  1. What about these:https://www.screwfix.com/p/hose-union-back-plate/56415 You could mount this on the aquapanel, trim the 15mm pipe to size (this is in the void so no need to be too ott) and the connect up. Couldnt be much easier or quicker (I realise the latter advantage isnt that important to you ??)
  2. We are v similar to what you list. Mains gas - so fitted a 24kw system boiler. Supplies 250l uvc and a 90l buffer store. Buffer store feeds 2 manifolds - ufh plus rads upstairs. All rooms have their own stats. Partly installed so far, no hurry to complete it but it worked well when we had the cold snap.
  3. Cant you mount the tap fitting closer? Fewer joints the better. The good news is that when you arent showering this fitting wont be under pressure, so a wee leak shouldnt be a disaster (not that you would want one anyway). Mine are just behind the boards and I will have to shorten the piece that goes into the surface thingy.
  4. and none around the edges? Surprised you've got time to reply @Nickfromwales! It must be beer O'clock on Buildhub SOS now?
  5. Much left to do?
  6. As per Dave. We did go 2g not 3g, difference was massive - years of gas! Don't skimp on what you can't redo in the future. Put the utility in the middle of the house.
  7. You two deserve a medal.
  8. Bought some Bal from Topps Tiles for £20 (20kg bag) in the end - needs must. Before the floor tiles go down I will find a cheaper supplier. If I butter the underside of the tray - I assume I need to fill the whole tray - even the 'trough' near the edge? That's going to be a heavy lift!
  9. I'd be worried about his insurance policy - does it cover what he's about to do?
  10. DIY - pressure wash to get it clean then chainsaw to it. Dirt & saw chains don't go. Smaller chunks should help. Stumps are a real pain.
  11. fair play to the lads. They deserve the odd refreshment..
  12. I bought one on ebay - ex school fire escape. £550. Spent another £500 on steel, wire, gas and spraying. It took some time but we've ended up with metal stairs for about 1/3 of the quotes I had. There seems to be plenty of stairs on ebay. How good is your welding?
  13. Dont need to imagine it! I wish I'd got better gear when I slept out on it - 6 hours watching rain drip into your sleeping bags wasnt much fun. Lot of respect for the MR.
  14. Ducks and fish is what I've seen.
  15. So where should I be looking then Nick? What would a reasonable price be? I will need a lot when the serious tiling begins....
  16. All his videos are worth a look - Danny Macaskill. The ridge is fantastic - even as day walks. The whole ridge does need some rope etc. The In Pin is awesome.
  17. Why not rent some? Rather handily they normally come with a chap (foc) who also knows how to use them (so saves all of us tax payers nhs costs) and more often than not does the plastering as well. Result. Leaving you to admire the quality job - the only thing you need to do is choose the paint. Sorted.
  18. I didnt think the prices were ott! Not keen on toppstiles as an outlet but they are convenient tbh. Cheers @Nickfromwales
  19. Cruel comment! Wish I was there. Tried all the cuilin ridge in one go once but the weather wasnt good on day 2, sleeping on the ridge was different, real challenge getting off with little vis. Stunning. Once I finish our build then I will be up in Scotland again for some serious hill stuff.
  20. my eyes keep getting drawn to those snow covered mountains - Munros? Completed them all a few years ago - need to start again now. Scotland is a stunning country - if I wasn't Welsh then I'd more than happy settle for being Scottish.
  21. did you also get thrown out of the leisure centre?
  22. I guess its @Nickfromwales query but happy to receive any advice from numerous experts on here... So its time to buy the necessary bits (skimmer is calling around tomorrow - I'm hoping he will be able to do the bathrooms / unsuits fairly soon - its then time for the trays to go down) ready for the shower trays Sikaflex - is THIS the one to seal between the stray and the cement boards? https://www.screwfix.com/p/sika-sikaflex-ebt-all-weather-sealant-clear-300ml/7286d Primer - https://www.toppstiles.co.uk/tprod3071/bal-primer-1ltr.html?utm_source=google-shopping&gclid=EAIaIQobChMItIy35YOk2gIVRrvtCh2MsAowEAQYAiABEgIQjPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds#fo_c=2258&fo_k=80de937287d34cdea089275da61fe442&fo_s=gplauk acceptable to use on the timber floor prior to the flexible tile adhesive? And finally - the adhesive... https://www.toppstiles.co.uk/tprod44754/bal-max-flex-5kg-white.html Don't want to skimp on quality items - I don't want to have to redo this job!
  23. @Onoff why risk the finish to save a few quid?
  24. cheers Nick. Need to get the ceilings skimmed first then its game on. if @Onoff can get a move on then I need to just do it
