  1. I am pretty sure you would get more sympathy from the weaker sex - who have knowledge of and also suffer from this (none)complaint agreed @newhome? @Jude1234? @lizzie?
  2. (Although I wish none of us had this experience) It's kind of comforting to know others, and their belongings, get treated with the same lack of respect. Someone, or rather Mr Nobody as they all deny responsibility, has even chipped my new kitchen worktop. I'm pretty sure I know who it was but he vehemently denied it. "I'm big enuff an' man enuff t'own up if it were me and it wan't an' I dun't like gerrin' blamed fur summat I an't dun'. The other reason why i suspect my plumbers are not coming back. It's a tiny chip; no one will ever know that it is there unless I tell them, and I can't afford to replace the top but it is soul destroying. I aimed to be in by the end of September, I knew this was ambitious but thought I would be nearly there, and I was, but somehow 3 weeks later I am no nearer. There are a combination of reasons. Stuff arriving damaged and needing replacing (and refitting). Aforementioned plumbers - if their work was done I could have at least half moved in this coming weekend. Handyperson being ill and having car problems - not his fault but still throws my schedule out). Me not daring to order some things because until some other jobs are completed there is no where to put them. Me delaying ordering some things because I am losing sleep over a £50 difference between what I want and what will do the job (but not be what I want) etc, etc, etc. I will get there!
  3. Manflu is your body telling you that you have a lowered resistance due to stress and it's time to take a break. There, there, you will feel better soon. Right, that's that taken care of - now - as @newhome has already advised MTFU
  4. Yep it is the Luca, I love the simplicity of no handles. It is matt dove grey with grey carcasses (which match very well). Because of budget constraints I am not having any trims or side panels, other than plinths and backing for the back of units that will be on show under the island. The wall unit arrived damaged and they had a new one to me in a week from being told. On thing I would watch for if you have a wide wall unit. The bottom shelf of the unit is not fixed to the back so wouldn't take much weight before bowing. I think this is the reason it got damaged because the units are very well boxed. On the replacement unit we have glued a block in place between the back and the bottom shelf which should make it much more secure. They send fixings for wall units but no brackets to attach base or tall units to the wall. Not expensive but worth being aware of. I have gone for laminate worktop. It is so much cheaper, and my sister and brother have granite and hate them because they mark with water so easily. I have had laminate in this house for 18 years and there isn't a mark on it. Unfortunately, 'Mr Nobody' has chipped the front of the new long worktop. All 4 workers in the house at the time deny it was them. God knows how they have managed it, they certainly couldn't #not know' when they did it because it must have been given a really hard bang. It's only tiny but I am so pee'd off about it.
  5. Yeah. What I thought. The water hasn't even been turned on yet but that is easier to sort. It's the gas safe part of it that is the big issue to get someone else to take on. I will have to wait until next week but I have my suspicions they will not come next week either but - I know I don't really have a choice.
  6. Of getting someone to commision a boiler/ufh system when it is already installed but not commissioned or pressure tested. So much for having plumbers I can rely on. They installed the boiler and ufh control last week. Everything was supposed to be finished by last Friday but unfortunately it wasn't. They left at 8pm last Friday with promises to come back today (Thursday) to complete. Couldn't get before then because of other promised work. Message at lunchtime today to say that they couldn't make it but 'should' be able to come next Thursday or Friday. The week after next, one is going away for the week (and the van is his). Absolutely fed up with this now. I should have been able to move in next week.
  7. Gosh Yes - that's extortionate - like my electricity though - that was £13K
  8. Getting the gas connected to the house was the cheapest and most straightforward of all the utilities. Gas connection was subsidised so the connection was only less than £400. It seems like electric and water you have to have whereas because gas is a choice there are more customer friendly. Probably not the real reason but it definitely felt that way.
  9. My electric ufh for my en-suite being a good example. Same company, same spec, Their website cost was over £1500, their ebay shop, less than £900.
  10. Is that a mirror you're looking at?
  11. per submission I am pretty sure
  12. Can you order from your local branch to pick up from the other branch. Probably not but it is worth a try
  13. Screwfix have 10 l of this (or something very similar definitely Leyland Trade) (White or Magnolia) for £16.99 https://www.screwfix.com/p/leyland-trade-contract-matt-emulsion-paint-brilliant-white-10ltr/33680#_=p
  14. That second wall looks like the interior of our school outside toilet block when I was a kid
  15. Random thoughts B with a reducing percentage for every k they go over budget other than for significant change of mind on your part or definitely unforeseeable extras. Or, percentage fee to watertight and fixed fee after. I guess lots depends on your budget and contingencies.
  16. On holiday one year(at least 30 years ago) someone staying at the same place told us she worked in electronics. Later in the week we discovered she worked on an assembly line soldering one specific piece of wire into one specific place before it passed on to the next person.
  17. Hecateh

    hmm

how about the p***ed off and stressed from Barnsley charity lol
  18. Hecateh

    hmm

The place has given them one so it looks like I owe you @PeterW
  19. Hecateh

    hmm

Yep! So the one they buy I will pay for and will be returned to @PeterW Unless they decide they want one and pay for it themself in which case I'll pay Pete for it
  20. Hecateh

    hmm

Yep - they are buying one tomorrow
  21. Hecateh

    hmm

Suzie also pocketed the reamer so I am having to buy a new one
  22. Hecateh

    hmm

Thanks @PeterW and @Nickfromwales I 'knew' it should be right but it doesn't 'look' right and they don't want to put it all up and leave me with a problem. It may just be Wunda they don't like, in which case, if they use grundfos, they will be able to sort it with them. As I said, my plumbers are willing to accept it's right but that they don't know and it doesn't look right. They were here until gone 6 and were just trying to sort things out so they can get straight on with it tomorrow. (*&^% Suzie wouldn't have had a prayer) There doesn't appear to be a washer in this bit
  23. Hecateh

    hmm

There is only one on the quote but there are 2 on the order and they sent 2. I'm not so worried about that - I can sort that quite easily. The bigger issue is the one I posted - this very loose 'connection'
  24. Hecateh

    hmm

That's why I used them to supply @Nickfromwales and others on here, recommended. My (now) plumbers are great but have no experience of ufh and this is just totally loose. Whilst I am happy to contact Wonda, this needs fitting tomorrow so it isn't going to solve the issue. I also have another issue, which I am also going to contact them about. I have just discovered that their invoice includes 2 pumps instead of one. Only one in the quote - and it explains why my invoice was higher than expected
  25. Hecateh

    hmm

nope - that's just loose and fell apart as he held it. I know nothing but must admit it doesn't look very safe
