Looks like a shortie motorcycle jacket (which would be a bit pointless)

I have wet UFH under the bathroom and en-suite using spreader plates under the floor, then tiles. Not difficult to do. The bedrooms have no heating and so far have not needed any. I included cabling to fit electric panel heaters, but like others who have done the same, I have not needed to fit them. This is how I did it. Not actually much heated area as it does not go under the bath or the shower.

All the cladding I see is. Is your wood particularly warped?
-
PP is granted to the land, not the person, stop worrying. I would question if you are using the right solicitor? In any event it is only PIP so you will be doing another planning application to sort out the details anyway.
-
Explain to me why a light fitted to cladding won't go up and down just like that one fixed to brick?

I know we must accept that, and it's okay. But my Daughter is being taught about all sorts of relationships at school EXCEPT heterosexual. We are in danger of teaching our children that heterosexual is "wrong" We are doing our best at home to teach her that is not the case. If my daughter grows up to be something other than heterosexual, then that is fine if that is genuinely how she feels, but NOT if it is because that is what she has been taught she must be.

That had me laughing out loud. Why were they making tea in a coffee pot, and pouring it into a tea cup resembling a collander? And Jeremy highlights the dilemma that we all faced in our formative years. How to find a partner without being accused of sex crimes. No wonder so many now "bat for the other side"

Alternative accommodation - caravan
ProDave replied to canalsiderenovation's topic in Planning Permission
Strictly you should get temporary permission for a caravan for habitation, but frankly for such a short duration I would not bother. If anyone kicks up a fuss, the council can't evict you straight away, the first enforcement would be to make you apply for PP for it, and chances are you would be finished using it before that was even determined, so if you made it clear it was only temporary I bet they would not bother. As a Touring caravan used in relation to the house it's storage there is covered by permitted development. So just buy the largest one you can get over the bridge and get on with it. -
ashp ASHP - how much ???!!???
ProDave replied to Robert Clark's topic in Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP)
That seems to be the going rate to pay someone to install it. Does that include the cylinder? A random search reveals the ASHP and pe plumbed cylinder will cost about £6700 https://www.wolseley.co.uk/product/mitsubishi-ecodan-heat-pump-112kw-and-300l-pre-plumbed-standard-cylinder/ That is not a recommendation to use that supplier or in any way to imply they are the cheapest, just the first one I found. Without the cylinder it appears to be about £4499 https://www.wolseley.co.uk/product/mitsubishi-ecodan-air-source-heat-pump-pack-ftc4-112kw/ -
Source of narrow engineered oak flooring?
ProDave replied to Nick1c's topic in Wood & Laminate Flooring
I can't help with your specific question. We do have engineered oak flooring over UFH but 190mm wide planks. And they show absolutely no signs of shrinkage yet. At a previous house we had 90mm wide solid Maple, and that was pretty solid and stable. -
It is daft that you needed an extraction licence as you were not going to extract any. That's why if I do anything with the burn in our garden, It will be under the radar. Who actually owns the water in my burn? Clearly not me it seems. I just have temporary custody over it for a few seconds as it passes through.

Minimum Reasonable wall width for good U values?
ProDave replied to puntloos's topic in Heat Insulation
That is almost the standard timber frame method up here. Except use a 150mm timber frame and no insulation in the cavity. Usually you also over sheet with PIR on the inside of the frame. -
Clear vegetation from plot, DIY. Advice please!
ProDave replied to Dreadnaught's topic in General Self Build & DIY Discussion
I dosed my entire site with Gallup 360. It only affects the plants you spray it on, not the ground. Don't spray it on the trees and they won't be bothered. -
Clear vegetation from plot, DIY. Advice please!
ProDave replied to Dreadnaught's topic in General Self Build & DIY Discussion
Before you go much further, what is the landscaping plan and how do finished site levels compare to existing levels? If you need or want to build up the ground level, dig it all and and stack it up to compost for later. If you need to lower site levels or just keep them as they are, remove what you dig up and dispose of it. -

Yes it is not configured properly yet, no HDD in it at all so just booted from the DVD as a live session. Not much option there to configure things. I was surprised how well it actually worked like that. So far I quite like the look of Zorin, definitely more "windows like" than Ubuntu. The SSD is coming from the UK so I should have that soon.

You choose your stove to match your heating needs, then choose the flue to match the stove.
-
Well you had better find out......
-
I got all mine from here https://www.flue-pipes.com/ IT cost over £1K for all my flue pipe, more than the stove. What size stove? I used 5" for a 4.5kW stove.

Wetroom - Forget it Pal. Damn and blast it
ProDave replied to ToughButterCup's topic in Bathrooms, Ensuites & Wetrooms
Why? As long as you reinstate the DPM that you will have cut to do so. -

Best way to get a new phone line installed
ProDave replied to AliG's topic in Networks, AV, Security & Automation
I coped with this by installing a hockey stick between my AV cupboard and outside so I have a route so pull in new cables like telecoms or whatever, and you just seal the ends of the hockey stick. -
You have a different make of manifold to the others. You are missing the flow meters / adjusters. That won't stop it working, but will mean there is no way to balance the flows so one room may heat up quicker than the others. There will be a control box out of the photo and because it is a different make of manifold, it will almost certainly have a different make of control box. Again that is not "wrong"
