
CC45 commented on Redoctober's blog entry in Our Journey North of the Border
do you know what the screed mix was? Got to do this in a mates house before the end of the year.... -
we did what @PeterW suggested. If you use a concrete liner / rings make sure you used the correct one to start with - my brickie balanced it on a few blocks (on top of some lintels) - complete pain in the arse to connect the stove to this - this headache hasn't been fully resolved yet. Pictures 4 & 5 here. http://www.selfbuildselfhelp.com/Advice/DoingStuff/ChimneyFlue2.htm

The Build - Insulation ahead of 1st Fix - UPDATE

Hope it wasn't as hot as we had - I continue to be impressed with the build quality of your frame - is it as good in reality as it is on the pictures?! What mix did you use for the screed? -

that is a really neat job - lot of attention to detail from what I can see; I wish our frame erector had done a job half that good. Upstairs - what depth were the battens you put down and what thickness of board did you put on top of it? (I'm assuming you screeded between the battens). Looks really good so far - you must spend some time on cleaning and tidying! -
the reviews do seem a bit chequered..... are there any good online suppliers?

Hi all, Has anyone bought stuff from Soak.com? Been looking at the freestanding baths and some taps https://soak.com/en-gb/baths/new-arrivals/1700mmx780mm-mya-freestanding-bath/101206.html#gclid=EAIaIQobChMI-NnSr6Ch3AIVTpPtCh3CGQR-EAYYASABEgLIyfD_BwE&start=1 https://soak.com/en-gb/hotel-collection/the-everyday-eclectic/gladstone-freestanding-thermostatic-bath-mixer-tap-with-hand-held-shower-head/2002207.html Has anyone out there got any other recommendations? Cheers

Hi @Redoctober, any pics of that ufh going in upstairs? The mix will be to the top of the 25mm battens? Looks good. -
The Build - moving forward.

They remove them then 'tamp' the liquid down with a piece of tube with some handles. It has to be tamped a bit - nothing self levels except for water! -
Who should do the wet room tanking?
CC45 replied to ultramods's topic in Bathrooms, Ensuites & Wetrooms
Ditto - I've just completed the tanking, need to choose tiles now so I can move on to the next stage. -

Are there any insurance implications here? I have a vague memory of a case recently where a house burnt down and the insurance company refused to pay out because of 'habitable' space in the loft.

So even if you had enough for 3 coats you would only do 2?

I'd use screws - nailing up there may result in you patching the plaster board downstairs when the nails pop out. I learnt this the hard way.

These pictures need to stop really - its killing me to see that view!

Floor bounce - PosiJoist Floor Vibration checks
CC45 replied to readiescards's topic in Floor Structures
well I've just re-secured all our strong backs - its made Q a difference. Also added 18mm ply either side of the metal web joists - also a positive impact. After reading on this forum - I also secured the ends of the joists again so they are rock solid. All helps me sleep at night and hopefully has a positive impact on the floor as well! -
